This was a short trip with family. It’s half way between us and 1 of our daughters. It was a good little get away. The weather didn’t cooperate much, but we did enjoy our time. I definitely would go again. We go to Bama games from Dallas every once in a while, so this would be convenient. The Alabama coffee mug in the cabinet was a nice surprise! RTR!
The house was only 30 minutes from the Mississippi State football game we were in town for and offered a lot of space for a reasonable price. We appreciated the comfortable, clean, updated furnishings, kitchen, and bathrooms. We would love to return here again in the future!
The place was very clean and we had plenty of room. We loved staying here.
Just a few suggestions…
1. Night lights for the bathrooms
2. Luggage rack in the bedrooms
3. Add a on at dusk, off at dawn front porch light for guests arriving at night.
It is a great place and we had a lot of fun!
The house was just as pictured. Very clean, very comfortable, and very private! The small children LOVED the tire swing. The lake was very easy to get in with the kayak, and the banks were clear for fishing. Perfect weekend getaway for our big family!
We are from Ohio and our children and Grandchildren from Colorado stayed with us at This wonderful Alabama VRBO. We were all there for our Grandson's graduation from High School. The VRBO was located just 14 miles from our Mississippi family's home and the graduation. Our children loved the wonderful home and large pond. Several fish were caught and released. We appreciated the opportunity to relax and rest between graduation activities in such a wonderful home out in nature. Perfect!
We absolutely LOVED this property!!!! So much property to walk around on. Very comfy, cozy. The kitchen is quite roomy!!! My only suggestion to the owner would be to make it known in the listing that the property is shared by their Family. Not that they interfered with us or anything like that, I just think with how close the homes are, it should be known up front. We envisioned a home on a ton of property in the middle of nowhere and we didn't find out about the property being shared until after we booked it. The family has dogs and they have full run of the entire compound so we would get a visitor during the day and night with Cooper. My kids loved Cooper, they miss him already. My youngest daughter said having the dogs around made them less scared of "whatever could be in the woods." My only "complaints" would be the property is too dark at night. The front lights weren't working so going out the front door at night required a flashlight. And there should probably be more than 1 tv in the house. It was absolutely FREEZING for a couple of days while we were here and we were stuck inside for longer than we'd liked. So having just 1 tv and 6 guests it was a struggle for a compromise. Either way, our son is stationed at Columbus AFB and this is the only property that we'll be staying at. I can't compliment the property enough. We used the kayak. Walked the property. Made a couple fires. But best of all we created lifetime, lasting memories. And we can't wait to make more.
The home was clean and decorated lovely. Loved all the blankets and the host was great with communication. My husband and I were in town to watch our niece play in Columbus. Two of our boys were supposed to join, but got sick so it ended up being a nice quiet couples weekend. The house is pretty remote so it’s very peaceful. Hadn’t had much rain so the lake was very low but it was still great for a nighttime walk. The few recommendations I have, maybe have more outdoor lights on if you know your guests will have a late arrival. Until you get logged in to their internet you don’t get very good cell service so screenshot the check-in instructions, but especially the door code. We had a hard time the first night, but with a little walking around we finally had enough service to get the code. While unloading our truck and taking things inside I bruised my knee on one of the patio tables because I couldn’t see. I would also suggest a little bit more lighting or different lighting in the living room. Last thing is maybe put the bedroom tv in the primary. We watched our iPad which worked for us, but some might not have that option. We will definitely keep this house on our list for the next time we’re in the area.
Family stayed here for a nearby wedding. Perfect spot. Roomy with large kitchen area- we brought in all of our own food. Very clean. Host very responsive when needed. Not much in the area, a dollar general down the street for emergency items. Gas not too far either but would have to drive for anything else. Our wedding venue was about 20 mins away. Worked well
This was an incredible stay for our family. The location is super convenient and yet surrounded by great outdoors. The property is very clean and well stocked for your stay. Melissa is very responsive if there's any need. We left feeling so thankful we could enjoy our time!
This lovely home is just as advertised. Exceptionally clean, quiet, secluded in the countryside. Kitchen stocked with virtually anything you could want. Close to Columbus where there are plenty of eating/shopping opportunities. Highly recommend Zachary’s for a great lunch/dinner. Wish we could’ve stayed longer.

Beautiful property
We loved our stay just couldn’t contact our host via the VRBO messaging system.
The updated renovations and modern decor made this place feel like a home away from home. Our group enjoyed the firm but supportive mattresses, the pillows and the extra soft and cozy blankets.
The host supplied plenty of blankets, linens, towels and extra toiletries which was a great added bonus.
The property is peaceful and secluded but a quick, easy drive to Columbus. We would definitely stay again.
Stayed here two nights for our daughter’s graduation in Starkville. Family enjoyed fishing and just being outdoors…house is big and spacious. Decor is nice and had a very homey feel to the house. Would definitely stay here again if need arose!

About the host

This property was originally purchased by my grandparents years ago and was a total of 47 acres. My grandparents house sits next door where my dad and step mom now live. My aunt and her husband built this house and my husband and I purchased it and the 25 acres from her in 2021. We fully renovated the house top to bottom and frequently come back to visit our family and enjoy this little piece of country paradise.
Why they chose this property
This house is private with a beautiful lakefront view. Our kids enjoy fishing, swimming in the lake, hiking through the forest and swinging from the 25ft tire swing. There is so much open space for kids to be kids and even a batting cage for your baseball/softball players. At night you will enjoy the firepit and the beautiful starlight sky. The house is 10 min from downtown Columbus, MS and many shops, restaurants and golf courses. Golden Triangle Airport is only 20 min away so it is super easy to travel in and out of. The house is a perfect spot to stay if you are wanting to catch an Alabama or Mississippi State game as we are only a short 45 min drive to Tuscaloosa and 25 min drive to Starkville. This is a perfect spot for parents or families that want to avoid the crowds and craziness but still go to the games.
What makes this property unique
Since my dad lives next door he is available for anything you might need, and he is the nicest guy you will ever meet.
