About this property

Relaxing Cottage with 3-bedrooms on 4-acres

Relax with the whole family at our Shady Oaks Cottage, which is located on 4-acres of land, including 2 playgrounds and lots of land to play!

We love spending long weekends out here visiting wineries and breweries, exploring local swimming holes, actually seeing the stars at night, and enjoying the quiet. Because we love this property and the hill country so much, we wanted to let others get a sample of it as well!

The home includes 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms (one with a tub), a living room and kitchenette. The kitchenette features a full-size fridge & freezer, a portable induction cooktop surface, a toaster-oven/air-fryer, and a blender.

The Shady Oaks Cottage is located in a private neighborhood off a dirt road, so your car will get a little dusty. We're located within a 7 minute drive to Shady Llama and a little over 10 minutes to Wimberley Square.

Our cottage is the ideal space for a family with kids looking to get away from the city, a group of friends in town for a wedding, or a girls weekend.

Our family and children also live in the main house nearby. This is not the right place for you if you're looking to throw a large party.

Our guests will always have the privacy of the cottage and lots of space to spread out. We will be on the property in our home once in a while, and will let you know whether to expect us to be around.

TEMPORARY NOTE: We are having a pool built on the property, and there may be contractors on the property during the week through the end of August. We do not anticipate active construction during the weekend, but there may be exceptions that arise.

The house was comfortable with an at home feeling for my family of 6. Very peaceful setting, other than the small communication mishap about some construction that was happening on the property it was great. We will definitely use this property again when we come back to visit.

Wedding stay
My wife, two daughters, one son in law and myself stayed here for two nights for my other daughter's wedding. We found the home very roomy and comfortable for us all. It was a big help having two bathrooms available for us all to be able to get ready. It is a great remote place and was private and relaxing. You do travel a couple of miles on a dirt road to get there but the road is well maintained as long as you don't mind a little dust on your vehicle. There are many wineries and small towns around to explore and I would love to return when we have the time to do so!

Spring Break Family Trip
We chose this rental property due to its proximity to my family closer to Dripping Springs. Since we had my parents with us as well as our toddler we did not want to choose a hotel. The property was incredibly clean and met all of our needs. The kitchenette was barely used, but it did have any necessities we may have needed. It definitely took away the stress of trying to find a place that could accommodate a toddler. The owners even provided some toys, books, pack 'n play, and high chair so that we didn't have to bring as much which was incredibly thoughtful. My toddler even started referring to is as our "cation" (for vacation) house. We will definitely look into this property again next time we visit our relatives. The only complaint I do have, which I don't think would have dissuaded us from booking the property, is that to reach the property you need to travel down a 1.5 mile long gravel/bumpy road which felt like a lot for our cars. Other than that, everything was terrific.

Why they chose this property

We loved coming out to the Hill Country on weekends and exploring downtown Wimberley, going on hikes in the region, and hopping to breweries or wineries. Then we bought this property, and loved doing all of these things and then coming back to a peaceful, quiet retreat where we were close to our daytime activities, but far away from the hustle and bustle. Turning onto the dirt road transports us away from city life, and into a little country getaway, where we can spend evenings looking up at the stars.
