This was the perfect resting place & home base for our family over USAFA’s Parents Weekend. We had everything we needed. Location was great for getting out and adventuring.
So many positives and was exactly what we were looking for.
The host was great to work with. The house had plenty of amenities. I appreciated that spices
And coffee were available to us. My kids loved the tv area with the comfy couches. They spent a lot of time outside on the trampoline and swings too! The beds were very comfy! Negatives were the dishwasher wasn’t working, the yard needed a good weed eating, a few broken screens allowed flies into the house, and you have to be careful about tripping the electricity off in kitchen when running portable AC and microwave. Overall I would stay there again with repairs in place It was a perfect location to Pikes Peak, Manitou Springs and downtown Colorado Springs. You cannot beat the view. It was breathtaking.

About the host
Hosted by Heather Eason
Hello! I'm Heather. Our family has lived in Cascade Colorado for 14 years. My husband and I moved into this house when we married in 2007, and this is where we raised our four daughters. It's an old house, and it has been a labor of love updating it as much as we could over the years. As heartbreaking as it was to leave this place, we decided to venture out to the coast to experience beach life. We still come back from time to time but we want to share the happiness of a place in the mountains with others. This home has been filled with love and laughter all these years, and we hope it continues to be filled with life and happiness even while we are away. Please enjoy this place as much as we do!
Why they chose this property
Need some fresh air? Peace? This is the perfect escape from the bustle of the city while still being conveniently central to Manitou Springs, Colorado Springs and Woodland Park. The drive up the mountain pass is beautiful, and in 14 years there wasn't a day that I didn't love my drive home. When you turn into the tiny hillside neighborhood of Cascade you realize you've discovered a hidden gem. Our property is up on the mountainside with great views of the Pike's Peak National Forest. We love the feel of being lost in the mountains where it is so peaceful, but we are still so close to all of the amenities of the city of Colorado Springs. Our closest town is quaint, historic Manitou Springs, where you can enjoy shops, restaurants and the famous penny arcade. If you're up for a challenge, try walking up the Manitou Incline! Continue up the pass to Woodland Park and you'll find the city above the clouds and Rampart Range Reservoir, a great place for hiking, kayaking and fishing. Our property is just minutes from the base of Pike's Peak, which you can drive up to and even stop at the recreation areas for picnicing or kayaking at the lakes on the way. Or take a day hike up to the top of Pike's Peak via Barr Trail! We are also within five minutes of the North Pole Colorado Santa's Workshop amusement park which is fun for all ages. The highest ferris wheel in the world can be seen from our house. With Garden of the Gods, Manitou Cliff Dwellings, Cave of the Winds, Pike's Peak and plenty of hiking trails all around, you can easily adventure all day and then return to a quiet neighborhood to kick back and relax. Please feel free to ask me about any of these attractions, I have done them all with babies on my back and children of every age and have even led playgroups. This is a fun area for families to explore. Colorado boasts of some incredible places, and you may not have heard of Cascade, but we think it's a little gem worth visiting, and a dear place in our hearts.
What makes this property unique
The first time I walked into this house I loved the huge windows bringing in light and of course providing an incredible view of the mountains. My favorite part is the deck. The view is breathtaking. Even before we officially moved in I drove up on my lunch breaks to sit on the deck and escape it all for a bit. Relax. Breathe. You wouldn't believe how quiet it is, especially at night. Everyone who visits says how much they enjoy sitting on the deck for a peaceful morning coffee, or to take in the afternoon sun, or to unwind at the end of the day and look at the stars. The beautiful bar in the kitchen is handmade by my late father in law from beetle-killed pine found on his property here in Cascade. It is 13 years old now and has shrunk a bit so watch out for things rolling off! I love how spacious the house is, plenty of room for yoga, and the big carpeted living room downstairs is fun for laying out blankets for family movie night. The backyard is kind of a wild mountain yard these days, plenty of space to run around. Our kids would tell you that the best part is the in-ground trampoline. The bedrooms on the lower level are nice and cool. I love the mountain view out of the bedroom on the main level. There's nothing like waking up to a beautiful blue Colorado sky with the sun shining on the mountains!
