My stay here with family was wonderful! We very much enjoyed our New Year stay and loved the warmth and feel of the home, with its Christmas Decorations for the holiday season. The home was very comfortable, very clean and had all that we needed for our 4-night stay. Pots, pans, seasonings, games and more! I also will include that the host is great with communication and very responsive. This was our first time visiting the Bryson City area and I would definitely enjoy another trip/stay here!

What a wonderful mountain getaway! We came up for 4 nights Christmas week for family celebrations and the polar express. Right away at booking, Nivea was attentive in noting we were bringing children and asked if we needed any baby items. It was a great help to see a pack and play all set up, a portable high chair and even a baby bath all ready to use! Upon entry we were whisked away to a mountain lodge Christmas with the beautifully decorated tree and mantel greeting us as we stepped through the door. The home is gorgeous and our kids loved the game room set up in the garage. The home was plenty big for our large family. We enjoyed exploring the town and tranquil sunsets and sunrises with the majestic mountains surrounding us. Every one of us loved our stay and hopes to return soon!

Great spring trip to the Smokies

This property was just what we needed as two families on a spring break trip for children. This location was about 30 minutes from the NC entrance to the Smoky Mountains. The game room was great for rainy day entertainment. There were just the right amount of space for our party of 10 people total (4 adults and 6 kids). Nivea was great at communication and very helpful. Thanks for a great trip!

My husband and I were looking for a home that was close to the Polar Express. We’re so glad we chose The Bear Necessities. The beds were comfy, the house was clean and well equipped. Our grandchildren loved the bunk room and we all enjoyed the game room. The yard gave us some privacy and we were close to town. Would definitely stay again :)

Great Secluded Place with game room.

House as advertised! Owner was awesome and helpful. House is modern and clean. Just 4 friends that went and we hung out in the game room every night. Only negatives are the curvy narrow roads and no tvs in the bedrooms.

Our family lives in Florida and we love the outdoors. We visited Bryson City for the first time in 2016 and fell in love. It is such a contrast to Florida and there are so many things to do with endless hiking trail options, mountain biking, zip lining, white water rafting, fishing, boating (I could go on and on). We love visiting our home in Bryson City and completely unplugging from the world. Leaving all problems at the door and just enjoying the serenity that nature brings. We wanted to share that with other families while we're not using the home. We love recommending our favorite experiences and reading the guest book each time we visit. Being able to curate a vacation of peace and adventure for families and friends is so much fun.

We selected this neighborhood because of its convenient location and the privacy it provides. It's near all the places we enjoy, like downtown Bryson City, the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, and the Nantahala Outdoor Center. Our property gives us space to relax while enjoying our privacy.

What makes this property unique

We converted our detached garage to a game room and love hanging out there. Our family uno nights are intense on the poker table and I'm always looking to beat the PacMan high score.

The Smoky Mountains views from the porch and balcony are gorgeous. I love sitting outside on the rocking chairs and take in the views while reading a good book.
