Haystack Close North

Situated just north of Haystack Rock, Haystack Close North sits high above the beach, giving you spectacular panoramic vistas to the west, the north, and the south.

This classic, quirky, 1940's duplex contains 3 bedrooms, 2 full bathrooms, and can comfortably accommodate up to 8 people. You will be awed by gorgeous ocean views from just about anywhere in the house. The backyard is grass with the best view in town. A private staircase (shared with the adjacent Haystack Close South) will take you directly to the soft sand of Cannon Beach.

Haystack Close North's covered back porch, which is shared with Haystack Close South, contains a gas BBQ – your delicious meals can be accompanied by the rumbling of ocean waves and the stunning scene of iconic Haystack Rock.

On the first floor, you will find a spacious living room with a large, flat-screen TV, and gas fireplace to warm you up after hours of beach fun. The dining area and kitchen are located just off the living room. Please note that though the kitchen is a bit outdated it will meet most of your needs. A downstairs bath with shower is convenient for all.

Upstairs, you will find all three of Haystack Close North's bedrooms. The master bedroom has a king bed, while the second bedroom has a queen; both share magnificent ocean views. The third room contains two queen beds to ensure that everyone has a comfy place to rest. All three bedrooms share easy access to the full, upstairs bathroom which features a claw foot tub — the perfect place to soak after a day at the beach.

While the house is a little funky and parts of it are a bit outdated, it still provides plenty of space and comfort for a large family. You can even rent out the adjoining Haystack Close South and sleep up to 14 people.

Situated right on the beach and only a short stroll to Cannon Beach's vibrant midtown, Haystack Close North is the ideal spot for an unforgettable Cannon Beach vacation.

We didn't meet the host. The only appliances we used were the refrigerator/freezer, dishwasher, washer/dryer. All those appliances used were in good operating order.

You can't beat the location. The house is a little tight if you have a large group, but it's worth it for the views from the back porch and the proximity to the Haystack. Great spot for a getaway to relax!

Great location, fun town

We had a great stay, perfect views of haystack and the beach. The furnishings in the house were a little dated but that is not what we were there for..BBQs on the back deck, cribbage, long beach walks and great family time. Highly recommend staying at this house.

Great place at a wonderful location

We had a great time during our stay. We loved the views and the location. The place had all the necessary amenities and we were well informed on the check in process and of the power cuts which helped us plan well. Highly recommend!

Spectacular views & ocean sounds

Location could not be better. Sounds of the surf made for good sleeping.Yes, the home is dated but everything is clean and in good repair. It is well equipped for cooking and they even give you a bag of coffee!There is currently lots of construction right across the street and many trucks.Caveat: there are many stairs!

Elk city!

Fun weekend with friends. Woke up to elk bedded down on the beach. House has amazing views and everything you’d need. Yet a bit quirky with one shower and downstairs toilet so close to the washer/dryer you can’t sit straight on it.? Good stay overall.

Beach Getaway

Perfect location in Cannon Beach. Step outside for Haystack Rock at low tide, walk to downtown area. Check-in/out was easy and complimentary gift was a nice touch. 1 shower and 1 tub, large parties beware.

Funky house with perfect location

House worked for our family and the location couldn’t be beat. However it hasn’t been updated probably since it was built. Owners should give some thought to that for returning folks. Duplex and our neighbor owners were great. Walking distance to a lot.

Quirky is a kind description

We were lucky to stay here-we had last minute room juggling and thankfully this house was available. The view/location is stunning. The home is in poor repair though. It’s furnished with beat up, old, used furniture. One of the bedrooms had an active leak in the ceiling-maintenance was overall was lacking.

Spring break 2025

We chose this location to be our final stop while visiting colleges on spring break. There were a few things that people should be aware of. I over looked the fact that it is a shared dwelling and i felt as though the rate was a bit steep not being exclusive. Second the home is in a stunning location but in need of someUpdating, the wind blows through the windows, we only found one outlet that could be used to power a laptop and the stairs were so steep you didn’t dare have a couple glasses of wine and try to come down too quickly. Third, there was an attached screen porch with a paper thin door as main access the home, not leaving much for a sense of security.

Justin, thank you for staying with us. I will pass along your concern for the windows and the outlets to see what we can do! We try to be as transparent as possible in our description that this is a duplex and has another unit on the south side, which our guests share beach access with, and the big back deck with. We also try to mention that this is an older-style home. The owners update things, but try not to take away the older charm of this beach house. A lot of our guests who return to this home love the older beach house feel that this home provides. I also want to mention that both the sun room and front door have working locks, and we have had no issues with security at any of our homes. We are happy you were still able to have an amazing time here in Cannon Beach. We hope College hunting went well!

Run down property

Words used to describe property in online description: "classic, quirky, 1940s, a bit outdated, a little funky and parts of it are a bit outdated" It's basically an old, old house divided into a duplex with no updates since the 1940s with the exception of the fireplace converion to gas. Even the living room sofas appear to be a couple of decades old and have multiple stains. The photos online do not have the same furniture as that which is actually in the house. It was probably staged for the listing. It's hard to put into words how decrepit it is. I wonder if the owners of the property have actually checked out the property? For the cost it was definitely not worth it. Views of the ocean can't compensate for the shortcomings of the house. We would definitely not stay there again.
