Charming 1910 House on Main Street - Beautiful Landscaped Yard
This charming 1910 house is on the main street in Old Town Lafayette. It is across the street from restaurants, a coffee shop and a few blocks from a rec center and Festival Plaza. It has a beautifully landscaped back yard. We have a wheelchair accessible, fully ADA compliant bathroom, shower and main room sleeping area.
Once a week there is a farmers market a few blocks down the street in the Lafayette Florist parking lot. Enjoy the park and walks around Waneka Lake, where paddle boats are available for rent between Memorial and Labor Day. Kids can enjoy running through the water fountain feature a few blocks down at Festival Plaza and have some ice cream at Eats and Sweets. The WOW! Children’s Museum is also just blocks away from our property. Later in the day, you can take advantage of several local breweries just a short walk away.
The Pearl Street Mall in Boulder is just 10 miles away along with hiking trails at the beautiful Chautauqua Park. Many ski areas such as Eldora, Winter Park, Breckenridge and Vail are just a one to two hour drive away.
My husband Pete and I have lived in Lafayette for many years. We love the Boulder county area and the people in this community. My dream was to provide a cozy lodging place for guests and especially the families of locals to stay while visiting.

Very cute, clean and well appointed home. The location was fantastic as well. Walking distance to fun shops, restaurants and coffee houses. We had a great stay.
Susan was responsive and a great host. She made the check-in/out process easy and even accommodated an early check-in. I would definitely stay again. The property is on the main old town area of Lafayette and there were plenty of activities to do within walking distance. The property’s location made a nice break after a long days drive.
The House was the perfect haven for us as we attended a family gathering and wedding in Denver. It was clean, cozy and inviting and had one of the best kitchens I have seen in a vacation rental. All kinds of cooking utensils, spices and condiments. Our host was very helpful and prompt with answers to my questions. The location is right in the middle of "Old Town" Lafayette, with ready access to coffee, restaurants, and shopping. There's a wonderful farmer's market on Sunday morning. Although there's a lot of activity and traffic during the day, it quiets down completely at night. We enjoyed our coffee sitting on the front porch and in the beautiful back yard. Thank you for this restful home during our busy wedding week!
We loved staying at this charming home. It was a perfect home base, as we spent time in Denver and the Boulder areas. The home had everything we needed and was clean! We especially enjoyed walking across the street for breakfast and down the road for dinners. Highly recommend!
Was a really nice house - looks just like the photos. There's also a great little gravel sitting area outside as well. Right in the middle of downtown - was walking distance to the shops/restaurants. Owner was welcoming and very helpful. Really enjoyed our time there.
Awesome property & stocked w/ all the amenities you could ask for. Perfectly situated in Lafayette & responsive property manager as well. We all loved our stay!
Home was well furnished and sited in downtown area with art fest nearby on the first night that owner notified us of that we had a good time at. Plenty of restaurants available nearby.
The house was perfect for our stay. The location is perfect with easy access to any activities that we wanted to do. House also had everything that we needed.
The house is a great place. Very kind host. Very helpful. Would stay here again.

Great house in great location!
We thoroughly enjoyed our 10 day stay at this house in the quaint little town of Lafayette. The house is extremely well appointed. Lots of cute shops and awesome restaurants within walking distance. Owners are very easy to work with. Wouldn’t hesitate to book again!
My family (2 adults and one infant) stayed while visiting friends. The house had everything we needed and was cozy. Location is close to coffee shops and restaurants. Rooms are small but comfortable. We enjoyed eating on the porch
Was lovely. Only wished the windows upstairs opened. Double bed was kind of small, but this is due to very small rooms. Location is really good right across street from coffee shop. All in all a great place to stay in cute town of Lafayette.
We had a great time in the house. It was comfortable with attention to all the little details that made for a great experience. We could easily walk to local shops and short drives to hiking (Chautauqua Park), breweries, and downtown Boulder. Would definitely use this house again.

Charming house, great location!
We had a delightful stay at Susan and Pete's house. They are gracious and responsive hosts and the house is charming and in a fabulous location! We loved walking to all the great restaurants and coffee shops that downtown Lafayette has to offer. The only con to the fabulous location is that the street can be a bit loud, so we would advise light sleepers to take the back bedroom.
We enjoyed our stay at the House Inn. It was comfortable and had everything we needed. The neighborhood is charming and we took advantage of the nearby restaurants, coffee house, and chocolate shop.
The upstairs bedrooms are a bit small but what you might expect with a charming vintage home.
Thanks Susan for making our stay very pleasant!

About the host

My husband Pete and I have lived in Lafayette for many years. My husband grew up on the East Coast and I am originally from North Dakota. We met and married in Colorado in 1993. We love the Boulder county area and the people in this community. Our family enjoys hiking, biking, snow skiing, riding horses and most any outdoor activity. My dream was to provide a cozy lodging place for guests and especially the families of locals to stay while visiting. We wanted to provide a beautiful outdoor affordable space for people to have a small gathering or party. We have partnered with some amazing caterers that we would love to recommend if you have a special event in mind. (please contact us for catering and event pricing)

Why they chose this property
We purchased this property in 1996, about the time our first child was born, and opened a gift shop. Old Town Lafayette was starting a wonderful transition as the state highway was routed away from downtown. We wanted to be a part of this change as Public Road became walkable, new restaurants and brewpubs opened, and the properties nearby evolved.
Shortly after our second child was born, we decided to close the gift shop and began renting the property. It has been used as a vintage clothing store, a salon and most recently, an acupuncture office. It's taken some time for the town to come into its own, but it's almost to what we envisioned 20 years ago.
Now, traffic moves more slowly; the sidewalks are used later into the evenings; there are great places to dine, snack or just sit and watch kids play. We took over use of the property again in 2017 to create a nice place for visitors to stay and enjoy the town we've come to love.
What makes this property unique
We have a wheelchair accessible, fully ADA compliant bathroom, shower and sleeping area.
Our property is in the heart of Old Town Lafayette. It is located right on Main Street where you can sit on the front porch to people watch and listen to local musicians perform at the restaurant or coffee shop across the street. There is also a private sitting area on the back side of the house. The large, beautifully landscaped back yard is perfect for small events.
The House Inn Old Town serves as both a residential rental, and as a small event venue.
Residential Rental: When booking through Home Away, the published rates apply to lodging and personal use of the property. Up to 8 guests may stay and use the house, outdoor sitting areas and landscaped yard.
Event Venue: Use of the property for events requires a separate contract and additional rates apply. Event reservations include use of the “serving shed”; and use of the landscaped yard to entertain guests not staying at The House Inn.
