Casa Incantata is an old house, typical for the area. We have restored it in a respectful way so it has kept its character. Beautiful views against the Ionian sea og great surondings with olive trees. In the countryside. The location is airy and calm. The bedrooms are scattered around in tree different houses. In the main house, with a sofa bed for children, in the old garage and a converted henhouse. All bedrooms have a little bathroom and toilet.

Perfect little paradise

Fantstic house in the gorgeous Caporotono area close to Pisticci, 25 minutes from the beach. The accomodation exists of a main house (kitchen, living room, master bedroom) and two smaller units (both double bedrooms with their own entrance and private bathroom). Two outside showers and a lovely garden with a large covered terrace. The whole accomodation is beautifully designed throughout, the kitchen is fully equipped with all basics (oil, vinegar, salt, etc) provided. It's close to the main road (from Pisticci to the motorway/beach) but still we felt totally secluded in our private little paradise. Excellent check in by local Mariagrazia (who was on hand for questions and trouble shooting). All in all a perfect house in a great location, we couldn't have wanted more, we were completely happy there, sorry we had to leave, hoping we will one day come back.

A getaway in the truest sense of the word

A bunch of friends took this for a quiet week away from it all so we could hang out after not seeing each other for 3 years. It was, indeed, “away”. In the best way. Fantastic old farmhouse with lots of wood and stone; that may not be for everyone. But the kitchen is well-kitted (only missing a toaster, unless we missed it), it has screens on the doors (bless!), great outdoor space and an orchard! I gave the “location” a 3 because it’s a 1 if you’re looking to do “stuff” but a 5 if you’re looking to relax and do a little side trip every so often. Matera, Craco, Tinchi, Policoro, all close, and Basilicata is just crammed with hidden gems. A really cool, historic region. A car is a must. Sadly we didn’t use the outside spaces more during the day as our vacation ran smack into a heat wave (40-44 every day) but it wasn’t so bad once we found the closest beach. 20 minute-drive. We’d go back.

We are a Norwegian couple who came here for about 10 years ago and we fell in love with this strange part of Italy. All the high mountains, the beautiful sea, no stress with lots of tourists. We love to visit all the small villages in the mountains, do walks in the Pollino National park. Taste the simple but wonderful food. Pick truffles in the mountains and also along the coastline. The water in the sea is warm and the beaches are sandy and not so crowded. Eva is in charge with the olives and fruit, and thats why she often is in Pisticci to do some work, get away from the Norwegian winters and stay outside to organize whatever is needed to maintain the property.

Why they chose this property

The neighborhood is quiet and peaceful. We have some wonderful l neighbors who looks after the house when we are not here. The views from the house are stunning, against the mountains and down to the see. In between this -wonderfull olivegroves, chestnut -and lemontrees.

What makes this property unique

Casa Incantata is a very old traditional Pisticci house. We have kept the structure and restored it in a respectful way. The house is situated between the sea and the mountains. This brings cooling winds up to the house. There are beautiful surrondings with lots of fruittrees, olivetrees on the property.
