About this property

Quirky Comfort in the Mountains!

Enjoy a family-friendly, unique experience at this 1940's cabin up among the stars in Bryson City. A lot of love has been put into restoring this beauty into her ole' self and altho she's not perfect, we want to share her glory with our friends and guests. If you like kick back comfort after a long day of trails and sightseeing, reserve some time off at the Hibernation Station.

The cabin is built on an acre of land with views of the mountains and blooming magnolia trees during summer.

The space:
The rustic interior with logs lining the walls and a roaring fireplace creates a cozy and inviting atmosphere at this vacation rental. The fully stocked kitchen, stocked with pots, pans, and spices, is a great feature for guests who enjoy cooking and dining in. The counter and dining seating for 7 allows families and groups to comfortably enjoy meals together.

The third bedroom suite with a private entrance is a thoughtful addition, as it provides privacy for in-laws or young couples who may want their own space. The kitchenette within the third bedroom is also a great convenience, allowing guests in that room to prepare their own meals and snacks if they wish. Coffee is available to enjoy from your bed as you watch the sun rise.

It's important to note that there is no dishwasher, which may be a consideration for guests who prefer not to do dishes by hand. However, the fully stocked kitchen and other amenities make up for this limitation.

Overall, this vacation rental is a great option for families or groups who want to enjoy a rustic and cozy atmosphere while still having modern conveniences like a stocked kitchen and separate sleeping areas.

The addition of a wood deck with a 180 degree view of the mountains is a fantastic feature for guests staying at this vacation rental. The ability to enjoy the outdoors and the stunning view from the privacy of their own backyard is a great selling point.

The fact that the deck was built in place of an enclosed porch suggests that the hosts are attentive to their guests' needs and willing to make improvements to enhance the vacation experience. The addition of lights means that guests can enjoy the deck even after the sun goes down, which is another thoughtful detail.

Overall, the deck with its stunning view and added amenities is a great feature that sets this vacation rental apart and provides guests with an even more enjoyable and memorable stay.

Guest access:
Guests have the entire acre - no place is off limits! Roam the property!

Other things to note:
Bedroom ceiling and doorways are below 8' high, back in the 1900’s many homes in this region were built this way to keep the heat in the rooms as cold temperatures were the norms in the winter. This may be a consideration for tall guests.

Note: the home definitely has some imperfections because of its age, ie the floors have settled in some areas. Our ‘old glory’ will never be 100% she’s 83 yrs old! We’d like our future guests to know the place is roomy and quite adequate for 6 guests comfortably.

Great Place to stay, convenient to Cherokee, Bryson City, hiking!
Wonderful place with all the amenities you need for a short or long stay. Owner was very responsive, and wanted to make sure we had a great stay. minutes away from the really cute town of Bryson City, with a lot to do. 15 to 20 min from Cherokee, we were able to get transport to and from the casino. Big fenced in yard, perfect for the pups. Just a few miles from the Smoky Mountain National Park, and did some great trail running and hiking. It was wonderful to make dinner, and hang out by the fireplace after all the activities of the day. Highly recommended, especially for the price.

Rustic Lodge
Property was clean and inviting. Access to the house was easy. One bathroom did not have a door, only beads hanging which was a concern. The kitchen has plenty of dishes and cookware for use. Master bathroom shower floor had a crack, but owner stated it was fine to use. Location was a few minutes from downtown which was nice.

Thanksgiving weekend Vacation
I have a lot to be thankful for this year and staying the weekend in the cabin in the mountains was definitely a blessing. It was just what we needed.. Everything was perfect and we felt like it was home. We couldn’t ask for a better experience.

Good
Overall we had a wonderfull stay. Patty was very easy to contact and communicate with. There were some quirks at the house like no doorknob on the back bedroom and the bathroom door in the front hall was only a beaded curtain (no one in our party was comfortable using it). Would also recommend buying some oven mits, pot holders, and a tea kettle, as well as a plunger.

Host profile image
I love hosting and meeting new people from all over the world! As a business woman my work includes creating small businesses from scratch up (mostly run down houses). I have been hosting since 2016 all across the Carolinas. Wilmington is home for me, but I do enjoy breathing the fresh air of the Smoky Mountains and dining al Fresco on Main Street in downtown Bryson City!

Why they chose this property

This is a 1940's property with many unique features that has been stripped down to it's original glory in mind. Although not perfect, the cabin is a wonderful space for families and friends to gather and eat, laugh, drink and enjoy each other.
The location is perfect with a one mile radius to many places including the famous Great Smoky Railroad Train that travels throughout the gorge and mountains.

What makes this property unique

Some of the unique benefits of the cabin are the interior log walls, cathedral ceilings, cabin fans, as well as very separate bedroom areas. Each of the 3 sleeping areas are off and to themselves allowing for great privacy. The third bedroom is like an efficiency apartment with a kitchenette setup complete for small cooking, fridge and microwave. Also includes a separate entrance with porch.
