And... relax. The Lookout is the perfect blend of a beautiful, rural countryside stay with stunning views and all the modern amenities you need at your fingertips.
Only 25 minutes to Stowe Mountain Resort, 45 minutes to Smuggler's Notch, and 50 minutes to Jay Peak for all your summer fun or skiing winter activities. Right across the street from the beloved 300 mile Catamount cross country ski trail, down the road from a great hike on Elmore Mountain, and minutes away from Lake Elmore and Moss Glen Falls for swimming, kayaking, and other water activities.
Enter into the recently added mudroom with ample storage and room to kick off your boots after cross country skiing the Catamount Trail across the street, hiking nearby Elmore Mountain, or exploring the trails in the backyard. Off the mudroom, you’ll find a private den with a dedicated workspace and beautiful couch with a memory foam full bed for two. Hi-speed wifi so work calls are no worries. Close the beautiful custom barn door made by a local Vermont craftsman for privacy for work calls or sleeping at night. Off the den, you’ll find a powder room and laundry closet with a washer and dryer.
Head upstairs to the large, open living room and kitchen, bathed in sunlight at all hours of the day. Off the living room, you’ll find two sliders to the brand new second floor deck and a Stuv wood stove for chilly nights. From this room, you’ll have absolutely stunning views of the 24 acre property out back (which is yours to explore!), Mt Mansfield aka Stowe Mountain Resort (where you can watch skiiers rip down the mountain or hikers climb up through your binoculars!), and a local farm to the right where you can sometimes hear the cows in the morning. Wake up in the morning with a coffee after grabbing some from local VT roasters The Roastery and watch beautiful sunsets over the mountains on the deck in the evenings. Grab some local beef or meat from the farm right next door (5 min walk) and cook a delicious meal in the fully stocked kitchen, with Caraway pots and pans, plateware from CB2, new appliances, and more. The table and bench nook in the kitchen were also designed by us and custom made by a local VT carpenter.
Relax in a bath or take a rain shower under the clouds in the new spa-like bathroom. Down the hall, you’ll find two equal sized bedrooms, each equipped with a luxuriously comfortable queen Casper bed and Brooklinen linens. In one bedroom, you’ll find a secretary desk for an additional workspace.
At The Lookout, nature abounds. Star gaze at night with some of the most crystal clear, beautiful night skies you’ll ever experience. Wander the property along two brooks for a late day or early morning walk or snowshoe. Enjoy a glass of wine in the Adirondacks or have a picnic by the pond. In warmer months, roast some marshmallows at the fire pit, swing in the hammock, or grill a local meal on the upstairs deck. Take a walk to purchase both local meats and cheeses or a drive down the road to a local distillery or golf course. Tons of activities for all seasons in the area – cross country skiing, skiing, snowmobiling, hiking, as well as waterfalls and swimming holes. 10 minutes from nearby Lake Elmore for kayaking, boating, and more.
A few notes:
-Home is private and the land is yours to use. Note there is a sometimes occupied 1810 farmhouse also located on the property.
-The property is on a rural dirt road. During winter and early spring, they can get pretty muddy and potholes can be common. While all wheel/4WD is always great for VT, specifically during these times, we recommend 4WD vehicles.
-The pond is beautiful and peaceful, but is not swimmable at this time. There are lots of local watering holes nearby, as well as Lake Elmore.
