Groovy, comfortable and quiet 1970's retro lake home. If you like Mid Century/70's vibes this is the cabin for you! Includes shag carpet, swag lights, yellow themed kitchen, knotty pine paneling, and rattan/wicker. If you long to experience that part of the past look no further! Being the 3rd generation owners we are so proud to keep my grandparent's original design aesthetic in mind as we continue to make upgrades and improvements. We warmly welcome you to experience our family lake home! The space Clearwater Lake is home to 76 private residences of which only 12 are year-round residences, the rest of the lakeshore (approx 1/4) is undeveloped and owned by a youth camp, this lends itself to being a very quiet and "private like" lake. The lake itself is great for anglers (fishing guidebook available onsite) and is approx 900 acres.
The entire home is approx 2200 sq/ft. There are 2 equal sized bedrooms on the main floor, one with a queen bed and the other with a full bed. The main floor is also home to the kitchen, dining room w/ a table to accommodate 10 guests, Living room w/ wood burning fireplace*, deck overlooking the lake and the "tree house" porch. The lower walkout level has lake views from the family room and 1 large bedroom with a queen bed. Main floor and lower levels both have 3/4 baths (toilet, shower, sink). Loft level (VRBO Does not have a loft category) has 6 twin beds. Double wrought iron spiral staircase connects all levels. There is a large lakeside deck the leads to staircase access to the lakefront. Full onsite laundry room is available. Large 3 season screened "tree house" porch that seats approx 10-12 people off kitchen and overlooks lake and forest.
Turnaround driveway with ample parking for 6-7 cars*. Our dock can accommodate a boat up to 24+ feet if needed. Forest side of home has large firepit* and our lake side has a small lakeshore firepit* with a couple chairs to enjoy the view.
*Firewood for fireplace and firepits to be supplied by guests *In winter parking may be more limited due to plowing
The lakeshore is partially wooded with large openings for the dock and stairs leading into the water. It is slightly rocky on the lakeshore on our property, I grew up swimming barefoot with no issues but if you are sensitive to smaller rocks and occasional seaweed underfoot we recommend water shoes. Guest access Access the entire 3 bedroom lake home with loft - plus one of the clearest & cleanest lakes in Minnesota, our two fire pits and plenty of wooded land and walking and biking opportunities on the Cuyuna trails.

It was our second year at cabin. The cabin is the the best, grandkids and I love it there. Clearwater lake is awesome, kids fish most of the day and tube the rest! Clean and accommodates are great!!
The house was great, it was better than we expected. The house was clean, plenty of things to do on the lake, and well stocked with any supplies you need. The retro games and DVDs were awesome too.
The house has a wonderful shady screen porch, a deck with excellent views of the lake, a comfortable living room with fireplace, and a basement with a large TV. The kitchen is really well outfitted; better than any other rental we've stayed at. Loons galore; good fishing; lake breezes. The owner was quick to respond and always pleasantly useful. Nice bedrooms; comfortable beds. A big loft with lots of beds. Can't recommend it highly enough. We'll go back as soon as we can.
Our stay at the Retro Retreat was excellent. Check-in was a breeze. Zach was very responsive and great to work with. The kitchen was large and had every pan, knife, appliance, and circa 70s coffee mug a large group would need. Having the living room, the screened-in porch, and the comfy TV lounge was bonus space for our group and we used them all - especially the screened-in porch. The overall 70s decor lived up to its description and was a lot of fun. Beds were great and the good curtains kept the loft sleepers from waking up at dawn. Parking was ample and easy. The full-sized laundry room was appreciated for wet towels. Having the firepit was a delight. Clearwater Lake is gorgeous and quiet with the bonus of being a nesting spot for loons - watching and listening to the loons quickly became a favorite passtime. It was very hard to leave. Thanks Zach.
We enjoyed the decor. The retro theme brought back a lot of memories of our upbringing. I was most impressed with the layout of the house. The house itself is set up on a hill and the large windows in every room facing the lake made for amazing scenery. Because the house is in vintage state, the plumbing was a bit loud but this adds to the experience.
There is a lot of steps down to the lake and a few need some minor repairs. Clearwater Lake was very quiet during our stay and the fishing was great.
We did a lot of mountain biking and Crosby might be one of the best biking communities in the state. A real plus.
Thank you Zach and Bridget for making this available.
