My son had a few days off drom school. We had 1 day of sunny weather but otherwise cool and rainy. No worries, a great excuse to sit in front of the fireplace and relax. We enjoy the ability to talk and relax in the comfy den. Will be back in a few days for a more extended stay. Thank you!
We had a great stay at this home. The location was excellent and we appreciated the information on local restaurants. The home was located on a beautiful river and I'm sure in other seasons the views would be spectacular. The beds were comfortable and cozy and we would not hesitate to stay here again.
Thank you again for sharing the idyllic spot you have on the River. I think it is a lovely and peaceful spot. This was the winter where it is not just cold but it is snowy. No worry, the fireplace makes everything warm and cozy. As i rushed out of the house today i was thinking I need a few more days of "R&R." Just going to pick a weekend .. even if my son is busy. I think there is still much art for me to explore in the house. And I like sitting outside listening to the falls.Left Falls Village happy that i got to see my son, amazed by the River and excited to return for more. Enjoy the wintry days.Hope to be back soon,The Wahls
My son and I have stayed in The Cottage many times. It is close to his school yet there is a relaxing calm he feels at the house. He likes to do school work on the enclosed "balcony" while Im lounging on the comfy chair just watching the river activity. We enjoy the fact that the Falls are right outside.
We cook some great meals. The kitchen has a variety of staples. In warm weather you can BBQ and dine outside. Say good morning with coffee - there is a press, a standard machine that uses grounds and many othersc (no keurig but hey, you are relaxing. Make great coffee and dont rush!)
The house has different artwork, a library of books about famous artists that can be enjoyed while the fireplace warms you. .
I was sad to leave but already have two reservations for future. Probably will try mo= in Winter.
Thank you Danielle and Mario!
This home was built by an artist and contains many beautiful embellishments and pieces of art. Three of us were very comfortable in the space and appreciated all of the ways that outside views were incorporated in to the inside space. The location was serene, peaceful and convenient to several several pleasant towns. We absolutely would stay here again and enjoyed learning about the owners, and their passions, by spending time in this unique and welcoming home.
Despite being an older historical home, we did not experience any haunting.
Good WiFi, comfortable furniture. Pretty location and very quiet. We never saw another person or car in the area.
Only thing it needs is an air conditioner upstairs. We stayed in the summer time and it was stifling hot up there. Would stay again
Everything about this house is wonderful. The large deck faces the river and is an inviting place for morning coffee or a bbq. We grilled on the new Weber grill twice. The covered patio is a serene place to read or eat breakfast. The house is a gem, comfortable and warm, very clean and stocked well. The location is perfect. My wife worked on zoom and I bicycled daily. The hosts obviously take pride in what they do and were very communicative. This is the best vrbo we have ever been to. It was a great week in a beautiful home.
Languid river, tall trees in all their shaded canopy, and an artistic hideaway. A small nook to sit and enjoy breakfast or lunch in inclement weather. An expansive deck to enjoy in fair weather. And inside all the comforts of a caring home. Oh, and be sure to notice the intriguing, intricate artwork throughout.
Relaxing in Falls Village has become an annual event. This year we used the fireplace as 'ambience" rather than a necessity.
The Housatonic was not frozen during this stay so we were able to hear the Falls.
The house has has so many great places to sit and relax. Art is everywhere ! The den is perfect with couch and easy chair. The dining room and kitchen have the basics - even seasonings. The second floor is where my son finds some much needed rest on school break -,it also has another bedroom..
.
Anyone in search of peace and relaxation will enjoy the tranquility at the cottage.
It was a snowy weekend in Connecticut, but the house was warm and cozy! We are now accustomed to visiting The Cottage. Danielle and Mario have created a beautiful interior complete with "artist corner" - books on the great artists. We just enjoy staring at the River, listening to the Falls and enjoying the fireplace. Very peaceful indeed.
We are looking forward to another stay!
We had a wonderful weekend at this rental. Mario and Danielle were wonderful to rent from. Would give six stars if we could. Great place to relax and unwind. Would def stay again.
We were very happy to return to The Cottage at Falls Village. The weather allowed for both indoor and outdoor time. But sitting in the den with the cozy furniture and fireplce lit made our long weekend!
The master bedroom always is super comfy. You can stay in bed or sit in the little room overlookung the Housatinic. The upstairs area is perfect for some privacy and quiet. My son used it as his study.
I look forward to my next stay at The Cottage!
This is our second time to Falls Village and this cottage. The views cannot be beat, especially in the fall! Every thing was wonderful in the home! We hope to be able to rerun again sometime.
Both my husband and I fell in love with this beautiful home. We enjoyed our weekend get-away even though the weather was not the best, we stayed comfortable and cozy. It is truly a special and welcoming place.
This was my fifth visit and my wife's fourth, and fortunately, nothing much has changed, except for some nice new deck furniture. Once we unpack and settle in, the quiet and beauty of the cottage and its location transform us. We will continue to make our April visit an annual tradition.
This is our second time staying at The Cottage. My son's school had a long weekend so the time was perfect to visit. The cottage is relaxing: fresh air, pretty glass windows and great art work throughout the home. We visited local areas but we happy to return to the comfy cottage each evening.
We will be back to enjoy more relaxation time in Falls Village!
My son and I wanted a place to stay where we could just take a deep breath and relax. This is the perfect spot! No one guessed it would be 0° for 2 days ... but there was plenty of heat AND a fireplace to keep us warm. We actually turned the heat down and shut fireplace off because the den is so cozy.
We bought several days of food and made good use of the kitchen to make dinners. (No dishwasher but no needed.)
The bedrooms were terrific! The bed in the master BR was superb. Soft bedding, excellent pillows and terrific duvet with extra blankets. The other BR is upstairs. Equally comfortable and attached to a private sitting area with nice couches (the music room). We opted for the stained glass windows, fireplace, couch and easy chair downstairs, but the other area is a bonus.
The art in the house is lovely - all calling you to look closer. We laughed at the hidden light switches - we were stumped - but found the answer(s) in the cottage handbook. The dark wood throughout the house was truly lovely. The various handpaintings in the house were nice.
Because it was so cold, we did not open other doors to the back of the house to go to the back porch. The house is ON the banks of the Housatonic River - it froze over for most of our stay. That's cold. We saw a train pass under the area below the house. Cool! We hoped to have breakfast in the room connected to the Master BR but it was too cold. Something to look forward to on our next visit!
We will be back in a few weeks. Thank you Danielle and Mario!
Perfect long weekend getaway for four adults. Nice quiet location to rejuvenate. The back porch is the perfect place for morning coffee. You could spend a couple hours just poking around the art work. Danielle was a great host and responsive to every question..
