Stillwell Point offers guests a sky high, heart stopping view of Little River's rocky coastal cliffs, islands, and sea arches. This unique glass and stone hideaway sits perched on the very edge of a steep sheer drop . . . hundreds of feet above Buckhorn Cove. This is the soaring domain of the osprey and the hawk . . . in which you can share.
Even indoors, you are surrounded by sky, sea, and sunshine . . . thanks to Stillwell Point's wraparound view windows and sliding glass doors which lead to a pair of patios on the cliff's edge.
If the weather turns wet or chilly . . . and, you literally find Stillwell Point wrapped in the midst of clouds . . . there's a huge stone fireplace just waiting to keep you warm and dry, a million miles away from the worries of your everyday world.
Our home was built into the hidden hillside, incorporating natural materials that were washed up on shore such as huge wood pilings, driftwood, shells, starfish, local river stones, old glass buoys, and ancient ship anchors which add to the charm. Native plants and wild flowers blanket the cliff which overlooks the sea below.
My in-laws designed and built the home in the 1960s. My husband's family has lived in Mendocino and Little River since the early 1800s. They were avid sailors and also loved Hawaii and had a home there as well. The Hawaiian details are from that influence. My brother in law was a woodworker and built most of the wood furniture in the home. The satellite maps in the map bedroom came from NASA. We have never updated the home to preserve the original design and realize that the home has a lot of quirks. Sliding doors, windows, floor heaters, refrigerator and dishwasher have all been replaced recently. Keywords: Private Hideaway

The location of this property can't be beat. It's nicely secluded with beautiful views. The house has a lot of character and has been lovingly built. We especially appreciated the closet full of books and puzzles. The location is also extremely convenient. I highly recommend this property.
Great property with fantastic views! House style and woodwork were beautiful. Very private, perfect for a peaceful getaway. That said, just a short drive to Mendocino.
Words, pictures and videos can not possible do this property justice. It was tough exploring the region when the property blew away anything else we saw or experienced. As an added bonus, the house was perfect and the check-in/out was effortless...
It was the third time I've stayed at Stillwater. This place heals and nourishes the soul. Gorgeous views, very clean, complete privacy. It has it all! Thank you Ina!
Excellent rustic house with great accommodations and even better coastal setting with amazing views. Location is close to beaches, trails, Mendocino and Ft Bragg. The host was great and provided excellent instructions and direction. My family loved it and we would definitely recommend booking this property.
Fabulous stay at this property, and better than described, or what the pictures can relay. Host, Ina, is communicative and responsive. Truly inspirational views from all areas. We look forward to coming back to revisit.
There are no words to describe the magic and beauty of Stillwater. Ina is a fantastic host. The property is absolutely stunning. We love the old world feel and the originality of the house. So many fun memories now. This was my fourth stay and I will never get enough. Thank you Ina for another amazing stay and for sharing your magical property.
Vintage 1960's cabin with unbelievable location. The cabin is built into the rock on a bluff overlooking the rocky pacific coast. Worth every penny and we had a blast.

Very pleased your stay was so enjoyable. Thank you for your kind comments. You are always welcome.
This is one of the coolest places I've ever stayed. The view, the property and the house itself was so fun and comfortable. I loved the furnishings and the fact that they owners have kept it just the way it was meant to be. So clean and full of history and meaningful decorations. The owner was so kind, prompt and very easy to talk to. I will be coming back as many times as I can. Thank you!

Girls weekend!
Amazing views from all windows! We were lucky and had beautiful sunny days that enhanced the views. We even saw a few whales from the living room windows!
This is more of a rustic rental as described, but the location on the point is breathtaking. Appliances are older & not all burners on the stove worked, but 2 were enough for our purposes. Would be nice to have shower curtains instead of old hard plastic folding doors. Plenty of firewood for the nice large stone fireplace made for cozy evenings. Great get-away!

House needs updates
The location for the house is lovely; however, the amenities are very outdated. Most of the appliances do not work properly; the beds are very hard; and the shower looks like something created in the 1950s.

Our house is an original, rustic 1960's family home. We are sorry this guest did not read the listing details beforehand and was so disappointed. We have replaced the appliances with a brand new refrigerator and dishwasher.
We had a problem with the lock box. The box does not pull open like a lock but swings upwards. We were tired after a long day and traffic problems and that contributed. (This is the same lock box that we have used in our four previous times at the beautiful place.)

Sorry you had a problem. It is the same lock box that swings upward and appears to be working fine.
I don’t have words to describe this past 18 days!!!!
The setting of this house is the award winner for us and we have stayed in close to 70 VRBOs . Situated on a high point with a panoramic view of the mighty pacific. Every minute presents some delightful scenery right outside the door here. We enjoyed the birds most of all….then the resident deer and a visit one day from a covey or 15+ quail and upon or arrival a fox patrolled the property. The communication with the owner was exceptional….I am a worrywart, and pesty and she was so kind and engaged with me like that’s all she had to do with her time. We happened to have been there during a huge storm witnessed wave action like I have never seen. I have very respectfully shared with the owner they need better photos cause I was not prepared for the mind blowing scenery when we topped that hill! Stay here ….it is unbelievable. Thanks Ina….
The house was located in a beautiful place with a great view of the ocean and surrounding area.

It's all in the location
The word stunning is overused in our hyperbolic communications, but it is the only appropriate word for this place. Perched on a hill on top of sheer cliffs plunging into the sea, totally isolated from any other outside influence except the magnificent ocean below. The house itself is nice enough, although in need of some fixing up, the furniture is rather dated , etc, but that is so totally insignificant when compared to the incomparable views. We cna't wait to go back again.
This is a charming property if you enjoy old and unique (which we do). Lots of fun artifacts accent the walls. The views are without a doubt spectacular, situated high at the end of a private road with a180 degree outlook. It's very private and couldn't have been more enjoyable. We definitely would like to go back sometime.
