Very nice home. Yvette, our host was wonderful. Lots of stairs … if you have an issue with stairs, this house may not be for you. There are stairs everywhere; even in the shower. This house is a long way from Hilo. About an hour south.

Family Vacation

I was so excited about this house when I booked it and it did not disappoint! The landscaping and pool were incredible and 4 bedrooms with big beds was perfect for us. We loved the pool, fruit trees and coquis at night. Only downsides would be, only 2 bathrooms. A third would’ve been nice, especially for the bedroom that was separated from the rest of the house and the location was a bit far from Hilo but both of those things were worth it for how amazing the house was.

Amazing House!

The design and beauty of the house were amazing. It was very comfortable for our family of 5. I wish I would’ve planned a little more time to enjoy the house and grounds. Yvette was super helpful with restaurant recommendations and anything else we needed.

a beautifully designed and elegant modern house that makes a great base of operations for exploring volcanoes park and soaking in the insane lava landscape of this part of hawaii. property manager Yvette was a pleasure to work with and extremely helpful and available whenever we needed anything (for instance, figuring how to turn off outside lights during a lunar eclipse!)

The Lava Flow House was a spectacular home and the perfect setting for our family vacation to the Big Island. Both the interior and the surrounding landscape are stunning.The house itself is beautifully decorated, modern, climate-controlled, and spacious. The lanai connecting one of the bedrooms to the main living area was a true highlight — with all the glass doors open, it created a seamless indoor-outdoor space with mesmerizing views over the lava flow landscape. Watching it transform from sunrise to sunset and into the evening never got old. The pool became a daily ritual for us — a refreshing morning swim to start the day and an evening dip to wind down became something we looked forward to every day. The landscaped gardens and fresh fruit on the property felt so peaceful and authentically Hawaiian. Once you’re on the grounds, the home becomes an incredibly private oasis. It was even better than the listing photos.Yvette is a model host — extremely attentive, friendly, and responsive. The house was impeccably clean, and she was communicative throughout our stay, including keeping us informed about the Kīlauea eruptions. Episode 44 was an absolute highlight of the trip, and Yvette was a wonderful guide through the whole experience.We will absolutely return to The Lava Flow House on our next visit to the Big Island. Thank you for such a wonderful home and an unforgettable stay.

Beautiful house & grounds

The house is architectural stunning. Clean lines, all the glass sliders. Just beautiful! The lava flow behind the house is mesmerizing, and the grounds are gorgeous, all the flowers, trees & fruit. Let's not forget the pool & covered patio, all so perfect. A lot of planning went into this property. It's beautiful, yet comfortable. And Yvette is a wonderful host.

Excellent hideaway!

This house surpassed all of our expectations. Yvette was awesome and had great tips for us. We picked two pineapples from the yard and they were so delicious! We visited Volcano National Park and missed the Kilauea eruption by hours though :(. Otherwise it was a most amazing trip. Be advised this property is very rural. There are no gas stations or grocery stores inside a 20 minute drive, and the road to get to the property is paved but very bumpy. Need to take it slow to avoid carsickness! Gorgeous property, we didn’t even want to leave for our planned expeditions!
