Our experience at this house was pretty good. The house is beautiful, and the owners did a good job of adding extra touches to make our stay special. We were there over Christmas, and they thoughtfully provided a Christmas tree to make the house festive for us. A fully stocked drinks refrigerator and coffee bar were a special touch, as was the welcome bottle of wine (except we couldn't find a corkscrew to open it). Supplying small toiletries in case we forgot anything was a great idea.
The king sized beds were incredibly comfortable to sleep on, with extra blankets provided in case we got cold. The sofa in the living room was comfortable and could hold a group to sit and watch TV or a movie. Having a garage available to park cars in was nice when it snowed, and the fire pit in the back yard was a nice place to enjoy a drink at night.
Some concerns - it is advertised as sleeping 14 people. That will only work if there are two people in every bed - two people in each bunk in the bunk bed room, two people in each bed in the room with double beds shoved together, and four people in the basement bedroom. We had eight adults, and only two couples, and were able to sleep comfortably, though the double beds were softer than the king beds. If you were staying here with a couple of families with many children, it would be a better fit than if you were trying to come with a group of couples. There were some weird bed configurations - the top bunk of the bunk beds was too close to the ceiling fan, so the fan couldn't be used. The room with the two double beds pushed together was awkward. It was hard to get in and out of the beds, and the beds blocked access to the outlets, so it was hard to plug in chargers for phones.
The house is advertised as sleeping 14, but there was only enough seating at the dining table for 6 people, and only enough silverware, plates, and glasses for 6. Our entire group was 13 people, and when we were all together for a meal we had to eat in shifts, washing dishes in between shifts. Adding more silverware, plates, bowls, and glasses would help out. Extra folding chairs, and maybe a dining table that extends to seat more people would be nice.
Some other things that would have made our stay nicer? A teakettle, either electric or stovetop. The coffeemakers and coffee pods were a great touch, but some of our group preferred tea over coffee, and that meant we were boiling water in a pot on the stove. Toilet paper holders, whether free-standing or wall-mounted! Silly perhaps, but several of our family mentioned that lack. Coat hooks or a coat rack by the doors would be helpful, since there is no dedicated coat closet. Also, a mat for shoes to rest on would have been nice, especially after it snowed and we had wet shoes. Instructions on the thermostat would be helpful; it got very warm at times, and we could not figure out how to adjust the temperature. A humidifier on the furnace, or free standing humidifiers would help with the dryness.
Overall we had a good experience. The house is nicely decorated, albeit smaller than the photos led us to believe. It was easy to find, conveniently located and comfortable. For our Christmas trip to Colorado it was a great place to stay. The owners have worked hard to make this a comfortable home away from home, and we enjoyed our stay there. The negative aspects to the house did not ruin our stay, and I am only mentioning them because they would have made a good stay at the house a truly fantastic stay.
