The Space:
Camp Because I said I would is owned by a charity, so 100% of our fees go to our nonprofit. Because I said I would is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and we have programs for families in bereavement at this camp. However, we rent our 5 resort cabins during downtime to generate funding for the charity!
Our 92-acre camp and retreat center is in the heart of Amish Country in Knox County where it is very peaceful, private, and quiet. Our property features a 1.5-acre swimming and fishing lake (seasonal), a 2-acre vineyard, 1 mile of privately-owned canopied forest trails. We are so much more than just a place to sleep!
Guest Access:
Guests access this cabin from our second driveway and a property map is provided after booking. We have digital keypad access! Please note you have to drive down a gravel road for about a half mile to get to our property. There are 2 parking spots for cars right next to the cabin, but more parking is available on our property if you are OK with walking a bit.
Other Things to Note:
If you are interested in booking multiple cabins, we have 5 cabins with a total of 16 bedrooms and 13 baths. We have 5 hot tubs on the property, so every cabin gets its own 😊 If you have any other questions, please let us know! Thank you for your interest in a cozy stay, but also for the impact your cabin rental fees have in supporting our charity and the families in bereavement we serve.
Interaction with Guests:
There is a property staffed every night. There is a Guest Support Textline to help you during your stay with a response time of around 1-hour or less.

Fantastic stay and the proceeds benefit a nonprofit. Warm and wonderful cabin. Lovely property and expansive compound. Everything was clean and worked properly. The hot tub was a bonus. Excellent communication with the host. Would definitely return.

It was nice and quiet but it is a bit of a journey to the place. Lovely back roads location. There is a family of racoons that are a bit menacing but if your prepared they arent much trouble.
My husband and i stayed in one of the cabins, as a getaway to celebrate our 5 year anniversary. The cabin so beautifully done, and the hot tub was so nice and relaxing. It was wonderful to get to have a private hot tub. This place was beautiful and we will definitely plan another visit.

Stayed at the cabin while visiting Roscoe Village. Very private setting, nicely kept. Although 2 bedroom, it's a little small for more than 2 people, bathroom is pretty tight.
Would recommend.

The cabin was a bit smaller than expected, but was very clean, well stocked and cozy. The kitchen was very efficient, the bedrooms were comfortable and the bathroom was adequate. We loved the balcony, the hot tub and the overall surroundings. Would really consider a return visit.

This place is one nice little cabin that was very clean and secluded for the most part. You could see another cabin off to the right but not close enough to a bother. Plenty of wood if you like a romantic night by the wood burner. The hot tub was spot as well. We will be back for sure.
Everything was great. One negative was the futons were most uncomfortable to sit on. We didn't sleep on them but were very sore from sitting on them. Beds and pillows were comfy, shower was adequate towels were wonderful. Pans are located up very high. Husband used the hot tub, already hot when we arrived. That was nice. Overall very relaxing weekend. Oh the walking trail was very nice also.
Spent an overnight get away trip with my sister and sister n law. The cabin was perfect, the location was nice and quiet. The cabin was clean, the beds were comfortable. There was even wood for us for the inside fireplace. The hot tub was clean and felt amazing! We even had a little visitor that hung out with us the whole time, little black cat, that is apparently the camp cat, squeakers. She was so sweet and lovable! We had a great time, we will definitely be going back!!! Thank you so much!!

Most beautiful vrbo experience. Unbelievably under charged for everything available for your stay.
So private & quiet the entire experience is like living a dream.
A dream that gives back. It felt good knowing all profits are going to a good cause.
Ill be back!!
Thank you Camp Because I said I would
I booked a personal cabin on the recommendation of my Sister and her Husband. We all met up for a day and had an absolute blast! The cabins are beautiful and the good times we had will be forever etched in our collective memories.
Knowing that the booking was going towards an amazing cause was icing on the cake, and the whole vibe was stellar. “Because I said I would”, is a fantastic name for a great cause. Words to live by.
If my work schedule permitted we would have booked the whole week. Didn’t to leave but we had to.

Peaceful.
The cabin was really cute, howere please do pay attention to which cabin you book it can become confusing. I thought I booked one cabin but it happened to be a different one. The out side could have been dusted a bit more and made sure most of the spiders webs were gone. The shower was a bit dirty and the book kind of made the cabin a we bit scary. Over all it was a very nice cabin with great outside space, we will be booking again over the summer, just this time around I will make sure it is the cabin I wanted and paid for.
