Carolyn and Don are caring hosts. We had cookies and fresh bread upon our arrival. This attention was greatly appreciated after a long day of travelling. The cabin is clean and very comfortable. It has everything you need to cook. Information is provided to plan your adventures in the NW Montana. The location is beautiful and calm. We recommend it without any hesitation.
A beautiful place to stay in West Kootenai, the immaculately furnished and perfectly maintained Bullet Hole Cabin anticipates every need of your visit! Thoughtfully organized, host Carolyn offered numerous ideas of what to do in the area and detailed each. We enjoyed a beautiful short hike to a dazzling waterfall and swimming in Lake Koocanusa. Wild turkeys and deer visited outside our back porch and the red raspberries from the garden were delicious. Thank you for a family respite with Montana splendor!
This was a great place to stay to visit an old friend for a few days who lives just a mile from the cabin. Everything about the cabin was wonderful and I highly recommend it.
Carolyn and Don were wonderful hosts, including providing fresh cookies and bread upon check in. The cabin was spotless and in a beautiful location. We visited for my daughter's 30th birthday and definitely will be returning.
The Bullet Hole cabin fit our needs and was a wonderful place to be able call home for a few days. We had never been in that part of our state, so this was very central to what we wanted to do.
We had an incredible time! The cabin was exactly what we needed for some down time. The hike to the border was a good workout. The bathtub on the main floor was luxurious especially after a long day of hiking. We truly enjoyed our stay.
The cabin is remote, which is what we were looking for. It was very charming, spotless, and exactly as advertised. Carolyn is a fantastic host, and we hope to be back very soon!
Wonderful property that has everything you need to have a peaceful or fun experience! A must-see is the Amish country store! Super clean and would love to come back and stay longer!
Carolyn truly is super host! Friendly and very available and helpful. Location is lovely for quiet and nature. Cabin comes with EVERYTHING one needs. Very clean. We appreciated the Amish culture and history.
What a perfect property to schedule a peaceful getaway! We all had a wonderful 1st time visit to Montana and The Bullet Hole Cabin was just the type of home away from home we were looking for. Carolyn and Don were exceptional hosts and had absolutely EVERYTHING we needed for our week, including camping chairs for an outside event we were visiting for. Our beds were comfortable, clean as well as the rest of the cabin. Hot water on demand was a nice treat along with the fresh baked Amish cookies and bread upon our arrival. I can't explain the feeling of walking out on the back porch to ALL THE SOUNDS of nature and the crisp morning air. Seeing real mountains at Glacier National Park and that turquoise water of the Kootenai Falls was unforgettable! Overall a 15/10 experience and I will most certainly be back to stay at this amazingly cozy cabin in the woods! Being .08 of a mile from the Canadian boarder was a long way from Birmingham, Alabama and I made sure to get my passport stamped in Canada while we visited Fernie, BC! Please do yourself a favor and unplug from the rest of the world to experience this tranquil, quiet, place of beauty and serenity. Loved every minute of our week long stay.
Our stay was incredible. We attended a wedding in Montana. The drive was a bit far from Eureka but went by quick because the scenery was amazing!! The cabin was spotless and the beds super comfortable. The little touches the owner includes like condiments made not having a convenience store close perfect!!
Property owner was great and very informative providing detailed information regarding recreational activities and nearby towns. Super clean and cozy cabin. Highly recommend! Fall colors this year were amazing! If you like the forest and being tucked away in a remote area then you will like this location.

The season began with great guests and ended with great guests. We love hosting to wonderful people!
Idyllic wilderness on the Canadian border. Lots of deer and wild turkeys. Friendly Amish community. Very homey cabin, very well provisioned. Beautiful and quiet. Near lots of memorable outdoor adventures.
Quick girls weekend get-away. We had an amazing time, just talking, catching up, playing games and eating. It was a snowy 🌨, windy weekend, but we drove down to the Amish store and had fresh donuts 🍩 and coffee one morning. Such a cute place and friendly people. Truly enjoyed our weekend of relaxation. Highly recommend this place. We definitely come back.
From the time I booked until the time we left, it was an incredible experience all around! Carolyn is the literal hostess with the mostest, so sweet, so detailed, so informative. I would 1000/10 recommend this cabin and this trip in general! Thank you so much for your hospitality and your beautiful, clean home! We will be back! ☺️
We had the best time staying at this cabin, everything was clean when we arrived, everything was also fully furnished, we didn’t need to make a trip to town for anything! Don and Carolyn were beyond spectacular hosts, very friendly and helpful! On our first day we hiked to the Canadian border and did stuff around the cabin. We really enjoyed our time on the back porch where we ate most of our meals and watched the wildlife. We are already planning our trip back! Don and Carolyn are our new amazing friends from Montana and we can’t wait to see them again on our next trip back! If you are thinking about renting this cabin you will not be disappointed! 👍
The Bullet Hole Cabin is the best of both worlds! There is so much to do in the area but the tranquil setting and the beautiful cabin make it hard to leave. Morning coffee on the back deck was my favorite; so much wildlife roaming around. The town of Eureka has great shops and restaurants and there is great hiking and beaches near the cabin. The cabin was so cozy and had everything I needed.
Carolyn is seriously a Super Host. She has put together an incredible book of ALL the attractions, how to get there, best times to go, and a little history to boot. She is absolutely a delightful person to talk to and she has a wealth of knowledge to share.
Best trip of the summer!

Paradise Vacation Spot!
The Bullet Hole Cabin is located in the most beautiful and remote area of Montana. Carolyn and Don and their family are outstanding hosts and are helpful in providing detailed information on the local sights and activities. The cabin is immaculate and well-stocked with supplies--they have thought of every detail, right down to extra toiletries and even drink coolers for daytime excursions/picnics at the lake! The nearby convenience store came in handy and the drive into Eureks is only about 30 minutes. This is a wonderful vacation destination for a family--our two children can't wait to return next year to the Bullet Hole Cabin. The children loved seeing the wildlife--deer, moose, and elk and the fishing was great. The West Kootenai area is the best kept secret in Montana!
We wandered every NF road or trail that was open. We obtained hundreds of top notch pictures. We even called Tom & Nancy Oar. We were able to meet with them at there cabin. Just like on TV, very nice friendly people. Of course we bought a sweet knife from them.
The local Amish store about a mile a way was worth an almost daily visit for fresh eggs, bread or cookies.
I would highly recommend if you want remote and quiet. Well stocked home.
First of all, the property is adorable -- even better than the pictures showed. It truly felt like home, from the full-size coffee pot and fully stocked kitchen to the well-supplied bathrooms and comfortable bedrooms. Then, let's talk about the front AND back porches from which we saw all kinds of wildlife and spent hours talking and laughing. We hiked into the woods all the way to the Canadian border and we drove to Idaho for lunch and went off GPS using a paper map to find our way back to the cabin through some of the most beautiful country in the world on back country roads! We wanted to relax and enjoy the company of our life-long friends, and the Bullet Hole cabin delivered. We loved every minute of our stay and hope to return. Carolyn and Don were excellent hosts, providing a TON of information about things to do in and around the area, and I can't say enough to convey how happy we were with our stay. It was truly a vacation should be.
