About this property

Beautiful & Light across from Beach & Sunsets

Immerse yourself in a winter wonderland at the Blue Heron Hideaway, where the beach is just steps from your front door, transformed into a serene, frosty landscape. This end unit in the Seaside Cottages offers a peaceful retreat during the colder months, with stunning sunsets from either of the two decks and morning sun on the side deck, where views of Terrell Creek are often adorned with a gentle dusting of snow.

Nestled in the charming seaside town of Birch Bay, the cottage is a short drive or a brisk winter walk from all the wonderful offerings of this quaint community. It's also minutes away from Birch Bay State Park, where the beach and promenade take on a magical, quiet character in winter. Here, you can unwind and breathe in the crisp sea air, surrounded by the tranquil beauty of the season.

The interior of the cottage reflects a light, bright, beachy atmosphere, now complemented by the serene winter landscape outside. There's ample space for everyone to enjoy a cozy seaside vacation during the most wonderful time of the year.

The family will love the warm and inviting bedrooms. The primary bedroom features a queen bed, TV, and a picturesque view of the creek, often blanketed in snow. The second bedroom, with a bunk bed and a twin trundle, offers a snug haven for a restful night after a day of winter exploration.

The loft couch transforms into additional space, perfect for watching TV, taking a nap, or as a play area for the kids, all while enjoying the comfort and charm of a winter escape.

Blue Heron Hideaway serves as an ideal base for exploring the area's winter activities. Walking and biking through the crisp air offer a unique perspective of the community's beauty, and there are also great opportunities for winter hiking and bird watching.

In nearby Blaine, the working marina provides a picturesque scene of boats against the backdrop of a winter sky. And back in Birch Bay or nearby Semiahmoo, kayaking or paddleboarding offers a serene experience on the water, with views of the Cascade Mountain Range, Canadian Gulf Islands, and more, all beautifully framed by the clear, crisp air of winter.

Spend hours on the tidelands at low tides, now a different world in the winter, searching for creatures or digging for shellfish (be sure to check regulations and seasons). Let the kids play in the sand, now cooler and perhaps covered in frost, while you relax on the beach, soaking in the view and the fresh, salty sea air, invigorated by the season.

The Blue Heron Hideaway is entirely your space while you are here. The neighbors are next door but when you are in the cottage you would never know it!

Birch Bay is a cute seaside town in North Western Washington. It boasts a large sandy tide flat of several square miles as the tide returns to shore the water warms in the summer. It is the perfect place for a summer vacation.

It has large heron nesting areas, a state park at the south end and outstanding birding and sightseeing throughout the year. Birch Bay is classed by the Audubon Society as one of 50 Important Birding Areas (IBA's) in Washington State, along with nearby Blaine’s Drayton Harbor.

Birch Bay has a rich history that goes back thousands of years, and in fact Captain George Vancouver in the Discovery on his Expedition in 1792 landed on Cottonwood Beach with his fellows including Peter Puget (Sound), Joseph Whidbey ( Island) & Joseph Baker (Mt). Factual legend has it that Captain Vancouver stopped in Birch Bay during 1792 Expedition and the Admiralty used the Black Birch Trees to brew beer, a common staple on the long voyage- they named Birch Bay after the same tree.
