Because another property cancelled we had to scramble to find 4th of July accommodations near Gladstone. We got really lucky and found this cottage. Easy location, close to town, quite from fireworks. Worked great for day trips up to Lake Superior as well. The hot tub came in handy after hiking at Pictured Rocks.
We really enjoyed our stay. Got to go ice fishing. Hot tub was great. Stacy and Carl are fantastic hosts that made it super easy. Already considering a summer trip with the boat

This was a wonderful place to stay! The host was quick with responses and great communication! They were also very generous and the place was so clean. I would definitely stay here again! I have stayed in many rentals and this had many extras. The hot tub was especially nice after a long day of ice fishing.

This place was gorgeous! Perfect stay for our 1 yr wedding anniversary :) Stacey and Carl set up some really nice surprises for our anniversary:) Wild life at it's finest while being safe and super cozy! The hot tub was my favorite and the indoor sauna is even better! This is the place to be for a private relaxing getaway! <3 Definitely will book again and again! LUV THE LITTLE HOUSE 4EVEA!
We had a wonderful stay at this house. the house had exactly everything we needed and actually had more than i assumed. the communications and help with the owner was seamless and amazing. She always responded quickly and was happy to help in any way possible. On a side note, the hot tub/Jacuzzi was the icing on the cake. Truly an Amazing Experience!!
This a great home away from home. Its nice and clean. Also Stacy the host is so kind and sweet. We came to a hand written sweet note telling us to enjoy our stay with some stuff to make smores. How cool is that?.... I loved staying at the little house, the hot tub was definitely our fav, its so nice and relaxing. Also the fire pit with the grate over it was very cool. My sister really enjoyed the sauna too as she gets cold easily! If you are looking for a place to stay in the area, this is definitely it. You wont regret it!!!
We thoroughly enjoyed and adored this house and our entire stay! We had our coffee and relaxed in the newer, well kept hot tub every morning and were pleasantly surprised with the wildlife we saw which included turkey, deer, crow, bird, and chipmunk. Each night after a day of exploring we relaxed in the hot tub and cuddled around the fire. The hosts provided everything necessary as well as s’more supplies, wood, starter, etc. The bed was also very comfortable and the house was clean. The only thing I would have liked to see were bug zappers as the mosquitos/midges/gnats got in the house when going out to the hot tub at night. Highly recommend this stay!
The listing was so accurate, however the wildlife in the backyard was more than I could’ve hoped for. Sitting by the fire (they even provided wood, love!) and watching deer eat and bats fly by and we even got a woodpecker visitor. It’s nice and quiet all around and only 15 minutes from bigger towns. Sucks it rained most of the time and couldn’t do much exploring, but I think that was the universe telling us to take a break and relax. Stacy is so kind, they even left cute little chocolate bars for us on the table. The pillows were surprisingly super comfy! We would definitely love to come back and stay here again.

About the host
Hosted by Stacy
I'm your host, Stacy. My husband Carl and I own and operate The Kipling Cottages. We purchased and renovated The Last Resort Cottages in 2022. We purchased and renovated The Little House on Bayshore Drive in Kipling in 2023. We love the Kipling area. We are happy to provide clean, comfortable vacation rentals to our guests.
The Last Resort Cottages are located on Lake Michigan (Little Bay de Noc) and The Little House is about a mile away on Bayshore Drive. (not on the lake)
Why they chose this property
We are both from Gladstone, we love the Kipling area. We love the peaceful, easy feeling of being in Kipling and at the cottages.
What makes this property unique
Great central UP location. Close to Gladstone, Escanaba & Rapid River, yet a private country backyard. Deer wander through daily and several big bucks come every evening. It's fun to watch the deer from the hot tub or deck.
Kipling and Little Bay de Noc are well known for great fishing. We are very close to the bait shops and public launch. Ice conditions in Kipling are better than south of Gladstone, so ice fishing is very popular here.
