The host was great. Easy to contact and communication with. The cabin was private & comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked with kitchen equipment. Beds and linens were very comfortable. We canât attest to the hot tub because we didn't get a change to use it. The fireplace had a new set of gas logs that really warmed the cabin nicely. The cabin was close to the apple orchards and the zip lines. Less than 15 minute travel time for both excursions.
Beautiful view, great layout, and location. Lots to do nearby. Playing foosball downstairs with the family was fun. Nice house. The view and location are the highlights!
My husband and I celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary here and we couldnât have asked for a better getaway. The cabin is literally at the top of the mountain, outstanding views and the fall colors were amazing. Canât wait to come back!
I took some extended family on spring break to the Red Apple Cabin and it did not disappoint. The whole property was a huge hit with the kids, who loved the hot tub, the firepit, and the downstairs play area. I very much appreciated the split bedrooms allowing the adults some privacy.
Red Apple Cabin was perfectly positioned at the top of the mountain providing picturesque views that were visible from multiple rooms in the cabin. Perfectly fitted out, this cabin had everything on offer. We were fortunate to have decent snow while there paving the way for great sleigh adventures for the kids, topped off with a hot tub and a fire pit to enjoy the tranquility. Maria the host was very accommodating and very responsive she made sure our stay was as perfect as possible. The Red Apple Cabin experience was awesome, we will be back!
The cabin is in the middle of the woods. Very quiet and remote. There was everything you needed inside. Beds were comfortable, water pressure was excellent, and the air was good. No complaints.
The getting there was half the adventure....it was a mixture of paved and gravel/dirt roads. The dirt and gravel roads varied in ease of drivability. The first time you drive them you think you will never get to the cabin, but after the second day the ride became part of the relaxation. You couldn't speed, so you Had to take it easy. The cabin is lovely, and should meet the needs of most reasonable guests. All the rooms were nicely appointed (my favorite bedroom was upstairs... stained glass accents, and a porch to catch the amazing march of the moon across the sky). Our 11 year old grandson enjoyed putting his Papa in his place at the foozball table!.. We made great use of the decks.
We had a wonderful time at the cabin. The cabin was beautiful with amazing views of the mountain. Came to the area with our 2 adult children, our 17-year-old daughter, and our dog. From the start, the host and the communication were wonderful. We are from Florida and not used to hills our mountains but found driving up the mountain pretty easy. We loved the area and spent a lot of time at all the wineries, breweries, shops and parks in the area. The cabin was perfect to come back to after a long day of hiking or being on the water. We loved the quiet and peaceful view. We got a fire going every night and enjoyed the spacious cabin including a family foozball tournament and board games on a rainy night. All the amenities were there. Easy to use grill, plenty of pots and pans for cooking, and good cell service and Wifi as I work remotely, I was able to get work done easily. Perfect location. Check out Lake Blue Ridge in the summer, we rented a boat and had a blast. Thank you to our hosts for being wonderful

Misleading description
We really wanted to love this cabin, we drove 12 hours and when we arrived were immediately disappointed after entering through the door. The house was completely outdated inside; furnishings were old and abused. It is 25 mins from downtown not 15 as listed, for some this is ok but not what we wanted.First night we wanted to relax in the hot tub to only find it dirty and full of leaves. Some of the bed sheets were ripped. The game room is listed as having a bed to sleep, but the pump noise is so loud that you cannot sleep unless you are hard of hearing so not sure why that is even listed as an option. This could be a nice cabin to stay if they invested to upgrade the inside. The owner was helpful when the internet went down the next day, but we quickly saw true colors later on.After much discussion and the potential to having to move our dog, young son and senior mother we decided it would be best to cancel. We had a call with the owner and discussed canceling as it just didnât meet our expectations, she told us she didnât want us to have a bad time and agreed to letting us cancel with us paying the 2 nights along with cleaning and pet fee.I was very appreciative and thanked her only to see later she changed the listing price to double with the total matching all 5 nights we were supposed to stay! This cabin isnât worth the original fee a night let alone double. Please use caution when reviewing the listing.
For the most part, the red apple cabin was great. The view from ghe bedrooms were breathtaking sunrises right from the bed. All amenities made it feel like home. It was away from everything and everyone. 30 min to anything in town. A very peaceful getaway. The cabin stayed warm though the temps dropped to record lows. (12 degrees F). The biggest issue we had was the water was out for a portion of 3 out of the 7 days we were there. This was caused by the water companyâs well having issues due to the record cold. Apparently around 7 cabins on the mountain were out of water as well. My family and I are from the north originally, I am a retired Army Combat Engineer, so we were able to stay positive while shutting water valves off when the pipes burst in the wall in the basement and water was all over the floor. We were able to stay positive and still appreciate the warmth and roof over our head. The owners were very responsive, and polite, and got a plumber out right away. They werent able to restore water right away as we were at the mercy of the mountain water company and their ill prepared deep well. It is written in the contract that âacts of Godâ are not eligible for refunds. It was nice of the owners to refund 200$ out of an almost 4,000$ bill we paid for the week because we took good care of their place shutting off valves and drying things up with floor fans that the plumber brought⌠but I would never have spent that much money on a place where there would be a possibility we couldnt flush toilets or shower for 8 hours at a time and no showers or running water for holiday feast dishes. For any owners reading this, if you are going to charge top dollar for your rental, make sure you prepare it for worst case scenarios. A cabin on the top of a mountain anywhere on the planet should be able to function in cold weather. No trees fell, no power lines were down, no fires, no earth quakes, but I guess ârecord cold weatherâ is an act of God⌠then again, what isnt? Too much money out of my pocket to feel like im roughing it if you ask me. If the water stayed on the whole time or If I received a 30% refund this review would be 5 stars.

Hello Neils how you explain was an Historic weather event, that we had no control on weather situations and all the mountain cabins had the same issues. The good thing is that from that the water department and us make some improvements. Thank you for been an amazing guest and for let people know that witouth that issue we will got 5 starts review.
First, they should be VERY specific about the road going up to the cabin! It sits at the top of a mountain, and we had to try 3 times to get up with our Highlander! The first night we thought weâd go back out for dinner. That did NOT happen! Once your out you do not want to fight that rutted road again! 2nd, the night we arrived we thought ok, weâll, light a fire in the fireplace & eat some food we brought with! NO! The instructions show you turn on fireplace with a remote! There is NO remote! We called the owners, & they didnât have as clue where it was! She said she called the âcleaning ladyâ to see where she might have put it! At 8:00 pm on Saturday night the âcleaning ladyâ was in a bad accident and was at an emergency dental appointment! 𤏠We met the âcleaning lady on Tuesday, & she had NOT been in an accident of any kind!!! We NEVER heard back on the remote that evening! Owners were on vacation & really didnât want to be bothered! Third, we thought weâll watch a little TV. NOPE! Your golden if you have kids, but nothing for adults! Basic Dish package, without even so much as a local channel, or news channel! My husband was NOT happy as-he wanted to watch his favorite team play football on Sunday night! The answer was, sign into your own Netflix acccount and watch something on there! Meanwhile, there were instructions on how to start the fireplace without the remote. So we kept trying that, to no avail! We live in Florida, had just survived a direct hit from hurricane Ian, and one thing I looked for in a cabin was a working fireplace! Didnât care if it was gas or wood. We tried a number of times to explain this to the owners, & basically they did NOT care one bit! The husband finally offered us a free night. We could not take advantage of that, as we needed to be back on Monday! He then offered to take off a nights stay. We agreed! However, when we spoke to the wife about that she said, âoh no, that was contingent on the fireplace not workingâ! He NEVER put any kind off contingency on the refund! Basically, sheâs a liar! She told us that the âhandymanâ would be there on Monday, & that we did NOT have to be there. So we left with our therapy dog, and at 5:30 pm we texted Maria & told her we were on our way back, would be there by 6:00, and when we got there the âhandymanâ had been there, waited 15 minutes, & left! We were told she would give him the code. He arrived on Tuesday & did get the fireplace working.

THEY ARE LYING ABOUT EVERYTHING JUST BECAUSE THEY BROKE THE HOUSE RULES MORE THAN 1 TIME AND WE HAD TO CANCEL THEIR RESERVATION WITH VRBO APROVAL (even do we let them stay)
We own rental properties throughout the country and these were hands down the worst guests we have ever had. This Review is full of lies and mistruths. As everyone can see we have more than 134 reviews, most of which are 5 stars. Although we may deal with a difficult guest from time to time, these guests were over the top and were attempting to milk us for a free stay from the moment they checked in.
It is difficult to reply to a review that is only lies but here we go. The real reason for this terrible review is because we had to cancel this guestâs reservation, because they broke the house rules. We did this after talking with 2 Agents at VRBO and showing them proof of the rules that they were breaking so they allowed us to do the cancellation without any refunds.
These guests were trying to hide things from us prior to even checking in as they didnât inform us that they were bringing a dog even though it is clear in the listing description. We sent a reminder of this in the check in instructions email that says: âDOGS ARE ALLOWED WITH A $150.00 PET FEE PER DOG (MAXIMUM 2 DOGS) FOR THE LENGTH OF THE STAY. IF YOU CHECK IN WITH A DOG OR THE DOG IS OVER 40 POUNDS WITHOUT PREVIUS WRITTEN AUTORIZATION YOUR RESERVATION WILL BE IMMEDIATELY CANCELLED WITHOUT ANY REFUNDS)â Not only did they bring a dog, they brought a large dog that was well over the weight limit and tried to not pay for it. When we questioned them about the dog they say they didnât read the email, so how they got the code for the door and all passwords that was in the same email. The husband told that it was NOT a service dog or emotional dog, but that they take the dog everywhere which is ok we love pets but is rules and fee on them.
The moment they checked in the nightmare started. The wife called us very late on a Saturday night when almost every business and service was closed to tell us that the internet and cable were not working. We told them to re-start the router and that we were going to make a three-way phone call with the cable first and after the internet.
1. On the phone call with the cable, the cable technician asked her what the problem was and the wife was upset that we would not provide them with our personal Netflix username and password. We explained to her that we do not give our personal Netflix username and password our as that is not included in not only this reservation, but any reservation on VRBO. The cable technician told the wife that wasnât included on their end either. We explained to the wife that she needed to personally sign up for a Netflix account and she immediately started berating us. The wife then stated that she could not see any channels. The cable technician told her to just turn on the tv and go to channel 105 to 390 (we told her the same thing). We have 285 channels but the guest was upset that we did not have one specific channel as she wanted to watch a tv series she was hallway through. The cable technician explained to her that she does not know all the series names and programs on each channel, but if the guest would give her a channel name the technician could help find the number. Once again the wife became irate and began berating the poor cable technician. Itâs sad that we have 285 cable channels, and these guests couldnât find anything to watch. We all agreed that the cable worked just fine and that basically the wife was just calling to complain. We spent over an hour on the phone for this so to say we were not attentive or didnât care is very disingenuous.
2. After we hung up with the cable technician the wife began threatening us with a bad review if we did not give her our personal Netflix username and password. We tried once again to explain to her and the Husband that we do not give our personal Netflix credentials to guests. Once again, the wife blew her top and started using vulgar language and threats.
3. A few moments later the wife called back and stated that the indoor fireplace was not working. We explained to her that it was a brand-new fireplace and we walked her through the instructions that are not only hanging on the wall next to the fireplace, but that are also printed in our welcome book on the counter. We explained to them that it is the first time that the fireplace was being used after summer so they had to wait a couple of minutes for the gas to come through the lines. We also explained to her that there was no remote, that all they had to do was push a button on the rock wall surrounding the fireplace. They refused to follow our instructions and the wife just kept screaming that we needed to come fix it right away and again started threating us with bad reviews. This was almost midnight on a Saturday. We explained to them that we would send the handy man out as soon as possible but that it would most likely be on Monday morning. We tried to explain to the wife that nobody was going to run over there in the middle of the night to push a button on a fireplace (the cabin has central heat she just wanted to sit by a fire). The wife did nothing but scream at us (over the phone and via text) that night and all day Sunday. The handyman came out on Monday at the agree upon time and could not gain access because the guests stood him up and went into town to eat. So here they are screaming at us to fix an appliance (which wasnât even broken) and when we send someone out to fix it they disappear. The wife then continued to berate us all day Monday. At this point we offered them that if the fireplace is not working, that we will give them a refund of 1 night. When the handyman arrived on Tuesday the fireplace instantly turned on. Itâs not that difficult to just press a button on the rock fireplace. You would think at this point the wife would apologize for screaming at us and threating us but NOOOO she called VRBO asking for us to give her a $300 refund (they paid less than $200 per night and the fire place worked the whole time).
4. The wife would constantly call us and complain that she had to drive up the road to get to the top of the mountain to our home. Can you believe this? Who books a mountain top cabin and then complains that you actually have to drive up an incline to get there? Did the wife think that I-75 ends at our driveway? Most of our cleaning personnel are young females that drive Toyotaâs and Hondaâs and they have no problem getting up there daily. It is a gravel road maintained by the county so there are no ruts.
5. The wife called us and wanted to have an outdoor fire and was irate that we would not deliver firewood to her. We explained to her that there are firewood stands all throughout the region and Home Depot and the grocery stores in town sold firewood. We also told her that she was surrounded by a forest to grab some sticks and logs off of the ground. Once again she demanded her money back for a service that we do not even offer.
6. The wife called throughout her stay and was upset that there were leaves on the porches. We tried to explain to her that it was fall in the mountains and that leaves fall from the trees this time of year and that we had no control over mother nature. Once again, the wife was demanding we comp her free nights for this.
We wish we would have just kicked them out in the beginning. We felt bad for the wifeâs mental condition and it turned into nothing but days of her harassing us and threating us with lawsuits and bad reviews because she couldnât turn on a tv or a push button fireplace, or because she was too lazy or inept to sign up for her own Netflix account. She even went as far as calling us vulgar names. The wife did nothing but hound us for a free stay from the moment she checked in. She would create problems in her head and then demand a refund for them. Every call was the same thing, her demanding free stuff and money from us. We have let most of the other cabin owners in the region know to steer clear from this couple. They will never be welcome at any of our properties again.
The house and the views were beautiful. Great location to downtown Blue Ridge and hiking trails.
We stayed for a long weekend and the house fit all of our needs. It was clean and easy to access. The property manager was great with communicating prior to our stay.

Pretty view & nice cabin
Half of the road up to the cabin was gravel. The kitchen was not equipped like a chef kitchen. We had 4 forks, no cutting board, only one lid for pots & very few pots. Porches were not swept at all.
Our family loved the beautiful cabin and lovely scenery. We had everything we needed and loved the remote location on the very top of the mountain! The owners are so awesome and very informative. Thanks again for sharing this gorgeous cabin with our family!
Upon arrival, there is the scent of cinnamon & apples throughout the cabin accompanied by cute apple decor in the kitchen and living room.
The cabin was very CLEAN & well stocked with dishes, utensils, pots, & pans.
If you forgot your shower gel & shampoo, no worriesâŚeach shower has dispensing units that are in the shower.
We mostly stayed at the cabin and would venture into downtown to shop and eat. The cabin is beautiful & peaceful. We were happy just being there and enjoying the surroundings.
We played Fusbol almost every night and it was so much fun.
I canât say enough about how much we enjoyed our stay here.
The hot tub is also very nice and relaxing with ample room.
The jacuzzi in the upper level bathroom was also a nice feature and you get a picturesque view while soaking.
The road to the cabin is a mix of paved & unpaved roads, but as you keep ascending itâs all gravel and dirt. We had a an SUV, so it wasnât a problem for us to get to.
Owners were responsive & this cabin was perfect in every way! Highly recommend this property if youâre looking for a special getaway with family!
I do not know where to start! The hosts were so wonderful and responded quickly to all inquiries. The cabin is on wonderful location with a beautiful view. The cabin was very clean and cozy. The kids had the best time at the game room and enjoyed exploring outside the property. They are pet friendly, our puppy Bruce also enjoyed himself, we have never seen him so relaxed. My favorite is the morning and evening view from the master bedroomâs balcony, I had my morning coffee there and just soaked in the beautiful sunrise. To sum it all up it was the best cabin we have rented and just had all but positive experiences. I highly recommend this cabin and plan to return again!
Everything about our stay was exceptional. The cabin itself was clean and had everything we needed. The owner was extremely responsive with the one inquiry we had. Definitely recommend if you are looking for a peaceful getaway!
