thanks for your response. Would like to know if there was a problem that we needed to discuss because I don't see anything from your comments to indicate the rating.
Perfect for a beach break. Short walk and youâre on a pristine stretch of sand. Property was well equipped for cooking and there were nice touches like masks, hand sanitizer and cocktail napkins! Owner was super helpful and accommodating!! Would stay again.

Thanks, Rhonda. Hope you will come again for a longer time so you can give me some cooking lessons!
Proximity to the beach is wonderful! Highly recommend renting the downstairs too if you have adult children. Upstairs bedrooms are interconnected and very close in proximity.
We have been coming to this house for some years already!!! It never disappoints!!!! Great location, super spacious, clean, lots of towels, things to take to the beach⌠super just to pack your bag and go!!! Communication with host was super!!!
Highly recommended!!!!
We enjoyed our stay, the house had everything we needed, ideal location, and the host was helpful and accommodating. The one thing that would have been good to know is that one of the bedrooms is off the master and opens into either the master bedroom or the other bedroom which works great for parents with kids but not great with 6 adults. Nonetheless we made it work and had a great time!

Coconuts is in a perfect location for ease of beach access and a peaceful stay.
We had a really nice stay at Coconuts! The house definitely has everything you need for a nice stay at the beach. I enjoyed my correspondence with the owner Mary Jo Cancelmo and am so thankful for the cleanliness and comfort of her home. There is a wonderful outdoor shower that can be utilized when everyone is calling for the first shower inside đ Thank you again for the use of this beautiful home! The Holshouser Family

Thanks for your reply. Enjoyed meeting with you, your sister, and of course, your great Dad. After thinking about your question on the Altamonte Springs area I want you to look at a little town called Mt Dora. Further south. VERY CUTE ARTSY COMMUNITY, GRESH WATER LAKES AND THERE IS ALSO A HOWEY IN THE HILLS RESORT AREA ALSO FURTHER SOUTH OF ALTAMONTE. I URGE PEOPLE TO STAY AWAY FROM THE ORLANDO CORRIDOR. INYERSTATE 4 IS A MAD HOUSE AND TRAFFIC AROUND IT IS HORRENDOUS.

Awesome location
My family enjoyed Anna Maria Island, and especially this north end where Mary Jo's home is located - a very short walk and we'd be on the white sands of the island's wide beaches. Every evening many people gathered on the beach to watch the sun set, which was always gorgeous! The location is all residential with a few local shops and eateries. Mary Jo was very responsive and informative and provided great details about places to eat and other things - only a phone call away. We cooked alot, and the kitchen is very well stocked with pots, pans, casseroles, baking dishes, as well as glasses of all sizes, plates, bowls and silverware. We did notice a slight musty smell that lingered on our clothes - possibly due to the home being so close to the water.

Thanks, Polly. Will check on water softner supply...on city water. Enjoyed having you, come back again!
We stayed 3 nights at this island gem and thoroughly enjoyed it! This beautiful house is very close to the beach and the owner (Mary Jo) was quick to offer us use of the beach chairs, fishing rods, and other items to make our stay the best it could be. We were impressed with how quiet the house and the surrounding area was. The nearby homes are beautiful and impressive as well. Mary Jo was very friendly and checked in with us several times during our stay and offered great recommendations on places to eat and things to do. The house has a very spacious living room, dining room and kitchen area, great for relaxing, playing games or watching TV. It has been well kept and has all the conveniences you would want. We loved this part of Anna Maria Island as you are not only close to the beach but also very close to some great restaurants! We enjoyed the Waterfront Restaurant, the Sandbar, and the Rod & Reel Pier restaurants, all were very good. We found very unique sea shells and numerous sand dollars on our morning beach walks. We would highly recommend this wonderful beach getaway and hope to be back again soon!

Thank you. It was great to have some Pennsylvania natives visit in our home...maybe next time for a longer stay!
If you are looking to be only steps away from beautiful sun and sand, youâve come to the right place, at Coconuts. We so enjoyed rolling out of bed each morning, for a stroll on the beach, no car required. The path to get to the beach is just across the street from the residence, where you pass through rolling dunes of powdery, white sands to access the ocean. The kitchen was well stocked, with every appliance you might need, so I was able to make my morning smoothie. The living room is bright, spacious and open, with several games and dvds provided for game nights with the family (We played an endless round of Anna Maria Island monopoly). Our host, Mary Jo, was very kind and greeted us upon our arrival. She gave us some suggestions for dining and local entertainment; I highly recommend âThe Porch.â Mary Jo supplied everything you could possibly need for an ideal ocean getaway, right down to beach chairs, noodles and a wagon, in which to tote them. We felt right at home. All three bedrooms are connected, which some folks may not prefer, but if you just have your kids go through the Jack and Jill closet to access the secondary bath and living room, youâll never know they are there. It was a wonderful time for all!

Thank you for your response. Your kids were great. I am looking foward to seeing your son playing guitar in Nashville or as an opening act with a big name group. And hope to see your daughter playing volleyball at a SEC college. Let me know about UF.

Come back soon!
We have been vacationing at AMI for many years, but this was our first time staying at the Bean Point section of beach. Wow! Our 4 weeks in this magical setting went all too quickly; the location of Coco-Nuts sits immediately across from the most beautiful section of beach. The walk to the beach takes one through an amazing sea scape of sand dunes and broad ocean horizons. Glorious doesn't begin to describe the remarkable beauty nor the pleasure we experienced from this landscape.
Coco-Nuts is an especially comfortable home and well equipped with a wide variety of items to enhance the vacation experience: comfy beds, spacious common areas, an extraordinary assortment of kitchen paraphernalia, beach equipment/toys, and certainly the largest collection of beach towels we had ever seen! This is a very attractive home and our family (seniors, adult children, and young grandchildren) greatly enjoyed being there.
We especially wish to express our appreciation for the owner of Coco-Nuts. Not only is MaryJo very personable and accommodating, she is humorous and just plain nice. When the Corona Virus prevented us from staying at Coco-Nuts the previous year, MaryJo graciously allowed us to postpone our stay for a year. She is an outstanding communicator and our only regret is that we didn't get to spend more time with her. This was a fabulous vacation indeed.

lovely home, relaxing, clean, comfortable
We stayed in this home, aka "Coconuts", for 11 nights over Christmas 2018. The description of the location of the home is accurate as are its amenities. It is directly across the street from beach access. However, it is quite a distance to the water (500 yards) thru beautiful dunes. I wasn't able to walk the distance due to having a boot on my broken foot so I put my chair and towel in the dune area and was quite happy.
The beach is patrolled by police but there are no lifeguards. The beach is beautiful as is the water.
The house is in a quiet part of the island. There were quite a few golf carts, can be rented) and bikes. There is a Publix supermarket on the island but the one off shore is less expensive and has a larger selection. There is a gas station w/small grocery/deli, an ice cream store, liquor store, Walgreens, CVS, Dunkin Donuts and many smaller clothing stores, etc. on the island. You need a car or golf cart to get to those stores.
The house is 3 bedrooms. However, there is no separate entrance to the 3rd bedroom. You can only gain entrance to the 3rd BR by walking thru the Master bedroom or the hall bedroom. This worked for our family but would not work for everyone.
The house was perfect for our family of 2 adults and 2 teenagers and our dogs. The main area is tile so it was easy to keep clean. The house is spacious, there is a desk which is perfect for your lap top, the kitchen is well stocked and had any gadget you could ask for. There was even coffee, sugar and flour! Since the owner was so gracious, we of course, left other staples there as well as unused trash bags, foil wrap and laundry detergent.
A beautiful, lovely home which we highly recommend. Would definitely stay here again! Thanks Mary Jo!

Thanks for your review. Unfortunately, we can't control the water erosion and winds. At one time the homes in front of us were only feet from the water. Now we have a wide beach. There is an entrance about one block away that is at the tip. You can walk to the beach easily and then walk around the tip in hard packed sand. That's what I do with grandchildren and beach wagon.
You were a delight to have!
Mary Jo
This was our first time to visit Anna Maria Island and it was a hit! The location of the house is very quiet yet convenient by walking/biking. The home is very well equipped with everything you need for preparing meals, beach towels & accessories, bikes, etcâŚ
We visited the week after Christmas and it was busy as far as eating out- either go early or late, most places were not taking reservations while we were there. If you are going to rent a golf cart- reserve ahead of time (Mary Jo suggested this, Iâm a procrastinator and we werenât able to rent one).
Speaking of Mary Jo - she is by far the BEST owner I have dealt with via VRBO! She provided tons of helpful recommendations and her prompt communication was appreciated. We certainly hope to visit again!
The location of this vintage styled property is second only to beachfront property! You are so close to the beach and the little dunes. The layout of the property gives you access to the top floor of the building and is a bit unique. The third bedroom is only accessible through a different bedroom. It worked wonderfully for us. A solid parking spot was conveniently located next to the front door.
The kitchen is updated, fully stocked, and had everything we needed. The only con was the water filter in the fridge, it needs to be changed and hopefully that would reduce the smell from the fridge and make the water drinkable.
The owner was very responsive and offered quick responses to any inquiries.
You have access to a variety of food, coffee and activities within walking distance. The closest grocery store requires a cart or car. Give the waffle joint a try and then do a little shopping while on your morning walk.
This was a great place to celebrate our 25 year anniversary. The house was nice, clean, and quiet. Beach access right across the street which was nice for a walk or watch the sunrise/sunset.
I can see us renting again with the family.

Coco-Nuts is owned by an eighth-generation Floridian, who has always had a house on Florida's waters...and who prefers the Gulf Beaches and the quaint, quiet beaches of Anna Maria. There are many times we visit our home for pleasure and to make sure it is maintained for our family and guests .
Why they chose this property
This property was built and owned by a famous local sports commentator, who did many of his sports fishing news off the local Rod & Reel Pier. Its unique design is probably influenced by his son, who is a well-known Tampa architect. It is a corner lot and the beach access and beach is just across the road.
There are also 4 other beach accesses within a short walking distance - two being directly onto the Bean Point area. Our beach access leads to a wide white sandy beach. There are 3 Bean Point accesses on the northern tip. Ours is on the Gulf side. It is the widest and most deep. It is also the most private. The other two accesses are also only a short walk. The last of the three opens to the bay side. This location lends itself to good fishing, shelling, and manatees and dolphins coming andgoing from Tampa Bay to the Gulf.
Our beach access has a beautiful walk to the beach where sea oats, dunes, and silky white sands await you. It is often the site for photographers to do photo shoots as the access is lined by stucco walls with overhanging trees forming an arch and shade for beach goers. We love watching the bridal parties doing pre-weddinng photos. In addition, sometimes we have guest bagpiper who comes down at sunset to play "Amazing Grace" ...a perfect way to end the day.!
We do allow dogs, depending on breed, size and their level of education. They must be able to understand the rules and dog regulations applying to the city and to Coconuts, including the city leash, barking laws, and beach regulations. They must social distance, especially from Tebow, our resident turtle. Tebow is trying to come out of retirement and has to work on improving his runningtime.
Main street for AM is Pine Ave. 15 miute walk, where the free trolley comes to AM Pier parking lot. It is lined with great restaurants, boutiques, bike rentals, salons, art studios, and even an olive oil outpost. You are going to love AM!
What makes this property unique
Since the owner also uses this property as often as time allows, Coco-nuts is constantly being upgraded and maintained. Hurricane impact windows have been installed and appliances such as large screen TV, TVs in all bedrooms, refrigerators, dishwashers, stoves are the newer models. Ceiling fans are throughout the house. Two charcoal grilsl are provided on the back patio.
Beach chairs are provided along with a sturdy beach cart.
The back courtyard is surrounded by a four foot seawall and gates. There are two areas gated so that pets from upstairs and downstairs can remain separated. The courtyard holds an umbrella/ patio table for six and other patio chairs. There is also an outdoor shower to wash the sand and salt off. The courtyard is accessed by the back kitchen doors and the garage door.
Location is right across from beach access plus within walking distance to 3 other beach accesses to the Gulf of Mexico. It is in the most private area of Anna Maria on the last expanse of the western Gulf Beach. Walk around the corner and you can be on Tampa Bay. This is the best area to fish from the shore, see the manatees, watch the dolphins swim by. It is within walking distance to the shops and restaurants on Anna Maria. You can catch the free trolley from 7AM to 11PM and go anywhere on the island!
