About this property

Romantic Mt. Hood Streamside Retreat, Hot Tub, BBQ, Fast WiFi. Pets Welcome, Ski

Camp Festivus is a unique 1926 Vintage cabin that has been thoughtfully restored, featuring a stone (Steiner) fireplace, reclaimed barnwood and 6 person hot tub all on a private creekside acre.

Challenge your nerve by swimming in Clear Creek or relax in the hot tub over looking the water. Indulge your inner slug, grab a book and read in the hammock.

Feeling lucky, you can try fishing in the back yard or walk across the street to see if they are biting in the Sandy river. Afterwards you can cook up what you catch at the outdoor fire pit or grill on our new Weber Connect, then fall asleep to the sound of water or gaze at the old growth trees or creek view from every window.

You can throw down your gear or tune your bike or skis in our large heated mudroom, and toast s'mores out back or come inside and listen to your favorite music via Spotify or watch a movie on one of our flat screen TV's. Do you want a bit more privacy for the adults, then the kids can go down to the comfy TV room with flat screen, dvd player and stereo, there are tons of pillows and fold out mats to relax, watch movies, or listen to music.

The iron and woodwork and much of the furniture have been custom designed and produced to maximize the beauty of the cabin as well as the surrounding area.

Camp Festivus, a place you can rest(ivus).

We love this place! Quiet, beautiful, relaxing. Hike during the day and relax in the hot tub in the evening. This was our second time renting the cabin...we'll be back!

Relaxing Stay

We stayed at this cabin while we skied over the weekend. The stone fireplace was epic, we loved using it along with the hot tub for apres ski. The kitchen was well equipped to cook meals. Beds were cozy. We had a wonderful time and also enjoyed the Seinfeld references scattered throughout. The host was very accommodating with a late checkout - much appreciated!

Bird lovers paradise

Loved relaxing and feeding all the beautiful birds occupying the property, especially the two geese and their two goslings. Our little Zippy got all excited to see the deer wandering around. Found wonderful BBQ just up the street and yummy chicken and dumplings just down the street. As always we had a quiet, relaxing stay.

If you want to get in the hot tub on your first night make sure to check the temperature when you get there :D

Perfect mountain cabin for family and pups

Camp Festivus is nicely located about a mile away from the main highway on a creek. It’s got so much original character but is cozy and warm. The new appliances and upgraded heaters since our last stay a few years ago are fantastic additions. It’s about a 20 minute drive up the mountain to Government Camp and Summit/SkiBowl ski areas when the highway has snow. Pups are welcome but you do need to keep them off the furniture and beds or use the provided dog sheets and towels. Looking forward to another stay in the future.

Great cabin right on a creek

My husband and I have been to Festivus a few times before and it has always been wonderful! This time we were there during a heat wave and even though the place doesn't have AC we were just fine. There are plenty of box fans and the house is totally in shade. The creek is so lovely and there are plenty of lakes nearby to keep us cool during the day. Jeff replied promptly when we needed him and even dropped off a charger we had left

Charming, peaceful, beautiful and perfect for relaxing

This place is amazing! Gorgeous historical cabin in a very convenient place to explore the Mt Hood area. The property is so gorgeous and the creek was beautiful. We loved the deck and hearing the creek at night when you are sleeping is so relaxing, I got the best sleep! The grill was so nice we cooked so much good food and had the best time just playing in the creek and catching minnows. The kids played badminton and played in the creek then we warmed up in the hot tub. I cant say enough about how great this place is. The bathrooms are all remodeled nicely with even a bidet! So fancy and unexpected. We cant wait to go back!

That perfect cabin in the woods

We booked in July for a snowy mountain adventure but missed the storm by a week. Camp Festivus was still amazing and we truly enjoyed everything about it. The space is large and welcoming, we had plenty of firewood and the new induction stove was a great surprise! We were just a small group, but this place would be amazing foe a large family get together. The rooms are well sized with lots of bedding options and the common space is very inviting. The wood and history of a Steiner cabin, the huge and perfectly jetted hot tub, the creek and woods are perfect. Go boom this place!

We always love coming here. It is so quiet and peaceful. Best place in the whole world to relax and unwind. We picked up some BBQ in Sandy at Sandbar BBQ. Stopped by the Thriftway in Welches for a Mt. Hood Pie Company pie and sat on the back porch eating and enjoying the scenery. No reason to leave. Just sit and relax. The blue jays were nice company during our meals. Zippy, as always, had a great time. Especially playing on the log crossing the river. It was his first time getting to the other side. There was so much more to see over there.

Positive is backyard stream. Negative: We pulled into the driveway and turned around, positive we had the wrong place. Entrance is not the picture VRBO shows. Iron in the water is not mentioned. The VRBO picture of the hot tub as brand new. I refused to use it due to stains and not clean. BBQ was not cleaned so we did not use it. Toilets and tub all stained. Be sure to read up on how to use an Induction stove. Only 3% of the US population have an induction stove, yet this rental does. We had to call Jeffrey. He did not answer so I sent him an email stating please call. We can not cook our dinner. Need to download and print instructions and have them easily accessable. All this put a real damper on our stay. The only saving grace was the stream in the back yard.

Quiet, relaxing place on the river

My husband and a couple friends stayed for the weekend. It’s close enough to Mount Hood and yet feels secluded. Right on the river for a perfect view. Plenty of room for a couple families with kids. The mud room was great as it was pouring when we arrived. The covered back deck was perfect for morning coffee and evening relaxation. The bathroom floors are heated and the master bath is amazing!Highly recommended!

Family matters

Room/bed choices, games and anything a family would need were available. Only thing I didnt find was a handmixer and extra wash clothes, hut having a laundry room made some of that easier. Only thing I was iffy about was the color of the water and hot tub color. The cabin is absolutely beautiful and loved the fireplace. Pictures dont do this location justice. I plan to stay here again and bring more family.

Fantastic Christmas!

Myself and my family stayed for three nights over Christmas. What a cool and unique place. It feels like a true rustic mountain cabin, but it’s been fully remodeled to be comfortable and functional. Being right on the river was a big bonus. Listening to it was so peaceful. We spent all 3 days cozy around the fire place. Highly recommend for a peaceful stay on mt hood. boun

Quiet and cozy

It was a rainy stay so we all spent our time cuddled up by the fire watching movies and drinking hot chocolate. We really enjoyed feeding the cute little chipmonks. This was our first time seeing them. They were so much fun. Zippy parked himself by the window watching their antics. Donuts from Joe's in Sandy made the fireside time even extra special.

Summer get away

This is one of favorite spots to get away too. From swinging in the hammock to listening to the creek. This place has everything including a hot tub and with the new renovation the fanciest toilet seats I've ever sat on. The cabin sits perfectly between the neighbors so you aren't on top of anyone. Very very quiet neighborhood.

Rustic and cozy

Everything was provided to enjoy your stay. Party of 5 and plenty of room. The only drawbacks were a very firm mattress in the master bedroom, and the small refrigerator. If you want to experience a slice of Mt Hood history stay here!

Over the past several years, we have shared this retreat with a family that raised their now adult children coming up to Camp Festivus with their dogs. We have continued the long tradition with our two boys and our pup, and we continue to try to make our cabin a place for everyone to enjoy. We felt so lucky to have come across a property with such an amazing location as well as a great history, and we cherish the artistic stamp that our friends placed on it through its restoration. It always feels like home.

Why they chose this property

Living in Portland we wanted a place that would be easy for our family to use (don't enjoy long car rides), and we wanted a place that we would all enjoy. The year round access to the outdoors around Mt. Hood has to offer is unbelievable. Our cabin is so close to everything (hiking, biking, skiing, restaurants, coffee, etc. But it is still so private and secluded; it's the best of both worlds.

What makes this property unique

Right on Clear Creek, old growth trees, wildflowers, options to eat indoors or outdoors at the custom built picnic table on the deck overlooking the water. Two flat screen TV's, Blu-ray, and 6 person hot tub. Fire pit. Hammock. The gentle sound of the water always present. A place for everyone.
