We had a great stay while visiting our son at Purdue! The hosts were extremely welcoming and thought of everything. We loved staying in an older tiny house with a neat history. So peaceful. We will be back!

Great guests, loved the communication and will be happy to have them visit again.😊🌺
Quiet and peaceful historic cottage conveniently locatedin a beautiful setting. Stayed here to help my student move into Purdue but, I did not want to be stuck downtown. The hosts were fantastic, very accommodating and helpful! Well provisioned and the bed was super comfortable. Wish I had more time there, will definitely stay again in the future when visiting my student.

The Little House was a slice of heaven— peaceful, cozy, and the perfect place for rest and reflection. The location was ideal and the hosts were incredibly kind, thoughtful and accommodating. I would return in a heartbeat.
We really enjoyed little house. The owners were so kind and very easy to work with. This was for a small relaxing bachelorette getaway for my sister. Mike and Jacci were just wonderful! Was great for a 1 night stay. Will for sure be renting again.

Our stay was peaceful and full of amenities, including delicious homemade cookies. The private and spacious guest house offered ample parking and beautiful scenery. Jacci, our host, was responsive and kind throughout our stay, even providing fresh grapes in the fridge. We had a very enjoyable and relaxing stay with wonderful hosts, conveniently located a short drive from Purdue campus.

Great guests. Would be happy to have them stay again😊
This stay is special! Interesting history, that you can read about when you stay here. Lots of fun items to see inside the house including a small electric fireplace and rotary dial phone. Very sweet of the owners to provide homemade chocolate chip cookies, too.

This place is a perfect little house. My son and I were in the area for a motocross race at Wildcat Creek MX. Place was perfect for what we needed for the night, very clean, & comfortable. A nice short drive to the race track. Definitely would stay there again.

It was a pleasure to have a guest that is a fellow lover of historic homes. The perfect guest— hope he will stay with us again.😊
This is a nice rural house in the corn fields by Lafayette Indiana. The house has a lot of character and impressive history. For us was perfect since it is located 20 mins from Purdue.
Nice little get away for mother daughter trip. Quiet country house if you are looking for something away from the college life but close enough to still go in for dinner and shopping!! Great communication with host and so easy to get to!! Quaint little place.

About the host

This Folk Victorian home is my dream come true with its tall ceilings, many windows, and its history. Supposedly part of the Underground Railroad and definitely home to one of the first settlers of Tippecanoe County, Adam Dehart. I like to share its history with family and friends new and old.
The Little House next door was turned into a VRBO rental so that I can share the rural beauty surrounding and to let people experience staying in a home built in the 1800's.
Why they chose this property
A lot of people seeing our place for the first time assume that it is a summer kitchen. In the 1800's they were built to keep the heat from all the cooking away from the main house. They were usually very small from 100 to 400 square feet. This little house is 900 square feet with a cellar containing access to the cistern in front of the house for canning. I am thinking that perhaps this was a temporary house to live in when the main house had a horrific fire started by matches or candles in 1860 that was considered to be a total loss. Adam Dehart was one of the original settlers of Tippecanoe County. He was a well respected farmer. He and his ancestors are buried in the Wildcat Cemetery a few miles away. The stained glass in the front door window would have been an indication of wealth so probably traveling ministers probably stayed here rather than another house where it would have deprived another family to feed the minister. It is surprising to me that the staircase to the upstairs is so steep since the average height back then was 5'8" for a man and 5'2"tall for a woman. The original wooden floors and some furnishing are still there and the unique floor plan. Of course, the house has had some changes since then with new windows, steel roof, and very recently, mini split heating and air conditioning for your comfort.
What makes this property unique
This historic home is in view of farm land with all its beautiful midwest seasons, yet is only 20 minutes away from Purdue and the gorgeous downtown with its courthouse beyond compare, restaurants with many events throughout the year. We also have a zoo, that is always being updated. It is a wonderful place to live and a great place to visit.
