About Adi Nahmani
A person who loves nature, peace and fun activities. I set out to find a lake front home that can fulfill my desires to escape the stressful city life and offer a complete disconnect my day to day life. Everybody needs a place to unwind and forget their worries by changing their environment and creating a nice healthy life balance. Staying active in nature with plenty of activities, watersports, and amenities was my dream growing up. Our family comes together and enjoys spending time with one another. We sit by the fire, roast marshmallows under the stars and enjoy each others company. This home allows me to live my dream and share it with other families who feel the same way!
Adi Nahmani purchased this House in 2015
Why Adi Nahmani chose Monticello
This is everything I could have ever dreamed about in a property. After searching for many years I finally found the property that pretty much has it all. Large 5 Acres of private lake front land in the middle of the Catskills. Its a place for me and the family to unwind and relax. Breathe in fresh air and enjoy the peace and quiet from the busy city life. We managed to find a safe haven with a multitude of activities, fun, sports, and relaxation. The most beautiful part is the night sky and clear stars that are almost impossible to see in a city environment.
What makes this House unique
The house is a very large contemporary looking lake home in great condition. It sits on 5 acres of land with about 200 feet of Lake Frontage. It has a private boat launch and option to choose from in-ground heated pool or hot tub. There are activates for all seasons of the year and lots of privacy! There are porches, balconies, decks, and open land to breath fresh air and enjoy the lake views and wildlife. Whether its a snowy winter ATV trip through the wood trails or a sunny summer Jet-ski water-sports day, everyone in the family comes together to create new bonds. Inside the house offers all the activities you can imagine. Amazing property and very unique
Host was very nice and accommodating,
Fabulous house with all amenities
We just returned from a family vacation at this beautiful property. The setting is beautiful with stunning views, the house is luxurious and provides all imaginable amenities. The owner and caretaker are very responsive to all requests, and we are looking forward to returning next year!
Thank you very much for all the kind words. We strive to offer our guests the best stay possible. We look forward to hosting you and your family soon!
This property was everything we hoped it would be, and more. The lake, the dock, the pool, the fire pit and the basement activities were perfect for a 4-day stay by adults and grandchildren.
Great House-Bad Experience with Owners
Striking modern house with updated bathrooms, beautiful property on lake.
DO NOT INSTANT BOOK this property.
Work directly with owners before you commit any money. Make sure they countersign the agreement before you pay the agreed upon price. There are many additional fees associated with guests and pets.
In addition the owners also falsely claimed property damage so make sure you get insurance and take photos before you leave.
Finally if you are considering a summer rental make sure they have rectified the wasp situation by the pool and the dock.
Once again great house...shady owners!
We appreciate the kind words regarding our property. The VRBO platform is programmed to calculate the reservation costs based on the dates and the number of guests in the reservation. This guest had initially decided to make an instant booking reservation for one (1) adult only and was charged according to our base rate (up to six guests). When we had spoken with him to confirm the reservation, the number of guests increased to an average of 8-10 total guests, which was not reflected in the original reservation. We reviewed that internally decided as a family that we would NOT charge this guest for his additional guests and considered it to be a mistake or oversight at the time of booking. Additionally, we had requested a detailed headcount for the guest that would be staying at the property. Upon their arrival, we learned that there were more than 22 people at the property at a given time including additional pets that were not mentioned. This was a violation of both our rental agreement and VRBO's ethics for booking a reservation. After initially being very accommodative and forgiving, we felt strongly that this guest may have had intentions to circumvent our guest policy and game the system which was not appreciated or welcomed. It was very challenging to communicate that with the guest during their stay and to make sense of this discrepancy but in the end, we were able to reach a resolution with one another. We always take great pride in protecting our property and sharing it with people who want to enjoy a lakefront property in the Catskills. We appreciate both honesty and integrity while making a reservation through the platform that reflects the group and guests most accurately. Had this guest entered the correct number of people in his party, the cost of the rental would have been reflected automatically and no discrepancy would have occurred. We encourage all of our future guests to be as detailed as possible when booking reservations so that all expectations are set in advance and so that we are in the best position to host you and your families at our beautiful home.
Starlight Lake House
Awesome house and setting. We had a great week. The owners Adi and Ben were very responsive and helpful.
Beautiful house and great getaway
We recently went on vacation at the end of July 2019. There was 14 of us. 7 kids and 7 adults. Plenty of room. The house is beautiful and the owners were a pleasure to work with and were quickly available to answer any questions. The pictures of inside the house are accurate. The upstairs is beautiful. The kids all loved having the downstairs to themselves and having the huge TV and pool table. The only reason I did not give the place 5 stars, is the pool area. The pool was clean, but the bricks surrounding it were very loose and the lining of the pool in one section was held up with screws. There were a lot of weeds around the pool and the table out there had no table top.
Thank you for the review and the compliments! We are glad you enjoyed your stay!
The pool area is scheduled to be repaired but was delayed in order to support the demand for people to enjoy the property. Rest assured this will be addressed before your next reservation!
We look forward to hosting your wonderful family again soon!

The Department of Environmental Conservation has stocked Swinging Bridge Lake with fish periodically. There are many varieties of fish found in the lake, such as trout, bass, pickerel, blue gill, carp perch, catfish, walleye, large mouth bass, and crappies.
The area surrounding Swinging Bridge Lake is teeming with wildlife. You can always spot deer, whole families of turkeys, turkey buzzards, fox, rabbits, a great variety of songbirds, blue herons, black bears, even beaver have been spotted swimming along the edge of the lake. But foremost, Swinging Bridge Reservoir has become nesting grounds for the American bald eagle and it is a sight to behold, watching these majestic birds soaring the skies over the lake. Because of these beautiful eagles, the entire area below the Swinging Bridge embankment is a designated a Bald Eagle habitat. Recreational use of this area is administered by the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation.
Swinging Bridge is an 1,000 acre motorboat lake, approximately 9 miles long, that straddles three towns. The northern two thirds of the eastern shore is in the towns of Thompson (north) and Forestburgh (south), while the western shoreline is in the towns of Bethel and Forestburgh.
Swinging Bridge is a reservoir, part of a five lake power generating system owned by Eagle Creek Renewable Resources. The Swinging Bridge dam is at the southern end of the lake. The water level on this lake can vary by as much as twenty or more feet over the course of the year, with the lowest water period typically at the end of August. This is one reason that docks on Swinging Bridge are floating, so they can move up or down with the lake levels. In most years, the lake level is also dropped by fifteen or twenty feet prior to the onset of winter to mitigate the effect of ice pressure on the dam and shoreline.
The lake has roughly three sections. The northern third of the lake is comprised of two narrower ‘fingers’, so don’t have big wide lake views, but have less motorboat traffic. At the very northern tips, the lake is much shallower, so when water levels are lower the impact is more apparent.
The central part of the lake is the widest, and there are two marinas towards the northern end of the central section off of Starlight Road. The western shoreline along the central section is comprised of the gated Chapin Estate.
The lower third of the lake. It’s the least developed and the most ‘pristine’, largely the result of restrictions to protect the eagle population. The eastern (Forestburgh) shoreline in this area is an eagle nesting preserve,a 300 foot wide buffer area where no tree cutting, limbing or building is permitted. There are houses in this area, but they’re set a minimum of 300′ back from the shore, and are prohibted from clearing the trees to open up a lake view, although floating docks are permitted at the shoreline. When you’re on a boat in this area, it feels like you’re on a pristine, largely undeveloped mountain lake. A popular activity is boating to this part of the lake, pulling your boat up along the shore and enjoying a summer picnic.
