About this property
1800s Charm with Modern Perks
Home was originally built in the 1800s! In renovating to provide useable space we’ve tried to keep as much character as possible while allowing for the comforts of 2022. Ideally we’d love our guests to come visit and take a cue from life before modern technology. Take a couple days, detach from smart devices, pick up a book, try a new recipe, nap, enjoy life’s simplicities. However if you are looking for local activities we’ve got that too!
The space
Main living space is open concept with a kitchenette, living room, with a loft above. Additional sleeping space provided with a pullout couch (double) with an amazing mattress topper for comfort. Bathroom has tiled shower, vanity and toilet. Stairs going to loft / bedroom are secure but there is also a pull out couch if mobility is an issue.
Guest access
There are 2 homes located on this property. The white one in front built in 1920 and the original home built in the 1800s (current listing). We renovated this property in 2022. The yard is a shared space between both homes and both homes are rented out at times. Parking for home is behind the smoke house at end of graveled area.
Other things to note
Home was originally built in the 1800s. In order to make this home liveable we had to completely renovate but in doing this we tried to preserve as much character as possible. Styles chosen throughout where common in late 1800s to early 1900s. All interior wood is reclaimed and wood walls come from a old cotton mill from south Ga. Beside the French doors you can see the original foundation beams used when the house was built, notice the axe marks. You’ll notice the well (covered/secured) on the back porch and you’ll see the smoke house behind the property. Doors are original to home and you’ll see the rocks that served as the homes foundation for more than a century. This home does not have a dishwasher or washer/ dryer but has all other modern comforts to help your stay be enjoyable.
Large and private back yard for kids to run and play. Corn hole, jump rope, chalk, balls and other activities provided on site. Guest must be at least 21 years old to rent property.
Ideally we’d love our guests to come visit and take a cue from life before modern technology. Take a couple days, detach from smart devices, pick up a book, try a new recipe (a few of my favorites are provided in the welcome book on site!), take a nap, enjoy life’s simplicities. However, if your intent is different and would like to do some exploring please check out the “Neighborhood” section for activities and things to do.
