We had a great stay at this rental! Only complaint was the hot tub was very hot at the start, so we did have to wait a while for it to cool down with the hose. Overall a great stay!
This place is confortable and super well situated for visiting Volcanoes National Park, which was our goal. Hot tub is a great bonus. The place was nice and clean, but does not have much cookware. If you're OK eith this, it is a great rental.
The property was great. We would have given a 5 / 5 is there was a mirror in bathroom, condiments (even just salt and pepper), and if there was a cover on the bed platform as it stuck out past the mattress and was uncomfortable on our legs.
the spot was great to experience the volcano eruption and land back into a fern gully sanctuary. The bathroom was without a mirror or a shower curtain or door which was mildly inconvenient and strange. the beds were cozy and the hot tub was great. A great time was had by all!!
This place is in the middle of the beautiful Ohia and fern tree forest. There is a fireplace to keep you toasty warm but being from Seattle I didn’t need it. The hot tub wasn’t working but I would go back in either case. I loved that it is so close to Volcanoes National Park.
We had a couple of great nights at this place. The property was a beautiful little yard in the jungle with a trail to the hot tub. The place was a little worn, but just fine for us- my only wish was for a couple more pillows (4 of us there).
The location was fantastic- about 4 minutes to the park gate! This really helped us maximize our short visit to volcano, which was super awesome
The fridge didn’t work when we got there. The host was unresponsive for 24 hours after sending two messages. Our perishable food spoiled and cost us 50. There was no cleaning equipment to clean floors. There was mould on the bedding, the towels were rags and one was filthy. The beds were not at all comfortable and one had a slab of foam on the top of it. The utensils included 2 sharp knives and three spoons. That’s it. There were no glasses just a few mugs.

Beautiful location
Beautiful location near Volcanoes National Park and Volcano Village. Quiet, rain-forest grounds with fiddleheads, ferns, anthurium on walking path to hot tub. I was traveling with my hula sister and we wanted to watch the Merrie Monarch Festival on TV. The television was old with poor reception. I tried to contact the host through VRBO but couldn't get through. Called the VRBO help line and they cut me off so we watched on my computer instead. Glad I had it with me! Otherwise a pleasant stay.

Budget stay
As expected, the accommodations do not live up to the photos but that is fairly typical with any online rental. We were pretty disappointed to find the hot tub was very dirty and had frogs and frog eggs inside so we decided not to use it. The biggest plus was the view of all of the tropical trees and plants from the windows and the location was very close to the park. There are not really many dining or shopping options near by so make sure to make your stops in Hilo on your way in! We also experienced an internet outage while there so if you’re someone who relies on wi-fi that could be an issue but it wasn’t a very big deal for us. This rental is great for visiting the park but maybe not if you plan on spending much time relaxing at the actual room. The amount of space was good for our family of 3 but would be very cramped if you have more than one child. All in all it was fine but didn’t exceed our expectations, which is expected for this price on the island I’m sure.
The description is NOT accurate! The parking is an issue. There is NOT a full kitchen. It is a mini fridge and a hot plate, which meant our food we bought for our family of 4 couldn't fit in the fridge and we couldn't make the meals that we had brought. Then we tried the hot tub and the water was very murky. Then we tried to shower and there was no shower curtain and no mirror. Then the kids tried a bath and the water was orange and there was no bath stopper. Then we tried to go to sleep. We were awoke at night by another renter saying we were in their spot. My husband got out of bed and went outside to find out that someone was needing our parking spot saying it was theirs. It was true that we parked there because it was the only spot left. There was someone in our parking spot. The owner could not be located so my husband was outside for over an hour trying to figure out where to park since we moved to allow the other person to park. Eventually another renter moved their car forward enough for us to park behind but still in the road a little bit. Back in bed. Then the upstairs renters got home and we learned that every step is like someone is walking on top of you. It was well after 1am before we fell asleep and then the upstairs renters got up at 4am and walked around packing and loading their car. We maybe got 2-3 hours of sleep that night. We tried to call the hosts twice with no answer. The hosts were not helpful via text message. DISAPPOINTING!
