Less than 2 miles from Wolf Ridge ski lodge! All the whimsy and excitement of a mountain treehouse with the comfort of a modern home. This “roundette” is perched nearly a mile above sea level, surrounded by towering spruce and fir trees, in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Though it’s a quick 40 minute drive to the vibrant Asheville downtown, it truly feels like a private wilderness oasis.
4WD/AWD is recommended during winter months. Read more below.
The architecture of this house is truly unique, with curved walls and high, vaulted ceilings. Walls of windows welcome in lots of natural light, and envelop you in the natural beauty of the trees and mountains. The open floor plan includes a bright and clean full kitchen, a living space with smart television and fireplace, two bedrooms, one full bath, and one half bath. Outside, the wraparound porch is the ideal place for a morning coffee or evening beverage, and has a gas grill for cooking if you choose to do so. The home features a washer and dryer as well as an air-conditioning and heating system for year round comfort. Access to this unique home is via a set of stairs that lead to the front porch and door, which should be considered for those presenting with physical limitations. A security camera is set up to monitor the driveway to the entrance.
The cabin resides within the 5,000 acres of land that comprise Wolf Laurel Resort. As part of your stay, you will also receive access to the Village Club. Benefits include a heated seasonal outdoor pool, tennis courts, pickleball courts, trout pond, children’s playground, yoga classes and more.
Miles of trails surround the home, with private access to the Appalachian Trail and Big Bald, which is the highest local summit at 5,516 feet, and where you’ll experience arguably the best 360° views around. The area is also rich with additional outdoor activities including skiing, swimming, horseback riding, zip lining, and rafting.
You will enjoy access to the entire home during your stay. For your convenience, the house is set up for contactless self check-in with keyless entry. A unique code will be generated for the length of your stay that will unlock the main door. Entry point to Wolf Laurel Resort is gated with a staffed attendant. Booked guests will check in with the attendant for access.
The primary roads in Wolf Laurel are paved, but the secondary roads are gravel. All roads are well maintained by the full time staff but remember these are mountain roads and mountain driving conditions. You will will need to take your time and navigate slowly. Most cars of all sizes can easily drive the roads in the no-winter months, but sports cars that have especially low clearance are not recommended. Also, motorcycles are not allowed in the community so please plan accordingly.
Winter: We are thrilled to welcome guest year round but please be advised: 4WD/AWD is highly recommended during winter months. If you are not comfortable with possible winter driving conditions, travel insurance my be worth looking into. There are winter days in Wolf Laurel when I am comfortable driving a Honda Civic around, and there are days when the only thing I would want to be driving is a plow truck. Most days fall somewhere in-between.
In my opinion, winter in the mountains is best when not rushed so I recommend planning to arrive with plenty of food and supply's so that when the snow does start to fall you get to cozy up by the fireplace and enjoy your winter getaway!
Though the WIFI is strong, Wolf Laurel Resort has spotty cell service throughout the community. WIFI calling is available in the home and you may have regular cell service on the property but it is not guaranteed.

Our stay was Perfect! Everything was clean and exactly what we wanted. Great location. Fabulous hikes nearby. Hot tub and grill were amazing after long hikes. Nice kitchen for fixing meals. Fast communication. We would stay here again if in the area.
We enjoyed our 3-night stay in this charming cottage - a perfect way to celebrate our 70th birthdays. From the woodburning fireplace and panoramic views to the deer that visited every day, we had no complaints. We didn't have enough time to try the hot tub, but that gives us a reason to return. Kitchen was well-stocked, wood was supplied, very private, a gem for sure.
My husband and I had a great time at this adorable whimsical home. The home was in excellent condition and very comfortable, the amenities were top-notch. The atmosphere was cozy and inviting. I would highly recommend 776 Fox Den to anyone looking for a great vacation experience .
This place was perfect for my family and I to get out of our routine and enjoy the views. It was special for our girls birthday! They loved the jacuzzi and the endless deer roaming the woods while my wife and I spent most nights on the deck or in front of the fireplace. It is in a gated area which added some more peace of mind. We will definitely return when the ski resort is active. Thank you again for a great accommodation
The house was just as described and made us feel at home! The host was extremely responsive and provided a lot of detail ahead of our stay. I do wish the hot water didn't run out so quickly, but otherwise no complaints!

For the price it’s ok compared with some other listings in the same area.
We loved our stay at the mountain roundhouse. The house was exactly as described and the setting was beautiful. When we weren't able to be outside due to rain, we really enjoyed having a fire in the fireplace while playing some pretty competitive games of Yahtzee ;-).
What a perfect location ! Private in the trees, lots of deer and the pool is about 1.5 mile drive away. We went to Ashville one day and the Pisgah Forest ! So beautiful. We were able to hike Bike Bald from the private entry onto the Appalachian as well.
Me and my now wife stayed there for a few nights during our wedding weekend. Super convenient to both the village club and golf club as well as wolf provisions. Property was very clean and spacious enough for the 2 of us. Driveway could be difficult for some larger vechile or newbie mountain drivers. Overall great time!
The house was just as described. If you're looking for a relaxing place to stay between hikes, this house is the perfect choice. We brought all our own food to cook which was a big help, but we were able to pick up basic needs at the general store a few minutes down the mountain. This location is perfect for turning off all the drama of the world and just reconnecting with nature.
Tranquility. Remote. Modern, simple, comfortable.
Had a long relaxing weekend with family and friends in Mars. The beds were super comfortable. Bathrooms upgrades absolutely beautiful. Visited downtown and ate at The Stackhouse. If you go-the pimento cheese is a must.
Always wanted to stay in a round house? Now is your chance! Comfy and cozy best describes our stay. Beautiful furnishings and seems spacious for a small place. Very clean and everything you need to have a great stay. The large deck is feature you will want to enjoy. The host is great in communicating and deserves the Superhost title. Definitely will stay again.
Great place to stay, but needs a set of instructions on how to use TV and the AC unit, also gas grill was very dirty and twice we saw a mouse in the kitchen. A couple of elevated triangular deck boards near the hot tub were a tripping hazard. Over half of the outside party light bulbs were inoperable. All of these were minor issues and overall our stay was most enjoyable.
