About this property
Come Relax at Mountain Springs Cabin
We have had a couple inquiries lately mentioning an ad on Craigslist. We don’t do business through any company other than VRBO. Please don’t book through any site other than this one.
Our large 6 acre retreat is private, yet has convenient access to I-5 and the nearby tulip fields in Mount Vernon, Washington. Three acres are dedicated to the cabin, pond and surrounding grounds, with our house on the upper three acres. A perfect getaway for small families or a romantic weekend. Most of our guests come back annually and have made staying at our cabin a family tradition for birthdays, anniversaries or other special occasions.
Out of respect for our neighbors, we do not offer the cabin as a venue for parties and we stick to our limit of four people. (small groups of short term visitors are fine) Although some of our guests take advantage of our convenient location to all that Skagit Valley has to offer, many come to the cabin and don't leave until their checkout time!
The grounds are well landscaped and include a turquoise half-acre pond. The pond is strictly available for our VRBO guests; we only use it on those rare days when the cabin is not booked. We have horseshoes and corn hole for an evening of fun, or sit by the fire pit. You can enjoy a refreshing swim on a warm summer day or fishing when the temperatures cool down. We lose fish in the warmer summer months, so we ask our guests NOT to FISH in June, July, and August. If catching a lot of fish is important to you, we suggest you book elsewhere. We never know how many fish are in the pond due to predators, poor fishing techniques, and hot weather. We have purchased a stand up paddle board for guests to use during the warmer months. Finish the day with a relaxing soak in the hot tub.
The home is fully furnished for all of your in home needs and is comfortable for up to four guests. The cabin has a Queen bed and double futon in the upstairs spacious master bedroom as well as a queen sized sofa bed in the living room. The set up is good for one couple or small families, but not ideal for two couples.
The only thing you will need to bring is your clothes, a swimsuit, and a steak for the BBQ. We have satellite TV, DVD and wireless internet. (Note: there is no landline phone available.) The kitchen is fully stocked with all appliances, including a griddle, coffee maker, coffee beans and grinder, rice cooker, microwave, electric hot pot, slow cooker, and many spices. As far as personal items, we provide a hair dryer, shampoo, body wash and cream rinse, so you don't even need to pack those. A full sized washer and dryer are available at the cabin for your convenience as well. Firewood for the fire pit is also provided.
Please check our calendar for availability so you won't be disappointed! Our weekends book way in advance, so if you want to book for a week long stay, you need to get in your request early. Winter weekdays are often open and can be booked last minute. To get an accurate quote, click 'instant quote' to enter the dates, number of guests, and whether or not you have a pet. You can email us if you have questions or use the "instant booking" option if you're ready to secure your dates.

The cabin was such a treat. We loved sitting on the deck with a glass of wine and gazing at the pond. The hot tub was great for pond gazing also. John and Mary have thought of everything to make the cabin a special place. Highly recommend.
This property is fantastic!! Beautiful, clean and the views are perfect. We had a very rainy and windy day where we just stayed in for much of the day and we enjoyed being inside just as much. Snuggled up and read. Well maintained and enjoyable.
Like something out of a dream! This little cabin was cute, clean and cozy. It was exactly as described. Well equipped with everything that we needed. Fit our needs perfectly for a mother daughter getaway to see the tulips. We would love to come back. 10/10 recommend to anyone looking for a place to stay in the Mount Vernon area.
Everything about the cabin was PERFECT!!! So many thoughtful things. Bedside fans, great cookware and utensils, and an AMAZING lake!!! We saw two deer and there was resident pair of ducks.
This place is magical! Time seemed to slow down. We used the hot tub so many times in our two nights. We stayed here a few years ago, and after another incredible experience, we plan on coming back.
This was our second stay, and it was just as amazing as the first, and we definitely hope to return again someday. The hosts were very welcoming, responsive, and both times we have stayed left a little gift for us when we arrived. The cabin was very clean, cozy, and beautiful, and we had everything we needed for our stay. We love this spot!
This was our first VRBO experience and we had an amazing time. The hosts were courteous and answered all our questions in a timely manner. Great experience, cabin was clean instructions were super clear. Hot tub was clean and nice especially during the cold nights. Loved watching the wild-life from the view of the cabin.
The place was beautiful, it was a relaxing trip! Caught 2 fish right off the deck before we left! And the hot tub was amazing. The whole property is breath taking. My dog was loving how much she could run! Thank you for such an amazing stay!
Beautiful cabin on absolutely gorgeous property. It is just as dreamy as it looks in the listing. It was very clean and cozy and the kitchen was well stocked. It was a perfect little getaway for me and my husband.

About the host
Hosted by John or Mary Davis
John and Mary have retired from 30+ years of teaching in Cordova, Alaska. We ran one of the first B&B's there, the Oystercatcher Bed and Breakfast. John grew up in Skagit Valley and was excited when his niece decided to sell this property. We have many relatives within a one mile radius, so we are surrounded by good people in this very special neighborhood.
Why they chose this property
Buying this vacation rental was the perfect transition for us in our 'retirement.' We love the beauty and accessibility this property offers us and our guests. Not only do we think the property is special, VRBO selected a picture of our cabin for their international business card!
What makes this property unique
This property is very unique. You have your own private pond all to yourselves during your stay. We don't even use the pond when we have guests!
Summer or winter this area has so much to offer. The summer is filled with fun things to do including the San Juan Islands, tulip fields 20 minutes away, or Big Lake which is less than 5 minutes away. The North Cascade pass has many trails to hike and much much more. In the winter, visitors come from all over to see the eagles. There is steelhead fishing on the Skagit river or enjoy trout fishing in our private pond off the deck in the cooler months. Mt Baker ski area is just an hour and 15 minutes door to door or Stevens pass ski area is about an hour and 45 minutes.
