Tater Bug Retreat is located on 1.3 acres in the beautiful Lost Creek neighborhood, right in the heart of all Hochatown has to offer. Tater Bug Retreat is an 1800 square foot modern farmhouse that will comfortably sleep 10, with two king ensuites downstairs. Upstairs you will find a closed in loft with a queen bed, a bunk room that features two full over full bunks, and a large walk in shower for both rooms. All rooms feature large wall mounted T.V.'s.

When you arrive at Tater Bug Retreat you will see a beautiful log cabin that will give you all the feels of the outdoors. Upon entering this beautifully decorated spacious modern farmhouse you will immediately notice the grand 32 foot ceilings. The spacious open concept is perfect for family gatherings. You will find all the amenities you need to feel right at home with a fully stocked kitchen with all the appliances you might need as well as a keurig-k duo plus coffee maker to get your day off to a great start. The gorgeous granite countertops provide a great work space for preparing meals. The farmhouse table and large island will provide seating for 12. Perfect for a family meal. After an adventurous day you will love relaxing in the large 7 person hot tub that sits on a large covered deck with a 70 inch T.V. above the fireplace. Tater Bug Retreat has plenty of board, card, and dice games to choose from, including corn hole and a 60 game arcade console! Finally after a wonderful day, enjoy the beautiful sunset and reflect on the memories made while enjoying s'mores at the fire pit.

Broken Bow is a perfect place to bring your family or a group of friends for your next get away. You will enjoy all the many activities Hochatown has to offer including, hiking, zip lining, a petting zoo, bowling, corn maze, hot air balloons, shopping, great restaurants, beautiful Broken Bow lake, and much, much more.

Absolutely beautiful cabin with everything we could ever need!

This cabin is the perfect blend of beauty and home. It was easy to be cozy and comfortable but with an elevated feel because of how nice the cabin is and how gorgeous all the surroundings are. This trip for me was a girls trip to get together, uninterrupted, with best friends from college and we couldn’t have picked a better place for the trip.

Great getaway location

Beautiful home with great spaces for the entire family to gather. The indoor and outdoor gas fireplace were great on chilly mornings/evenings. Very comfortable rooms and basics (coffee, spices, soap, etc) you may have forgotten to take.

Amazing Weekend

We had an amazing weekend at the Tater Bug Retreat! So much fun to be together outside with the hot tub, fire pit, TV, etc. The house was very clean and accommodating. The old school video arcade was a big hit! We hope to return in the future.

Taterbug Retreat was amazing! The cabin was spotless when we arrived, very well kept, everything in proper working order (including the battery operated candles outside by the fireplace!). Communication with owner was great, very responsive and kind. This cabin has everything you could need for a getaway. From toiletries, towels for hot tub, marshmallow roasters to throw blankets. Fabulous job on this cabin, down to the tiny details. Also - beds were ALL very comfortable!

Amazing Time

We had an amazing time at Tater Bug Retreat! There were so many extras to help us have a great time (firewood, roasting sticks, games, s'mores kits, "magic" fire, etc.). The kitchen was well stocked and we loved the special dishes, cups, and silverware for the kids. We had a couple of questions (sheets for the sleeper sofa and how to turn on the outdoor lights) and we got answers to the texts within 10 minutes. This was the perfect way to relax and view the eclipse.

We named our cabin Tater Bug Retreat after our precious nephew Tate who passed away in July of 2021, at the young age of 24, from cancer after a 2 year fight. Tate was one of the kindest people you could ever meet. He included everyone, and was a friend to all, especially those on the margins. Hochatown has become our happy place but even more special knowing it was the last place Tate enjoyed time with his closest friends before passing a couple days later. We thought it was only fitting to name our cabin after him as a way to honor him and the fight he fought so hard with such grace. We hope you will stay at Tater Bug retreat and make wonderful memories with your family and friends. When you do, we will be giving a portion back to the Rutledge Cancer Foundation. When Tate was receiving treatment during the holidays, this amazing foundation provided Christmas stockings full of heartfelt gifts. His favorite was a wireless speaker. In 2021, we gave one speaker for each of the 250 stockings delivered to hospitals in the DFW area to children and young adults fighting cancer. This stocking was such an encouragement and brought a smile to his face and we want to continue to give in Tate's memory.
We first visited Hochatown in October of 2020 and immediately feel in love with this cute little town. So much so that we started looking for a cabin to purchase, when almost out of nowhere a few months later, the opportunity to build fell in our lap. We are a family of three from the DFW area with a large extended family and dear friends! We are not only looking forward to making memories with our family and friends, but are equally excited to share our cabin for others to enjoy Hochatown and make special memories of their own.

We privately manage this cabin and pride ourselves on being available to our guests. You will have both our cell phone numbers and are able to text with any questions. We also provide a detailed Online Guidebook prior to your stay with all the details you'll need to know on the home as well as a local area resource guide on things to do. We hope that whether you're coming up for a romantic getaway, a girls' trip or a fun vacation with your family, we can make your experience as fun and memorable as possible!
