Riverfront! Pet-Friendly A-Frame Cabin - 25min to Sierra @ Tahoe
Welcome to Redwing River Cabin! Our mid-century retreat with private beach runs along the American River off HWY 50. Suitable for all seasons but backyard river-lounging in the warmer months may take the cake. 25 minutes from Sierra at Tahoe and 40 minutes to Heavenly in South Lake Tahoe for you skiers + boarders. After pouring our heart and soul into this home, we hope the property draws the same emotional response from you all as it does for us!
Our cozy A-frame cabin welcomes guests of all ages to this forested riverfront getaway. Our 3-bedroom, 1.5-bath abode can sleep up to six adults on five beds (children under 6 do not count towards the total occupancy). The thoughtful, modern touches combed together with the classic cabin feel make this a warm yet upscale experience.
Great space for a family, groups of friends, or couples looking for a wooded river reprieve outside life’s daily bustle. Pets are more than welcome ($50 per pet per trip) -- it's our pup's favorite place in the whole wide world. Perfect for summertime lounging in the river, hot cups of coffee on our wraparound deck in the winter and everything in between! Pour yourself a dram from the bar cart and cozy up next to the fireplace.
OUTDOORS: Direct river access and a private, flat beach. Outside of the summer months, the river runs around a frigid 50-55°, perfect for a cold plunge! Inside the summer months? You won't want to leave the water. Rafts and cornhole for your quintessential river day. Weber gas grill on main deck. Riverside wraparound deck off the main living level. River-level deck off the basement door and an upstairs balcony off the primary bedroom for great coffee views. A fourth, front deck can act as a secondary entry in the slippery winter months and becomes a sun-drenched oasis in the summer. Pathway to the river can be a bit steep and may be difficult to access for elderly and mobility impaired individuals.
We also provide fishing poles for those that enjoy casting a line straight from our private beach. Come catch Rainbow Trout along the American River!
COMMON AREAS: Wood-burning fireplace and brand new forced heat throughout. Nest thermostat. Currently, we do not have AC. Dining table for 6, expandable with leaf to 8-10. (You may host non-sleeping guests between the hours of 8am - 10pm). Washer and dryer.
KITCHEN: Fully equipped, open kitchen with stainless steel appliances, ceramic cookware, and a plethora of seasonings. Perfect for people who love to travel and cook! (i.e.: your hosts!) Gas range and industrial range hood. Built-in fridge and bottom freezer with ice maker. Filtered water on tap. Dishwasher and garbage disposal. Drip coffee maker and kettle. Dishware, family-style serving pieces, and a variety of glassware. Children's dinnerware set. Everything you need to cook and host a great meal! We do recommend guests stop at a grocer or get takeout in Placerville or Pollock Pines as there are limited dining options nearby. There is a brand new cafe + coffee shop a 5 minute walk from the cabin, as well as an Asian American diner less than a mile away.
ENTERTAINMENT: ATT Internet Air Wi-Fi and a Samsung Smart TV, equipped with Chromecast for your modern needs. Projector and projector screen in the "kid's" bedroom. BEATS Bluetooth speaker. This was by far one of the best VRBO's that I have stayed in. Being right on the river was such an amazing experience. The cabin was clean. It had everything you needed and more. Communication with the owner was easy and he was quick to respond. So much good to say...it was just perfect.
My wife and I stayed 3 nights with our dog at this cabin in Kayburz. We got there just in time for the first big snow of the season so we got to see the transformation from beautiful forest landscape to snow covered trees and mountains. The cabin was perfect for getting snowed in. The fireplace, the well supplied kitchen, the bed, the patio -- all 10/10. Highly recommend staying here if you can. It would be great for any season. Thanks for having us!
We were looking for a place for a relaxing week away, and this cabin was perfect. Not only is the cabin itself pretty much the cabin of my dreams, but the location on the river, and far enough away from just about anything was wonderful. The little touches throughout were also just lovely. Thank you to Cody for the great, friendly communication before during and after the stay. Ten out of ten for the whole experience!
Redwing Cabin is a great get-away! We enjoyed our stay very much. It would be beneficial to visitors to know about the amount of stairs involved in getting to the cabin and to the river. We had a few elderly guests and the stairs proved a bit difficult. The indoor stairs were no problem. All in all a great retreat!
Our overall opinion of this place is definitely a 10/10. From the location to the home to even the neighbors. The space was very thought out and the quality of each towel, cutlery, blanket, table and chairs were so top notch it truly was a bonus.
The balcony was an amazing place we loved to enjoy each other and the ease of walking to the river was worth every penny. Thank you for sharing your home with us.
The phone was so well equipped. I didn’t need to bring half the stuff. If there are some stairs to negotiate that’s for sure, but overall the unit uses very quality items and a mini bar was a pleasant surprise. Thank you.
Lovely stay. Great location at the base of south lake so we did get some snow, just enough for kids to play. River was flowing fast this April and we hope to come back when it warms up to take advantage of the outdoors, sipping wine and relaxing by the water. House is stocked with enough amenities to cook meals and the store is not far. Only thing I would state is the walk down to the door or river is steep, so take your time.Elderly, bad knee or small children might have trouble when it snows. Entrance
The perfect blend of rustic coziness and modern amenities. This cabin has everything you need for a relaxing mountain stay. Excellent access to the river. Definitely folks should be aware that the river access is via 2 story stair decent/climb. To cabin from road is additional 1 story. Excellent exercise if that’s your thing but potentially daunting if not. Love that there is a bathroom on both levels. We are kid-free but I’m sure the kiddos would love that there is a projector & pull down screen in the 2nd bedroom upstairs. Love the mid-century furniture, eclectic details, and sharp knives in the kitchen. Highly recommend.
I came here with some friends and was looking for a place that suits so but near South Lake Tahoe. I came across this property and with the images, price, amenities, local it was a no brainer that we had to book. Everything you see in the images is accurate. This place was perfect and more. We did not take enough pictures because we were enjoying everyones company. Everyone slept well. We talked about coming back again for another snow trip to tahoe or even in the summer to hang by the river. The host was also very responsive which helped soo much! Thank you for an amazing experience.
What a dream the Redwing cabin is! We could not have asked for anything better than what we got during our 4 day stay. The location is magical, with the American River running through the back yard. The kitchen and all the amenities are modern and they have all the kitchen things that you need. The cabin was super clean and my standards for cleanliness are high. The beds are memory foam and super comfortable. The fire place kept us warm and cozy and the hot water in the shower was never ending which was fantastic after a day in the snow. The balcony was the perfect place to enjoy your coffee in the morning or to just sit and be quiet and listen to the river. Best part is we got to bring our doggy girl with us. The cabin location is super convenient to enjoy other activities in the surrounding areas. We took a day trip to the snow that was about 25 minutes away. We cannot wait to come back in the summer to spend more time relaxing here.

Hi All! My name is Rhys, I'm a longtime hospitality professional with a passion for hosting. This cabin has been a refuge away from the bustling stressors of the city. We hope you enjoy the thoughtful touches we've put on the space for you and your family to enjoy.
Why they chose this property
Hidden gem outside of the hustle and bustle of South Lake Tahoe. The water, of course. The trees. The air. The incredibly friendly neighbors.
What makes this property unique
The thought and effort we personally put in, and continue to put in, to make this the best property it can be. And the water, of course. We are constantly making upgrades (new furnace and river-level deck this fall) on top of the many months it took to personally transform this mid-century cabin into the home you see today.
