My name is Navlyn.

My partner Bing and I have lived and worked in New York City for the past decade, but could always feel that there was something essential missing.

We found that something *essential* in nature, on this land, in making friends with the butterflies, deers, beavers, and learning from the white pines, giant rocks, and babbling stream.

Here, my grief about climate change and the destruction of natural habitats found a balm - in the stillness and peace of the land. Here, I can sense that I am getting re-plugged in to the natural rhythm of life, to connect deeper with our more-than-human kins. There is so much to learn, so much to sing about, and so much to dream of. We made it our life's mission to discover for ourselves how to live in alignment with natures, how humanity too can sing a part that is in harmony with all of life, rather than in dissonance with it.

Our first project? A permaculture farm! To restore the fields of what previously was a dairy farm into what we call an "enchanted food forest". So far we have planted >1,500 edible trees - black walnuts, hickory, hazelnuts, apples, persimmon, mulberries, elderberries, local spices and medicine, the seed of a forest that will one day provide sustenance not only to humans but also be the home for birds, deers, foxes, and worms.

We are studying herbalism, harvesting the healing powers of plants in food, drinks, skincare products.

We dream of establishing a community, to offer events and retreats to enhance personal wellness, nourish spiritual growth, and explore the wild part of us that has never been fully tamed and conditioned by civil society.

Stay in touch to find out more about future events that explore everything from foraging and survival skills, to permaculture and land management, from voice activations and primal movement, to feminine embodiment and tantra.

Why they chose this property

This 150 acres of land (formerly Munsee Lenape) has a kind of magic where words cannot but fall short.

It consists of fields, forests, marsh, streams and ponds that are home to deer, beaver, coyote, bear, turkey, owls, red-tail hawks, bald eagles, great blue herons, geese, butterflies, bumblebees, wasps, flies, earthworms, fungi, conifers, deciduous trees, wild roses, wild strawberries, blueberry bushes, hummingbirds, cattails, sunfish, bass, field mice….

Part of the land used to be a dairy farm (run by Grandfather Matt Smith, name sake of the road we are on). The rolling fields where we are starting to plant a new forest, a food forest, is the vestige of this farm.

Come walk the trails of the forest, watch the sunset over the pond, experience the wonder of meditating in the forest along the creek, meet new interesting and mysterious friends, and feel the magic that is all around.
