This cabin is so cozy and wonderful! The outdoor space is incredible! We loved stargazing and just enjoying morning coffee among the aspens. Being pet friendly and so close to Breck are huge perks, and we will definitely be back!

This rental is everything a mountain cabin should be: cozy, peaceful, beautiful and family-friendly. We loved our stay with our two little kiddos! We saw moose every day, ventured on several nearby hikes, and enjoying the town of Breckenridge which is only 25 minutes away. I cannot recommend this property enough if you want to experience mountain beauty in a very peaceful setting.

We absolutely loved our stay here! The property is exactly as described on their website — it truly has everything listed and more. You get full privacy with 5 acres of space to enjoy, whether it’s playing games outside, relaxing, or just soaking in the beautiful Colorado scenery. It’s such a fun and peaceful place to unwind and make memories. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a getaway that feels private, comfortable, and full of things to do!

We had just the best time at the Snow Shack! I travel often with my dogs, and this was in my top cabins for sure - the fenced patio was perfect to enjoy nature with them, and we loved the hot tub and firepit outside. Alma is a great location to be close enough to the ski towns, but just far enough to avoid traffic, tourists, and really experience the raw beauty of the Colorado mountains. The Snow Shack was clean and had more than enough toiletries, towels, blankets, etc to make our stay cozy and comfortable. Relaxing in the hot tub after hiking all day was the best way to spend our little getaway, I never wanted to leave. I cannot say enough good things about this spot, we will absolutely be back!!

The Snow Shack didn't disappoint! We had an amazing stay and enjoyed exploring the property which was loaded with so many fun spots to sit and enjoy nature. It has lots of options for enjoying every season! We spent time soaking in the hot tub, sitting by the fire place and relaxing in the steam shower! Everything was clean and well maintained. We had everything we needed right down to pool towels, snow shoes, and a never-ending supply of firewood. This quaint little cabin had everything we needed to cook meals, play games, and unwind. Our host was very attentive and helpful with recommendations for restaurants, hikes, and other local activity options. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!

This is our ultimate happy place. It’s just paradise. The grounds are like being in your own national park. There is so much to do - outdoor games, myriad spots to sit and chill, and the location cannot be beat. The inside is as cozy and clean as can be with modern touches here and there, but nothing cookie cutter. It’s well stocked with anything you’d need and also the beds are very comfy. We live in Boulder and as Coloradans that have stayed in a ton of places for family vacations, this one is far and wide the best!!!! Cannot wait to to back.
Chillin’ at the new super high quality wood outdoor bar.
Wandering the grounds, heading to the Adirondack chairs overlooking the pond.
Morning coffee with a view. I saw a female moose meandering around. Magestic!
On our daily walk - such cool classic Colorado scenery in the neighborhood.

Anthony is a phenomenal host! He left absolutely no stone unturned when it came to booking, planning, and ensuring we enjoyed our stay at the snow shack. The cabin is exactly as pictured and so much more—cozy, clean, private, and well-appointed. Chances are, if the snow shack doesn't have it, you likely won't need it to enjoy your stay. The outdoor space is expansive, magical, and thoughtfully planned. If you're looking for a tranquil space, a place to crash while skiing, a couple's, girls', guys', or family getaway, or if you're simply an explorer at heart, this is your destination! The snow shack is 100% a repeat booking, and we look forward to returning soon!

Adventure and tranquility

Highly recommend this cozy cabin! Anthony was easy to communicate with and was a great resource for all the fun adventures that Alma has to offer. We enjoyed skinning with our dog up to Windy Ridge and had a fun adventure near Lincoln Falls as well. Less than 30 minutes to Breckinridge was ideal for skiing at Breck resort too. We always looked forward to arriving back at the cabin after an adventure for apres ski, hot tub, and time spent reading, playing cards, and telling stories in front of the crackling fire. Hands down one of our favorite spots!

Our family of 5 had an amazing and very comfortable time at the snow shack this summer! It’s close enough to Breckenridge (less than 30min) so we had some fun days there, it’s a beautiful drive too. But then there is so much to do at the snow shack itself. It’s a large property with forest trails between the pond, over the creeks and up to the tire swing at the top of the hill. We were lucky enough to see moose (several times) and a bear on the property, so you know it’s a little off the beaten track which is exactly what we were looking for.Our young kids spent hours in the large hot tub every day, and the shack itself is not really a shack! More than enough room for the 5 of us, authentically decorated, beds are very comfortable and the steam room / shower upstairs is a nice touch.Host Anthony was also very easy to work with.We will definitely be back!

Cozy Mountain Retreat

If you're looking for a tranquil and unique escape, the Snow Shack is it! The "cozy cabin" description doesn't do it justice – it's a haven of comfort, and the beds ensured a truly restful sleep. We loved the meteor showers from the hot tub and proximity(and remoteness ha!) from Breck. The wood-burning fireplace was a highlight, providing both warmth and a wonderful focal point for cozy evenings. The steam shower was an unexpected luxury and perfect for unwinding. We were charmed by the thoughtful touches throughout the property; discovering the tree swing, the cleverly designed snowboard bench, and the hammock beside the gently flowing stream added so much joy to our stay. The vintage vibe of the cabin contributed to the peaceful atmosphere, and the complete silence at night made the extraordinary display of stars even more spectacular. We wholeheartedly recommend the Snow Shack and can't wait for our next visit!

We didn’t buy and change this property for a rental business, we made it the way we enjoyed the mountains of the past. It’s a love letter to the Colorado we knew as kids: wild, quiet, and completely unhurried. Before the roller coasters and bungee jumps and condos and boutique chain shops moved in, the Rockies had a way of making you feel genuinely small and genuinely free. We share this cabin because that feeling shouldn’t disappear. Come wander five acres of aspen and pine, sleep under an impossible sky, and leave the noise behind, even if just for a weekend

Why they chose this property

Remote and peaceful with whispering aspen leaves, wildflowers and a mountain stream

What makes this property unique

1. Your own private mountain stream with bridges = most cabins are “near” water; this one has it running through the property with actual crossings to explore.
2. Views of two named 14ers and a 13er from the deck = Mt. Bross and Mt Quandary and Mt. Silverheels are iconic peaks, and calling them out by name builds credibility and excitement.
3. Free ski shuttle less than a mile away — the Summit Express to Breck, Keystone, and Frisco is a rare convenience at this price point and seclusion level.
4. 5 fully explorable acres = not just a yard or courtyard of concrete, but a genuine private landscape of aspen and pine to hike, snowshoe, and wander.
5. Steam shower plus hot tub=most rentals offer one or the other or neither; having both is a legitimate luxury differentiator.
6. Wildlife as a feature, not a warning = moose, bear, and deer on the property is extraordinary to most guests and provides the “real Colorado” experience.
7. Gear already included = sleds, snowshoes, bikes, fishing gear, and disc golf mean guests can be spontaneous without hauling equipment.
8. Wood-burning fireplace = increasingly rare in rentals due to regulations; it’s authentic and atmospheric in a way gas simply isn’t.
9. Outdoor games and hangout features = hummingbirds, ski chair and bench, tire swing, hammock, cornhole, and horseshoes create a resort-like outdoor social experience.
10. 16 miles to Breckenridge with true seclusion each morning and night to escape the chaos of tourists and traffic and paid parking….the combination of proximity to a world-class ski town and genuine remoteness is the hardest balance to find in Colorado mountain rentals.
