Terrifying Experience/Unsafe, Dismissive Host

Awoken by multiple gunshots firing outside of the home at 5:30 in the morning. Immediately called 911 and were instructed to stay inside until it was safe to leave. Our concerns were completely disregarded by owner. This is a strait-forward violation of VRBO’s “stay neighborly” rules and has been reported to VRBO for this reason. As a group of women home alone, it would be juvenile to consider this home safe by any means. The security system was not currently “working” according to the owner and he completely dismissed our concerns for safety. We left at the quickest possible opportunity and had to take on the cost of renting a hotel. The owner ignored our requests for a full refund and only returned a humorous, small portion of the overall price. For the safety of others, I hope no one will ever trust their stay in this home or with this property owner.
