About this property

Tranquil country home retreat in Maine.

Comfort awaits in this 3000+ sq. ft. country home. Hilltop is located close to wedding venues, colleges, and fairgrounds making it an ideal space to stay, visit, and relax while attending family events and area festivities. Hilltop offers a great base for exploring nearby mountain and lake adventures. Cross country skiing, snowshoeing, and casual woods walks are right outside the door, while exciting downhill skiing, spectacular mountain hikes, kayaking, canoeing, and rafting are all within an hour's drive. Hilltop also has close proximity to many local agricultural and artisan activities. It is an ideal space to rest and relax while attending events, visiting family and friends, and exploring all that Maine has to offer.

Hilltop features antique furnishings, artwork, a cozy cherrywood library, and a well equipped kitchen. Guests can enjoy a peaceful view overlooking a blueberry field and distant rolling hills from a screened in porch, sunroom, or outdoor patio. Let Hilltop be your place to unwind during your stay.

The space
Guests can enjoy a spacious outdoor patio overlooking distant hills. On chilly days, a gas fireplace in the great room creates a warm and cozy atmosphere. The library can be a place of quiet refuge or a space for playing board games, cards, or making puzzles, many of which are provided. The library can be made into a private bedroom for one by closing the french doors and opening the sofa bed.
Morning coffee or tea in the sunroom is a great way to begin the day.

Guest access
Guests have access to the entire living areas of the house, excluding the attic that can only be accessed from the attached garage.

In wintertime, if the snow allows, guests can access cross country ski trails right from the yard. In warmer seasons, the patio and yard are well suited for small get togethers with family and friends with space enough for croquet or other yard games.

Other things to note
Hilltop is ideal for older guest as excluding the extra upstairs bed/sitting room, all areas are on a single floor. The master bathroom features a walk-in shower with a seat. All openings between rooms will accommodate a walker or wheelchair if needed.

Because of openings from the upper sitting room that look into the main living room and high stone wall drop-offs, the property is not safe or suitable for children.

Home away from home
This property is warm, welcoming, and has everything anyone could ask for in a vacation property. It’s very private. Bed was fantastic and pillows amazing We would definitely stay there again if in the area

What a lovely house!
We absolutely loved our stay here! The house was clean and there was more than enough room for five adults and two children. The house was easy to find and close to the fair grounds. Nicole was very accommodating and made sure there were enough beds made up for everyone. Honestly we can't say enough good things about this house. We're already looking forward to renting it next September.

Our Hilltop property is located on our hillside family homestead where we have an extensive organic vegetable gardens, a blueberry field, woodland trails, small fruit orchard, and our happy laying hens. We have been here on this land for 40+ years and remain nearby to assist guests in whatever way we can during their stay.

Why they chose this property

Our rural neighborhood is quiet with families who have lived here for generations. We feel safe among our neighbors. It is a great place to take long walks uninterrupted by traffic.
