About this property

Meadow View II @Ephraim Beach

Door County, Wisconsin is a special place in its own right but Ephraim is a quiet village perfect for families that want to experience a simpler life, for couples that want to keep the flame alive, for outdoor enthusiasts that hike, bike or kayak, for gals that want girl time, for guys that love to boat and fish, and for everyone else in between who wants to feel at home while on vacation.

Your cottage, which is located on the Ephraim Village Cottage resort property in Ephraim, WI, has everything you need to relax, unwind, and reconnect with family, friends, and even make new friends. Morning coffee (coffee maker and filters provided) is even more delicious while sitting on the front deck. And meals cooked outside on the Weber charcoal grill at your cottage is even more delicious when enjoyed out on the picnic table. Your kitchen is fully stocked (cookware/dishes/serving ware/fridge/oven/microwave), towels are soft, beds are comfy, and of course your cottage is sparkling clean.

Meadowview II is a single level cottage with two steps up onto the deck. There are three bedrooms (2 queen, 2 twins). Bedrooms have carpet and the living space has laminate flooring. There is a flat screen TV and very comfy furniture which includes one Lazy Boy recliner. The cottage sits near the community fire pit and children’s playground but far enough away to not be disturbed by them. The front yard is shared with your hosts and has a nice shade tree. It's perfect to play yard games, throw frisbees, and play catch. It faces a huge wooded area and very quiet Larson Lane and is frequented by our resident rabbits that live in the hedges.

From your cottage you can enjoy a starry night with adult beverages or mornings with beautiful birdsongs and hot coffee. Walk two minutes to the Ephraim beach for some sun, sand, swim and sunsets. Join the other guests in our surrounding cottages for stories, laughter and smores around the fire pit which boasts seating for 12 in sturdy rockers that support up to 350lbs (plus a bench that supports up to 500 lbs).

The driveway is shared with the cottage next door. The driveway will fit three cars parked bumper to bumper or a car/truck and boat trailer on each side of the driveway.

Clean, nice cottage, very pet friendly
My husband and I and our 80lb greyhound stayed here for 4 nights and it worked out very well. Clean, basic cottage for a (Door County-relatively) low price for its size. They provide a complete cover for the couch, so our dog had a nice spot to sleep. Nice bathroom. Highly recommended if wanting to stay near the water but off the main road. Kitchen worked well for us, but I could see it being a little difficult to prepare a family meal there were we to have stayed there with our kids back when they were small. But this would be a challenge in just about any cottage/cabin kitchen. Master bedroom bed was comfortable. Door wouldn't close all of the way, so we weren't able to keep dog out in early morning. Same issue would arise if you brought kids. Completely contact-free check-in and checkout. All essentials were supplied. Location is absolutely perfect. Walk-able to food and shops in Ephraim, and a very short drive to both Fish Creek and Sister Bay. Husband took a couple of very nice road bike rides on the inner low-traffic roads of the peninsula, easily accessible from this property.

About the host

The history of the property you will stay at on your vacation is rich.  The Ephraim Village Cottage property was originally owned by Daryl's grandparents and was part of the Larson Cottages property that is seen from the highway.  In the late 60's Daryl's dad, Roger,  purchased the piece of land that faces Larson Lane, where the Meadowview Cottages sit, and with Daryl's mom Norma, created what was called Meadowview Cottages until the buyout in 2006 by an investor who turned the property into Ephraim Village Cottages.

In 2019 Daryl had the opportunity to bring the property back into the Larson family and on March 5, 2020 it became official.  He is now the third generation owner of the small resort.

Daryl and Ruann live on the property full time as owners and as your hosts.  Daryl has a lifetime of hospitality experience raised on the property and then managing the property for the investor.  Daryl also served as a US Marine.  Ruann is a sign language interpreter by trade and uses her craft to communicate with deaf guests during the vacation season and via remote work during the off season.

Seeing families with children, couples, and friends enjoy their "backyard" on vacation brings them immense joy.  The sounds of children playing on the playground, friends laughing around the firepit, family reunions gathering for a picnic, and smelling delicious food barbequeing on the grills makes the resort come alive in the spring, summer, and fall.  Then in the winter the whole property beds down under a blanket of snow for a long winters nap while Daryl and Ruann think about and put into action plans for upgrades to the cottages and improvements to guest amenities.

Welcome Home to Ephraim Village Cottage.  You are now family.

May your stay be in a peaceful and secure dwelling in an undisturbed place of rest.  Isaiah 32:18.

Your Hosts – Daryl and Ruann Larson

Why they chose this property

Postcard perfect. That is a common phrase used to describe our little Village in gorgeous Door County, WI. We are set back in time when life was simpler, quieter, and peaceful. The night skies are dark and filled with brilliant stars. The mornings are filled with bird songs, fresh crisp air, and beautiful sunlight. Our 3 acres is covered in lush green grass, lots of trees, and many opportunities to simple Be.

Ephraim is a village with a true village feel. Within walking distance you will find a delicious breakfast spot called Good Eggs, homemade fudge at the Door County Confectionery, creamy ice cream at Wilson's Restaurant, and the Best Fish Boil in the entire county at the Old Post Office. You are two minutes away from incredible sunsets, a sandy beach and blocks away from a number of art galleries, quaint shops, and Village historical sites. If the outdoor life is what you crave, Peninsula State Park with its hiking and biking trails is a short car drive from the cottage. Are you a theatre buff? Northern Sky Theatre is located in Peninsula State Park and for movie lovers the drive-in theater with a nightly double feature is right up the road. Want to sight see? Take a Trolley tour. Love wine? Door County has a plethora of wineries with tours and tastings ready for you to enjoy.

What makes this property unique

From our property you can walk on streets with a 25mph speed limit. The main road (Water Street/Hwy 42) also has a 25 mph speed limit but that has a wonderful sidewalk that takes you three blocks the center of our Village. No need to ride. At times there is a horse-drawn carriage that will give guests rides around the village. We have historic properties (Pioneer School House, Fire House Museum, the Anderson Store, and a small Maritime Museum) all within walking distance. If you want to live in a Hallmark movie, you'll love Ephraim. If you want an authentic/original Door County experience, stay with us.
