About this property

Custer’s End - a spacious Black Hills vacation house

This modern mountain house has all of the space, comforts and amenities your large group needs to enjoy their stay.
The property is located on 3 beautiful  acres just 5 minutes from Custer - ½ mile off the highway at the end of a well maintained County road.
This custom 4 bedroom, 3.5 bath home has almost 4000 sf with three living areas, formal dining, beds for 12 people and plenty of room for your family and friends to spread out and enjoy themselves. The house has wrap-around decks with beautiful views in all directions.
The property backs up to the Black Hills National Forest so the only traffic you’ll see is the local wildlife passing through. Solitude, spaciousness, comfort, gorgeous views and close proximity to town. This is the perfect base for your Black Hills dream vacation!
A large fully equipped kitchen opens to the great room on the elevated first floor. The kitchen has a separate breakfast area and sitting room where you can enjoy morning coffee and watch the sun rise.
The lofted great room includes a formal dining area with a table big enough to seat your entire group. Patio doors open to the expansive deck. A massive wood burning fireplace anchors the room. It also has TV and large picture windows with gorgeous views all around.
The extra-large master bedroom downstairs has a new king size Sleep Number bed where you can dial in your ideal comfort setting. Windows in the master offer beautiful views of the surrounding pines and rock outcroppings.
Upstairs is a family room that overlooks the great room and includes a 75” 4K TV where you can watch the game or stream a movie while recovering from your hike up Black Elk Peak or ride on the Mickelson Trail.
There are three unique bedrooms upstairs. Bedroom #2 offers a king size bed for the second adult couple in your group. Bedroom #3 is the family bedroom and is equipped with a queen and a full size bed. Bedroom #4 is equipped with a king size bed and two twin beds. The home is also equipped with a Pack-n-Play crib and a highchair in the kitchen for littlest ones.
Two full bathrooms are located upstairs to accommodate your family and friends.
High speed internet makes streaming movies, surfing the internet or catching up on work stuff easy. UPS and FedX deliver to the house so getting items from Amazon and etc. is doable. Cell phone coverage is also very good so you don’t have to worry about connectivity.
Custer is a historic mining town that includes a fun downtown, numerous dining options, good shopping and abundant outdoor adventures. You can rent ATV’s, go hot air ballooning, play golf, arrange for a helicopter tour, go horseback riding, fish for trout, schedule a wildlife jeep tour, learn rock climbing, rent e-bikes, crawl through caves, go kayaking or just explore the many scenic drives, historic sites and hiking trails at your leisure.
However, the main allure of Custer is its small town charm and central proximity to many Black Hills attractions including Custer State Park ("the crown jewel of the Black Hills"), Crazy Horse Monument, Mount Rushmore, Jewel Cave National Monument, Wind Cave National Park, Sylvan Lake, Custer Wildlife Loop, Michelson (Bike) Trail, Needles Highway, 1880 Train (Hill City), Centennial (hiking) Trail, Iron Mountain Road, Black Elk Peak, Norbec Wilderness Area and etc.
You don’t have to travel far from our place to get the Black Hills mountain experience. Deer and wild turkey will visit you almost every morning and evening. Mature pines, grassy meadows and lichen covered boulders surround you. You might spot an elk in the morning or hear the coyotes at night. Just hanging out on the deck listening to the wind in the trees on a sunny day, playing in the beautiful yard, climbing on the boulders or taking a hike in the adjacent National Forest will bring peace to your soul. One of our guests said that the setting was “magical.” We certainly agree and welcome you to come experience it for yourself!

4 couples had the times of our lives! Custer is the hidden gem of America. We found this awesome home when we needed a larger place when friends wanted to experience our last years ride. The location, the wildlife were amazing. So quite, you just dont get to experience much anymore! We loved it!

Great place to stay
The house is huge and it was very clean. It’s close to town (5 min drive maybe) The property is gorgeous and we had deer and turkeys visit us every evening and morning. We were there end of July and the weather was very hot, but with the windows open at night it’s cool. Lots of great fans all over the house too. The host was very communicative and accommodating, even shifting our stay when our flight was canceled the first day.
