A gorgeous secure, gated and tranquil development. The penthouse has park views from your terrace. Just a 6-minute walk to a large supermarket, plus restaurants and shops, yet you can relax to the sound of birdsong here! Only a 10-minute walk to the beach or a couple of minutes by car! There are 2 swimming pools, with showers and toilets near the pool. It's a 17-minute walk to Duquesa Port / Marina with a wide selection of bars, cafés and restaurants of local and international cuisines.

Un magnífico desarrollo seguro, cerrado y tranquilo. El ático tiene vistas al parque desde su terraza. ¡A sólo 6 minutos a pie de un gran supermercado, además de restaurantes y tiendas, sin embargo, usted puede relajarse con el sonido del canto de los pájaros aquí! A sólo 10 minutos andando de la playa o a un par de minutos en coche. Hay 2 piscinas, con duchas y aseos cerca de la piscina. Está a 17 minutos a pie del puerto Duquesa / Marina con una amplia selección de bares y restaurantes de cocina local e internacional.

We first appreciated their responsiveness as we were able to finalize our reservation on the same day as our arrival. The residence is very well maintained with a swimming pool and green spaces with little attendance even in August. For the apartment, we received a complete guide by email from our host explaining how the entire apartment works (we would have settled there for life very willingly). A beautiful terrace is available, part of which is covered. The kitchen is very functional and well equipped, we prepared good dishes thanks to the oven. Walking distance to the beach is a 12-minute walk away. Close to the property, several restaurants and bars as well as a supermarket. Need we say more than we recommend it 100%! Thank you Vinden"

One of the things we really love about our Spanish home is how it is away from, the bustle, yet we are just a few minutes walk to restaurants, a big supermarket, cafés, bars, chemists and other shops. The birdsong is wonderfully relaxing, so you truly feel you are on holiday, relaxing and de-stressing, but you’re not isolated and having to drive to everything you need. We love watching the swallows / swifts / house-martins (not sure which!) swooping around, it’s such a beautiful sight.

As we have a penthouse, you have the added tranquillity of no-one above you. There is a lift / elevator.

We had a really nice meal at the Italian restaurant ‘Paparazzi’, a 4-minute walk away. Their pizza Toni or chef’s pizza was fab and their spaghetti carbonara was excellent. Nice service.

The Nautilus gastro-bar on the opposite side of the road has friendly service and seems very popular with many different nationalities.

There is a choice of 2 large swimming pools in the development. The nearest one is ~ 10 yards / metres from the block our apartment is in! Umbrellas are already in situ and we provide sunbeds.

One feature of our newly purchased (April 2023) apartment that we particularly like is the ‘glass curtains’ (frameless, fully retractable, sliding glass panels) on the terrace. They create a wonderfully warm outside space for the winter or for cooler evenings in spring and autumn. We have a dining table and 4 chairs in that space. There is an awning that can be extended to shelter you from the sun. Strap the glass curtains open and you have a wonderful outside entertaining and relaxing space.

Adjacent to that is an outside seating area to have a glass of something and read a book, or enjoy the last rays of the sun. There’s an awning here too. Much needed sometimes!

There is also a dining table and 4 chairs in the living room.

We have a very effective air-conditioning and heating system that is so quiet you aren’t always sure it’s on, except for the fact that you are at a comfortable temperature!

The lovely marina / port, Puerto de la Duquesa is a 3-4 minute drive or a 15-17 minute walk. It’s a pretty easy walk back too, with only a very gentle incline to our community. We rented in a complex higher up the hill a previous year. The 30-minute walk down was fine, but we found it a bit of a struggle walking back up! The port has a very wide choice of restaurants, ranging from the expected Spanish, to Mediterranean in general, Mexican, Indian, Asian, Italian, International, Portuguese, Belgian, British, Irish, to Chinese & Thai. Lots of bars and cafés for people-watching too. You can also take fishing trips from the port or boat excursions to gaze at the luxury boats in Puerto Banus marina.

The nearest supermarket is Mercadona, a Spanish supermarket chain and is a mere 6-minute walk away! Dia is a Spanish supermarket 5 minutes away by car; German-owned Lidl is a 4-minute car journey. Mercadona is a fairly good size, but if you want more choice, there is a very good French store, a Carrefour hypermarket 16 minutes away in Estepona by car. So, as you can see, you'll be spoiled for a choice of food and wines and international supermarkets!

As far as home-based entertainment goes, we have a large smart TV with Spanish TV, Netflix and Amazon Prime apps for you to use your subscriptions and an app that provides TV and movies / films from around the world, so you should have no problem being entertained in your mother tongue…. This international TV app was installed just before we left the property to return home, but from playing with it briefly, programmes are available from the UK, Spain, Portugal, Germany, elsewhere in Europe and all around the world!

The Internet is a pretty decent speed (~ 300 Mbps when we were there in April) and downloads are unlimited, as you would expect.

If you like to play golf, you’ll be pleased to know that there are tons of golf courses in the area! Plenty of variety ranging from Marbella (39 minutes to the golf / country club) to Sotogrande (19 minutes to La Reserva Club, voted one of the best 12 resorts and courses in Spain!) or the nearest club, Doña Julia, is a mere 7 minutes away by car! We have 2 sets of golf clubs that you are welcome to use at no charge! Saves €25 or more per day!

Parking is in an allocated underground space in our secure, gated development. This keeps your car cool until you need it, a welcome bonus! There is additional parking directly outside the community. There are no fees to you for either of these.

The bed in the master bedroom is a very comfortable king size. In the second bedroom, there are 2 single beds, which can be put together to form a king-sized bed if preferred / needed. All bedding is supplied, as are bath towels for each guest. Pool / beach towels are also included. We provide deckchairs / sun-beds and beach umbrellas too.

The entire apartment is non-smoking, so you will have a lovely odour-free property for your holiday.

The apartment is a generous size (925 square feet / 86 square metres) and was recently opened up to be more open plan than the other apartments in the community, so it has a lovely light feel to it and an open flow.

The kitchen is fully equipped with a fridge-freezer, an induction hob, an oven, a microwave, a new (June 2023) Bosch dishwasher (who wants to do washing up on holiday?!), a slow cooker, food blender, all necessary cookware, utensils, glasses and crockery. Storage containers, food wrap and foil are also provided, as are dishwasher tablets and washing-up liquid. There’s also a Nescafé Dulce Gusto coffee-maker that takes pods. (The pods are recyclable in Mercadona.) There's also a cafetiere if you prefer ground coffee. We also provide a kettle, toaster, chopping boards and many kitchen knives. A Brita water filter and cartridge is also supplied.

A starter kit of soap, shampoo and shower gel is also provided.

Other nearby attractions include Sotogrande, Marbella and Puerto Banus, which is fun for people and car-watching. There’s also an excellent up-market department store called El Corte Ingles, which sells a wide variety of household goods, clothes, foods and high quality wines and has some nice restaurants. We recently had a lovely meal and wines in one near the wine shop. It’s a 29-minute drive from our apartment. Gibraltar and Malaga are around 44 minutes and 1 hour 15 respectively.

El alojamiento es tal y como se muestra. Tiene todas las comodidades que puedas necesitar. Muchos detalles y gran calidad del inmueble. Una terraza estupenda y la urbanización realmente tranquila y bien cuidada. El contacto con Vinden y Eve ha sido perfecto en todo momento y tanto la llegada como la salida con flexibilidad y magnífico trato.

Fabulous apartment and location
Very well presented apartment and kitted out with everything you could possibly require. A great location. Quiet, relaxed and very well maintained complex, with a 15 minute walk to the local port, where there are loads of fantastic restaurants. Excellent communications from owners and great support from the local agent. I would highly recommend this apartment.

My wife, Eve, and I are both British, but have lived in Singapore (Eve), Belgium, France, America (Boston (Vinden), Texas (Eve) and Florida), Spain & Portugal.

We love travelling, exploring new places, architecture, cultures and food.

Apart from getting our cultural fix in big cities, we also love walking in nature and exploring the countryside.

Currently, we live in Portugal, with our place in Spain being our winter home. We are busy renovating and remodelling our house in the Portuguese countryside. It’s very rural so the buzz of Estepona, Duquesa, Marbella and Puerto Banus makes a nice change.

We have enjoyed travelling using house-sitting to explore the world, looking after people’s pets including dogs, cats (we have 2 of our own now), horses, goats, chickens, ducks, donkeys and even snakes! We have done house-sits in Australia, Spain, France, Florida and California.

Eve loves cooking and I love eating the end-product! We both love eating out and trying a wide range of cuisines, many of which are available locally to our Spanish property.

Walking along the beaches is another favourite pastime, especially if followed by a selection of tapas and a delicious glass of Spanish wine!

If our photographs look familiar, you may have seen us on UK television's A Place In The Sun on Channel 4. We were in their Florida show. Look out for us to see what happened!

Why they chose this property

We were drawn to the Duquesa / Estepona reason for many reasons, including being near to the beaches and marinas. We love to walk along the beaches, and there’s always a good buzz at the marinas. There’s a satisfyingly wide range of restaurants of differing nationalities in the local marina, including Indian, Thai, Chinese, Belgian, Italian, British and International.

The area is delightfully cosmopolitan, with a wide variety of nationalities. It’s so different to the rural part of Portugal where we spend more of our time. It’s a nice to have the contrast.

The area around our penthouse is a wonderful balance: peaceful and calm, but with bars, restaurants and supermarkets only a few minutes away.

The proximity to Estepona is a great bonus. The old town is charming and again, very cosmopolitan with charming restaurants and a very good French hypermarket, Carrefour. The local authorities have made it really pretty with lots of flowers and pedestrian walkways.

The stylish department store El Corte Ingles is to be found in Marbella. Well worth a visit.

What makes this property unique

We chose our property in Spain for a selection of reasons, including the location. As mentioned, the location of our gorgeous penthouse is fantastic: peaceful and calm in a gorgeous gated community, with secure underground parking and nice swimming pools, but with bars, restaurants and supermarkets such as Mercadona only a few minutes walk away.

We are delighted that our property is a penthouse as it means that there are no sounds of people stomping around above us / you! Having lived in lower level apartments previously, this is a big bonus, trust us!

The so-called glass curtains are a bonus too, meaning we can eat on the terrace even during the winter. Plus if it is windy, we can shut the glass curtains and still enjoy the sunshine.

Car parking is included in the rent and we provide all necessary cooking appliances including a slow-cooker, all utensils, crockery, cutlery, beach chairs and towels, all linen and bathroom towels. A starter pack of dishwasher tablets, washing machine capsules, coffee pods, bottles of wine, beer and water are also provided. A washing machine & tumble-drier is also provided although clothes dry so quickly in the sun on the terrace, you may not need the drier. Really quiet air-conditioning is installed, which doubles as heating in the winter.

There are 2 bathrooms, so if both bedrooms are occupied, you have privacy, not having to share a bathroom.

World-wide TV is also provided so you can feel right at home!
