Welcome to The Loft, located on the third floor of the historic Abeel House. Constructed in the 1850's, the Abeel House has been thoughtfully refreshed to welcome visitors for the first time in its history.
The Loft is a bohemian style open concept with a spacious living room, separate sleeping area, renovated bathroom, and full kitchen. The apartment is filled with natural light from the windows overlooking Rondout Creek. The Loft has one queen bed, one bathroom with a shower and dedicated heating and cooling. This is the third floor of a duplex home and is accessed via a private entrance on the back of the house.
The entrance is accessed by a full flight of outdoor stairs. There are two additional small sets of steps along the path to the staircase.
The Abeel House is located next to Rondout Creek and at the base of the Wilbur Bridge. The bridge does still see regular freight train traffic, providing a periodic reminder of Kingston's importance as a transportation hub in early America.
The Loft includes many modern amenities and comforts, but as with any old home, it has its own quirks.
Residence One occupies the first two floors of this duplex home and is available to rent separately and may be occupied. Please contact me for inquiries about booking the entire home

The property is simple and affordable. We weren’t planning to spend much time there other than sleeping so it met our needs well enough. Be aware it’s very close to an elevated train track that is actively used and fairly loud especially in the wee hours of the morning.
This was a very sweet stay and the location, ambiance, and design of the loft was really lovely! There was unfortunately a mouse who made their presence known by leaving droppings in the kitchen. We had to buy cleaning supplies because there were no cleaning spray/wipes or even dish soap. However, the host was understanding and provided reimbursement for the items we needed to purchase. Otherwise, the space was clean. My partner and I appreciated the view and the sound of the train going by. It was perfectly cozy and warm, and was a nice stay. Thanks so much for having us!
This is a super-cute loft in a great location (Rondout--fun!), perfect for one or two people. It is conveniently located to Hutton Brickyard where I attended a 4-day fair, on the river, and--although right below the train--did not disturb my sleep in the comfy bed. The entire place was just what I hoped for.
We had a wonderful stay at Stojan’s property! Great spot for a weekend getaway and Stojan was very helpful and responsive if/when needed. Highly recommend!
This loft was the perfect little vacation spot to stay in for my partner and I. Super cozy, with beautiful light, and a view of the water. We loved being right under the train overpass- it provided another level of cozy ambiance that made the place feel special.
This was the perfect little spot for our weekend getaway! A little chilly with just the space heater in October, and the entrance was low light and we couldn’t get the keypad on the door to work (although that could have been user error). Overall it was an amazing stay :)
Beautiful view of the Hudson River. The host was great with communication and smooth check in/check out. Very clean and cozy. 5 STARS for the bohemian loft!!!! Thank you!!!

Super cute! Everything you need! Very cute coffee shop In walking distance!! View of the water was calming. Great hosts.
I was in town for an event at the Hutton Brick Yard. This spot was close and the perfect respite from the chaos of the weekend long event. The perfect place to unwind. There is also a great coffee shop very close by. 10/10 will come back definitely
The place is as described and it was clean. It was cold when we entered and only has one unit to heat the whole place and it never got warm. We also did not have any hot water. The train tracks are directly above the property and ran every hour which made sleeping difficult. When I contacted the host I asked for credit for the second night due to these issues. He said he would. It has been two weeks and now he has ghosted us and does not answer nor has refunded us the second night. I waited to write this review in hopes it would turn out differently.

I really liked the place but there was no hot water and the stove did not work. I was promised a refund. The manager tried to resolve the issue and finally told me the owner, who I am not allowed to name, told him he would give me a refund. I followed up and the owner also told VRBO he would give me a refund. He will not reply. I have reasons to return to Kingston, I left it spotless and am very disappointed in the owner. The manager tried his best.

Inadequate action to rectify property issue
The place is cute and well-equipped. However, the building itself was not well-labeled with the street number and the back stairs were a bit hidden and covered by some overgrowth. Overall the pictures are mostly accurate but it’s a bit more dated than it appears. It’s also right under the railroad bridge which can be jarring when a train comes through in the early morning hours.
The real issue however was the property lacked hot water. When that issue was raised to the property manager, we were given instructions as to how to check on it ourselves. When those instructions did not lead to any results, we were told someone would come look at it. No one ever came and we were repeatedly asked if we had let the water run long enough. My wife took a 20 minute cold shower. That should have been long enough. We understand things happen but hot water is kind of a given and the lack of responsiveness and action was disappointing.
