Grazie mille Jennifer! Thank you for sharing your experiences of a stay at Casa Colomba in Vicopisano. As you discovered our little corner of Tuscany has much to offer and it is an ideal location for taking in the sights of Pisa, Lucca and Florence. We loved the fact that we were able to share some memorable experiences with you such as a Tuscan cooking lesson and a visit to the wine region for some wine tasting! It was great to meet you both and although you managed to fit in quite a lot in the four nights we really hope to invite you back to Casa Colomba to discover the rest of what our little corner of Tuscany has to offer!

Dear Brent, wow! What a fabulous review, so much feedback and it’s great to know you enjoyed your stay in Tuscany. We are delighted that we were able to make your wedding anniversary a special one and we thank you so much for choosing to stay with us for such an important event. We had so much fun with you during your stay with us, it’s always great if we can get to spend some time with our guests. It’s nice to know that you found our little corner of Tuscany both authentic and affordable, you are right Florence is very expensive but then most big touristy cities are, but they are also a must do experience and close enough that you can do it in a day. Like our previous guests you were here during our superhot heatwave which caught us all off guard. Yes, you are right we are always looking at ways to install AC however a certain amount of restrictions as we are in the historic centre and the authorities don’t take kindly to the refrigeration units being attached to the Medieval buildings. Casa Colomba is large apartment with 3 main rooms so one internal AC unit is not going to cool every room, but we are looking into it, hopefully the abnormally hot summer will not be repeated! Despite the heatwave it was great to hear that you enjoyed the sights, sounds, tastes and overall true ‘memorable experiences’ during your stay with us. Christian and Denise were fantastic guests and during the 12 nights they stayed with us we got to know them quite well and we enjoyed a night together in the garden over a bottle or two of Prosecco! We are certainly looking forward to welcoming them back to Casa Colomba in the future.

Dear Volker, Thank you for taking the time to review Casa Colomba and for your kind comment about being a natural host! I must admit hosting is something that is a complete pleasure for Lorenzo and I and we are so pleased that you appreciated our hospitality, flexibility on an early check-in, restaurant recommendations and concierge service where we booked the restaurants for you. On the other hand, we were a little bemused about your comment ‘many steps and hot in August’. Traditionally the month of August is hot in Tuscany and I believe that this is a well-known fact. To be honest we would not expect people to book a vacation in Tuscany in August if they suffered from the heat. We had provided fans for you in every room and we were surprised to find that you had actually given one of these fans away to your friends who were staying in a nearby apartment as you declared that you had more fans than necessary! We are also finding it strange that you had to sleep with the windows closed as there are mosquito screens on all the windows! Regarding the mosquitoes in the garden - this is a natural phenomenon which occurs throughout rural Tuscany and many Mediterranean countries throughout the Summer. The use of insecticides is rarely welcome by local councils as it is seen as not being extremely healthy for the environment. Usually, a mosquito repellent keeps them away and when I spent some time with you in the garden, I did notice that you were actually using a repellent! Regarding the stairs!!! Our listing clearly states that Casa Colomba is a ‘Tower House’ and it is clearly stated in our listing under ‘accessibility’ that there are 34 steps to reach the apartment, so we are not sure why you were surprised by the stairs. Finally, I must apologise for the broken entrance buzzer (which allows the door to open automatically without the key) which was broken when you arrived. We did explain that the previous guests who departed from the apartment on the same day as your arrival had broken it and that we could provide you with another key until we were able to fix it – however, we apologise that we were not able to get a technician out to fix it during your short stay with us. Sadly, finding tradesmen in Italy at a drop of a hat during the traditional Italian holiday of August can be a little trying! Despite your discomfort in the August heat, we do hope you give us another chance - maybe it would be a good idea to come at a different time of the year. You were lovely guests and it was nice to meet you all and we would happily host you again. Take care and best wishes Marie and Lorenzo
