About this property
Magical & Spooky Mirror House in the forest
The Mirror house is located on a small hill, about 1/4 mile into a 30 acre, forested property. It is entirely off-grid (no electric, has an outhouse) but has a powerful propane stove inside and is insulated for very cozy winter stays. The bed is Queen, fully made. The house is covered floor to ceiling with framed mirrors and decorated with unusual, spooky items- in the afternoon rainbows abound from the hanging crystals. There is a fire pit, and drinking water inside. Shower available May-Sept.
The space
This space is very private and away from our house, which is also on the property, and also well-distanced from our other Yurt rental on the other side of the property. Both have their own out-houses, trails, and amenities. We have 30 acres and lots of walking paths right on the land for relaxing or for your dogs to explore freely. Guests are encouraged to walk, build cairns's, build campfires in the provided spaces, and earth-friendly art supplies are provided upon request (please let us know ahead of time if you'd like some crafts provided) in the rental if you want to make outdoor art installations. It's a lovely spot to stay and take advantage of all of the activities on offer in the White Mountain area, or to cozy up around a campfire and unplug for a few days in seclusion.
There are some lawn chairs outside as well as fire pit (If you want to cook on the fire pit, that's welcome, but please bring a camp stove if you'd like something more and utensils, either way). The Mirror House is .2 miles into the woods, on top of a hill, so, you'll can relax in the quiet and beauty of the White Mountain area.
The shower (available May-Sept) is located at the parking area in a small wooden building that included another compost toilet. You’ll have to walk out from the tiny house to use it. It does have hot water and great pressure.
A medium walk and intermediate hike (the first part is a steep-ish hill with a well worn trail) to the space required, very easy for backpacker's or those accustomed to outdoor activities. The house is available in the Winter as well and is heated and insulated. For those who would like to snowshoe out- we can provide snowshoes to you, or if you are in the area for the many snowmobile trails, you're welcome to snowmobile to the location (on your own snowmobile. Many come to this area with their outdoor vehicle trailers for the trails, but we don't provide the vehicle).
In winter we can provide a sled (and an extra hand if desired) to help you bring out your items. If you'd like to have a fire, you'll need to bring or forage your own firewood.
You likely won't have cell service here (Verizon), though some do (Any other service provider). Wifi is only accessible from the trail entrance or upper parking area. For a lot of people, this is a welcome break from the world.
The outhouse is a few yards from the Mirror House and we keep it as clean as possible. It is newly built, wooden, and rustic. The entrance faces away from the house, enjoy the view of the forest while you sit!
Guest access
All of the uninhabited areas of the 30 acre property, the shared shower at the front by the driveway from May-until the end of September, the driveway.
Other things to note
There are two soft-light solar lanterns that will help you get around inside, but you'll need additional light. If you have headlamps, bring them along or regular flashlights will do.
Please take your trash with you when you leave.
Be sure to keep your food inside at night, as we do have bears and other curious critters.
Also be respectful of other guests and their spaces when hiking the property. Though there is a lot of space, and you won't likely run into anyway, please be aware that there might be other folks in the Yurt or on the trail.
There is a queen bed inside. Upon request we have a pack n' play available for infants and toddlers, but be warned there will not be much room leftover.
Please note, again, there is no electricity. This also means there is no air conditioning. There are two large windows but you are subject to the temperature of the season unless it’s cold enough to turn on heat. Most of the time, it’s great, it stays cool inside- but occasionally New Hampshire does have very hot weather. Please plan in summer as though you will not have air con. I know it’s silly to have to say, but we can’t do anything about the weather!
Also, understand that we're homesteaders and currently building a retreat center. While the yard and garage may look like a work in progress at times, and there will be tools and chickens around when you arrive- we make sure that the rental gets the rest of our attentions and remains clean and cute.
Please be aware that starting in May, until the end of October, The Rock Pile Motorsport Park is open from 10-5pm Saturdays and Sunday's (and occasionally Wednesdays). Proximity means that the sound of the bikes are often audible in the surrounding areas during open hours. Less so in the forest, but please take note. There’s nothing we can do about the sounds of outdoor sports in Warren.
