House is very close to a northern entrance to Joshua Tree National Park. The house is large, 4 bedrooms. Beds and bedding are new, towels are good, ample toilet paper, paper towels. Great potential for a fantastic stay.
There are however, several negatives to report. The address listed in vrbo is incorrect. There are two digits transposed which made for some frustration as that address did not exist. After finally finding the house by using a photo, the self check-in lock was not working. A call to the host resolved this issue. The pool which was advertised prominently had no water in it, just a big sand box in the back yard. There is no “welcome book” so figuring out normal stuff was a challenge. For example, it took a bit to get the thermostat working, lights, etc. In addition, I had to wash the silverware before using it. There was no dishwasher soap. There were no bedside lamps in the bedrooms, only overhead lights with fans attached. One of the internal doors got locked and while there is a tool in a box in a kitchen drawer to remedy this, it took an hour to figure this out. The backyard has a firepit, but the cover on it was square instead of round and sharp, and the area was not inviting.
At the end of the stay, I am used to following directions about linens, garbage, etc. As I have said, there were no directions. Sigh.
This house has great potential, but the host has some work to do to make it top notch. A fabulous visit in park.
