About this property

Private beach access - located in a secluded community

The Gnome Home is one of the most recent additions to our small, private salt water community of rentals. It is located in a neighborhood called Agnew, which is half way between Sequim and Port Angeles, on the North Olympic Peninsula. Our location is very unique as we are one of very few properties having private access to the salt water beach. It is set apart and secluded by being found at the end of the county road where traffic stops and the deer, eagles and other wildlife choose to make their home within the special area bordered by the fields of the farm, the creek and the Strait of Juan de Fuca.
The Gnome Home along with its tiny twin next door, the Fawn House, is the smallest of our rental choices. It is privately set back against a woodland lot having a winding nature trail through it leading to the unique, although challenging for some, spectacular beach trail, a five minute hike down through the wildlife habitat area which is a steep gulley along our section of the magical McDonnell Creek. The creek ends its journey from the top of the Olympic Mountains by forming a quiet lagoon at the base of the beach trail which is a wonderful wildlife spotting site for viewing playful river otter, fish and birds like the kingfishers and eagles. From there the lagoon spills on to the rocky salt water beach strewn with logs and driftwood where you can hike along the mostly uninhabited beach toward the world famous Dungeness Spit as you watch the ships pass through the shipping lanes between the U.S.A. and Canada.
We offer other easier walking nature trails to explore as well, where you may want to sit and rest or watch the evening sunset and spectacular view.
The Gnome Home sleeps two comfortably in the queen size bedroom and two more in the double size sleeper/sofa in the main living area. There is one bathroom with a shower, having a skylight overhead. The small laundry set, a full size refrigerator, propane stove and microwave oven all add to your convenient stay. An electric fireplace provides some cozy ambiance while you relax in the living room and watch basic cable T.V. or find entertainment with WIFI.
It is fully equipped with dishes, glassware, pots, pans, utensils plus towels, blankets, pillows and linens.
It is a twenty minute drive into either of the nearby towns, both of which have several choices for grocery shopping, restaurants and gift shops.
For quick items or great wine choices, you would want to visit the nearby, neighborhood Agnew Grocery & Feed which has many other fun things to offer including farm animal viewing. The Olympic Discovery Trail is a mile away where you could ride a bike into either of the two towns and beyond on what used to be the old railroad line.
The Olympic National Park is a close drive from Port Angeles, up the mountain to famous Hurricane Ridge. There are so many other special sites and hikes to see as well on the North Olympic Peninsula. When you are ready to venture out, many of the places you will want to visit such as the beautiful, clear blue Lake Crescent and the Sol Duc Hot Springs are within about an hour’s drive away. Even the temperate Hoh Rain Forest and Pacific Ocean beaches can be reached and enjoyed during a day’s trip from the cozy Gnome Home you will return to in the evening after your fantastic day long outing.

Very cute and comfortable
The home is small but very well equipped and the decor follows the theme in the name of Gnome Home and is very well done and lots of fun. Kitchen had everything we needed and there were lots of towels and even a washer and dryer. Just be careful of the red switch in the kitchen. We ran out of hot water and realized after a few cold showers that we had switched it off by mistake (our error)!! We were very comfortable and would definitely stay there again if we are in the area.

Worth it!
Property was clean and fresh with just about everything you might possibly need to cook, clean and be cozy with. The trails around the property and down to the ocean side are a major plus for staying here. We did not have any need to contact our host, since everything was in working order and as stated on the vrbo site. Would be happy to book property again. Fun to have the deer/wildlife around and to enjoy watching seals etc, from the shoreline. All around this was an enjoyable stay for us.

Cute, clean place but not what we expected based on the description.
My brother and I stayed in Gnome Home, a cute, tiny mobile home with most of what we needed. The ad leads one to believe it is one unit among a few (we thought 3-4 units) spread out on plot of wooded acreage and instead it was a mobile home park with many units (15 or more) crowded together and no private outdoor space and only one outdoor chair located behind the unit. Clean unit in clean neighborhood tucked back on a dead end street. It was quiet and nice but not what was expected. Landlord was immediately responsive to issue with washing machine and very nice.

Beautiful private beach.
We really enjoyed the large private beach. We only saw one other person walking on the beach while we there. Definitely worth the it!

The beach trail and access was fabulous! It's a wild, windy beach; note that the water is too cold to swim in! But what a view and such a nice beach to walk along! There's an outlook with an incredible view from the cliffs above the beach. Lots of bald eagles. The home itself was comfy and very, very clean. Bed was super comfy and a plethora of bed linens were provided. My son had fun finding gnomes hiding throughout the Gnome home. I heartily recommend this home!

We feel very fortunate to be able to live in one of the most beautiful and unique spots on the North Olympic Peninsula and to be able to share it with travelers seeking to experience the beauty and wonders of this special area. We are located on several acres of land, partially farmland, partially woodland on the high bank waterfront bluff along the Strait of Juan de Fuca. Our views are of the majestic Olympic mountain range to the south and of Vancouver Island, B.C. to the north. Having a wooded creek as our eastern boundary, we are able to provide the unique access pathway to the beach below. All of our several vacation rental homes enjoy the use of this same five minute hiking trail which is the most treasured feature of our properties. Wildlife abounds in this natural habitat where deer, eagles, river otter, seals and more are seen as an every day occurrence. We work daily at our other businesses where we sell home improvement products such as appliances, flooring, cabinets etc. We strive to have all of our vacation homes reflect our enthusiasm for inviting, quality interiors so that our guests feel truly welcome and at home while they stay in our homes.

Why they chose this property

We have lived on this acreage for many, many years and have gradually developed several vacation rentals on it over the past few years. We love this beautiful land and try to keep it looking it's best for everyone who comes to visit so that they will enjoy it as much as we do.

What makes this property unique

This spectacular location is incredibly secluded and private. It is quiet and therapeutic to hear the sound of waves crashing and the occasional fog horns from the passing ship traffic. When the deer stroll past the porch and nibble on the fruit trees, and the peacock comes by to check things out, it is like a storybook setting.
