Plenty space for kids, but poor maintenance
Bad Things: The lighting of the property is very poor, outdoors and indoors, the atmosphere feels like a cabin on a mountain, but light is still needed. Too much dust, they didn't clean properly, there were dirt and food stains on the floor. The studios next to the property are in poor condition. The upper level has a water leak from the air conditioning unit, not to mention that both AC units above and below must be in the same selection for them to work, something illogical because everyone chooses the temperature of their room. On the lower property, the light is extremely scarce, as well as a lot of dust, even cobwebs in the closets. Regarding the main house, the bathroom located in the master room, the sink is detached from the counter, very dangerous, the bathroom between the rooms has a curtain with mold and moisture. The kitchen is not equipped as it should, few containers for cooking. Good Things: The house is a very good size to group a large family and have privacy. The location is perfect to relax and enjoy the mountains. The areas of the main house are perfect for children to enjoy safely and be able to observe them. The house has countless games, which makes it always something fun. The two terrace areas are excellent for reading and having hot chocolate. In general, the house is profitable, but they must give it more maintenance and the cleaning team must do a better job.

Good family vacation house
This was a great house for larger family vacations! We were able to put the grandparents in the guest apartments so they wouldn’t be bothered by the kid’s early mornings and loud noises. The open interior of the main house was great for the kids because they could run around, play with their toys and watch tv all within sight of the adults. There wasn’t a lot of low breakable items in the house so we didn’t have to worry about the kids getting into anything they shouldn’t. They also LOVED the game room. I will say the house could have been a little better stocked in terms of household items. There wasn’t a whole lot of cookware (pot and pans) and there wasn’t any cleaning spray to wipe down counters. The check-in and out times were also pretty inconvenient. Check in was super late (4 PM) so we had to sit around waiting a long time with young kids and 80+ year olds. We requested an early check in multiple times but kept getting the run around. Check out was 10 AM which made the night before a bummer because we had to clean and pack everything up instead of being able to relax and enjoy our last night together. All in all though, we were very pleased with the property and would stay there again.

Apple Festival Family Get together
Overall we enjoyed the stay. We would suggest that you add better lighting between the houses, spray for bugs, and provide clean kitchen towels. We also had difficulty with check in, as the doors would not unlock. Further, the check out directions were sent after check out which was not very helpful. Thank you for your attention to these comments.

Secluded retreat
We love the property. Had three separate living quarters so that grandparents had a separate area to themselves. Had issues with the septic system on the lower unit which made it unusable after our second day of our week-long stay. We also did not use the plumbing in the upper unit where the grandparents stayed because we were afraid that that would back up the septic as well. Therefore, we were limited to two bathrooms for 13 people for the whole week. While that was a bit of an inconvenience, we all really enjoyed the property and the seclusion. We would definitely stay there again pending the septic issues being resolved. According to the plumber that came out, he said that he had recommended that the tank be pumped out on past occasions, but it had yet to be done. I hope that was not the case , because if so, then they knew of the issue before we rented and they knew that it would be unusable. We did receive a $111 credit which seemed a bit low for the inconvenience of losing half the bathrooms.

Tried something different
Huckleberry Wood was easy to get to and fairly close to restaurants and shopping without the noise and hustle of the town. The location was also great for outings to the waterfall, winery and Asheville. The guesthouse was just what we needed for our family dynamic. The main house had lots of space indoors and out. The family room into the game room was fully utilized. This house was stocked with all of the essentials. The grill and firepit also gave additional options to spend time outdoors. The only downfall was that there was not a shower stall on the main floor.
