Lightning's Homestead - where Reno charm meets the old west.
Welcome to Lightning’s Homestead. Where Reno charm meets the spirit of the Old West.
Centrally located yet full of character, this inviting home offers a unique blend of comfort and nostalgia. It’s a place where stories are shared a little longer, laughter feels a little louder, and time seems to slow down just enough to truly relax.
With three spacious bedrooms and two beautifully updated bathrooms, there’s plenty of room for family and friends to gather comfortably. Step outside to the engaging backyard, perfect for unwinding after a day of exploring.
Inside, the charm continues, gather around the pianola (self-playing piano) and fill the home with the timeless melodies of years past. In the mornings, sip your coffee on the back patio while listening to the native Northern Nevada birds greet the day.
Lightning’s Homestead isn’t just a place to stay, it’s an experience, full of warmth, character, and a touch of the Old West waiting to welcome you.

Apparently the housekeepers completely ignored the gas BBQ on the patio. It was filthy, had broken control knobs and igniter, there were half cooked tortilla shells still on the grill, and two half empty beer bottles on the side tray.
This made for a difficult situation since we had planned for a family BBQ dinner. I have photos if requested.
Our email confirmation guided us to the property. We showed up to the door and I opened up my app inbox to get entry instructions. That was when I saw my inbox message that it had been double booked. To their partial credit, the message was sent 6 days prior. However, I hadn’t been prompted to check my inbox. The property manager was apologetic in the message and asked me to cancel the booking. Obviously I didn’t cancel the booking (didn’t see the message) and no effort was made to follow up with me. Fortunately Reno has a lot of accommodations and we were able to find another place to stay.
I can’t say anything about the property because we never made it inside. However, this review requires stars. The property looked very clean from the outside. I’m sure it would have been lovely, but again we arrived and didn’t get to stay at the property. Communication with the property management company has been substandard. They asked me to cancel the booking, but I could not because it was after the check in time. This is my first negative experience with VRBO and I have learned a valuable lesson: your email confirmation is not sufficient. Make sure to check your app inbox messages because you will not be contacted through email or via phone. I made an assumption- please learn from my mistake. I am awaiting a full refund.
