Spacious and comfortable home close to the pool, lake, beach and clubhouse. Our four-bedroom, three bathroom mountain home is perfect for a quiet weekend getaway or a family vacation--even with the extended family! The home offers three levels of living space and three levels of decks on half an acre, there is plenty of room for everyone.
The first floor offers a game room with pool table, card table and TV along with a large bedroom with 2 queen sized beds. Out back there is a rear deck with 5 person hot tub. The second floor there is an open kitchen, dining room and living room with vaulted ceiling and gas fireplace. Sliders lead you to a screened in porch and large open deck. Watch the wildlife all afternoon as the sun warm this area.
The master bedroom is also on the middle level and offers a full bath and sliders to the front deck.
The third floor has an open loft with a futon and two private bedrooms with queen sized beds. The front bedroom also offers sliders to a third floor deck. There is also a full bath on the third level.

Comfortable sleeping for up to 12 people: Five queen size beds in four bedrooms, double futon and convertible sofa in sleeping loft, and double futon in game room. Best of all, there are three full bathrooms!

About the Community: Towamensing Trails has a 190 acre lake with beach; pool; tennis, basketball, and volleyball courts; baseball field; and playground. During the summer, paddle boats can be rented. Fishing in the lake is allowed (fishing license required - lake is stocked). Private boats are permitted on the lake (no gas-powered boats). Funtastic year round!

*Owner doesn't rent to anyone under the age of 25.
*Renters to bring their own sheets and towels or a linen service is available for an additional fee.

Thanksgiving in the Poconos

Enjoyed the Thanksgiving Holiday in the Poconos with the family. Big change from the 80 degree weather we left in Florida. Looking forward to ski season and renting again. Hot tub was a big treat after turkey and stuffing.

Nice house

Beautiful house with an outbuilding. 4 balconies where you can spend time having breakfast or dinner admiring the evening stars and enjoying the fresh air. A 5-minute walk from the house is a lake and attractions where there was something for adults and children to do. Fishing, kayaking and much more. I recommend this house to everyone for a family vacation.

Cozy winter home away from home

Joe off the bat made the booking ,check in to check out experience hassle free.Any questions or concerns he was a text or phone away.Stores and gas station close by for your convenience. Fireplace comfort was a plus for us especially celebrating our Family Christmas 2nd time in the Poconos.We really enjoyed our holiday getaway as if home away from home comfort.Game room a bonus plus.

Good Experience

We enjoyed our stay. The property has some great amenities, like the pool table and jacuzzi. There is a lake and pool for area residents, unfortunately we were unable to use these due to our wristbands being accidentally thrown out by the previous guest. Property managers were very responsive, though they were unable to get us replacements. We settled for nearby activities, lakes, and parks, which were all great.

Filthy&disgusting - we refused to stay

This property was so filthy and disgusting we refused to stay. I’ve never seen anything like this. We immediately called VRBO. It would take me too long to describe all of the filth, the dirt, the disrepair, the disorganization and complete disaster this house was in when we got there. I have many many pictures to substantiate this. There weren’t even blankets or comforters, as claimed in the property description, for a WINTER rental. DO NOT RENT! Ever! If there was a way to post pictures, I would. Take my word for it. Don’t risk your health and safety by staying here.

Prior to this person's stay we did have an issue with our cleaning company and ended up replacing them. So the home may not have been as clean as it typically would have been. That said when this angry person called to complain I answered right away and offered to have someone come out right away. That was not good enough for this particular person so I gave her a full refund. I am disappointed with this site for allowing someone who did not stay at the house to post a factually inaccurate review like this. Of course there are blankets and pillows at the house. To say otherwise is a flat out lie. We ask guests to bring their own bed linens and towels, or we have a service to provide those but there are now and always have blankets and pillows available and provided. We work hard to provide our guests a clean and comfortable home and are very responsive if issues arise. It is regrettable that we had an issue with our cleaners prior to this stay but rest assured this is an exception and not typical for the house.

June 2020 review

My husband, son and I stayed here mid-June 2020. The property is conveniently located near Hickory Run State Park and is in a community with access to a lake, private beach, a pool and clubhouse. The beach and pool were only open on the weekend which was disappointing and not disclosed. The house could use some updating and new mattresses but overall served its purpose. We were only able to use the hot tub 1 night and noticed a musty smell while in it the first night. We immediately reported it to the property manager who provided us with troubleshooting tips. When those did not work we communicated again in which he had someone come out on the 3rd day. Upon arriving at the property on the 3rd evening the hot tub was not satisfactory to use. We communicated again with the manager and stated we planned on leaving a day early due to the burden of the hot tub issues. He offered to drain the tub and have it ready the next evening but at that point we restated we were done. We asked for our 1 nights stay back and addtional money to compensate for inability to use the hot tub as this was the primary reason we chose this property. Unfortunately, we were refunded only the 1 nights stay. Throughout our stay the property manager was communicative but just was unable to resolve the hot tub issue.

I am sorry that we were not able to accommodate your demands for more of a discount. I do want to point out that we did try to resolve the issue by not only draining and refilling the tub for you but also, offering you an additional night's stay or later check out along with the discount we provided but that was not acceptable to you. We know the hot tub is a main reason people choose to rent our home so we do our best to make sure it is clean and ready to use. I also want to point out that the tub was in fact cleaned prior to your stay but you said there was an odor that you objected to. In this situation our cleaner was out of town the first couple of nights of your stay so she made arrangements to send someone else over who tried their best but did not add the appropriate balance of chemicals to make it right. We pride ourselves on being available to communicate and willing to resolve issues as they arise during a guest's stay and I feel as though we did everything we could in this situation.

July 4 weekend with the family

House was good with a few things needing work and one thing I feel I was lied to about. Needs work….. Light bulbs when they burn out change them. Shade in the living room, replace it when it doesn’t work. Air Conditioners were portable, only 1 was properly hooked up the other 2 were pushing cold air out the front and hot air out the back, duct tape can only go so far. Plus who wants to be responsible for emptying the condensation buckets. Feeling lied too, the jetted tub in the main bedroom did not work, thru text message the owner told me they were replacing it. In a review from 4 years earlier found the same issue listed with the jetted tub. This was one of the main reasons I rented here, the tub looked like it hadn’t been used in a long time. It should be noted on the listing that it doesn’t work. Bedding and towels not provided, them a message that they are provided, followed by a message the day we leave that they are not provided. UPDATE your automatic messages. Mentions……. Takes the refrigerator about 36 hours to really get cold. The hot tub takes about 10 hours to get to temperature. Instruction can be found on You Tube. Soft floor near shower in 3rd floor bathroom. It needs attention. Not a bad place, small things matter. I have stayed in worse places. Not a high end type of guy. We enjoyed the pool and lake and each other on our trip. So it was good. Thank you to the owner for renting, just that jetted tub thing really stands out to me.

Nice little getaway

This property was perfect for my family and I. It was 30 mins from the outlets and additional shopping and was nice with the pool table and fireplace. Cute place for family or coupled friends.

From start to finish, the process was easy and carefree. Everything was explained very well. Constant communication with the homeowner put us at ease with any problems that may have arose. Our stay was great. Everything in the house worked great. It was clean. Plenty of supplies for cooking and cleaning. Just an overall great experience.

Unsafe and dirty

This house was filthy. My boyfriend and I stayed for a long weekend. This place is dirty, unsafe, and clearly a party house. The carpets were so gross I never took my shoes off, the furniture is so worn and uncomfortable. The smoke detectors are disconnected, there were daddy long leg spiders EVERYWHERE!! Webs with spider eggs in every corner and moths all thru the house, big and small. The chandelier above the dinning table is filled with dead bugs. If that’s not enough...we killed 3 German cockroaches in the kitchen and master bath. I could go on forever but basically, if your 25 and looking to party with some friends then this may be the place for you, if your anyone else do not rent this house. Had I showed up for this stay with my children I would have had to leave. I would not let them stay n such a unsafe and dirty place. Upon departure, I did notify the owner of the bugs and condition of the home. He seems shocked, “no one has mentioned this” he said. This rental has a high cleaning and I feel at the least I should Have been offered my cleaning fee back. This is an edited version of my intended review as VRBO has requested that I remove certain information....rather than investigating the property for themselves. I feel this shows poorly against VRBO as well.

I am sorry to hear of your experience. We try to provide a safe and clean property for our guests enjoyment. I have since notified our cleaning company and have been assured they have performed a deep cleaning and will be sure to do a better job moving forward. I was shocked to hear the claim about bugs in the house as no one before or since has mentioned anything like that. So I am a little suspicous of that. The review aslo mentions the home is unsafe but doesn't support that with any kind of example so I have no idea what that could be referring to. I too am disappointed in the site for allowing unsubstantiated claims by a person who admits they are upset because they didn't get a discount to be published on the site. The home is a spacious home that is made to entertain larger groups at a reasonable price. If you are a couple who is looking for a cozy mountain chalet, this is probably not your best option. However, if your are looking for a nice place for friends, couples or extended family, I assure you the home is clean and comfortable and ready for an enjoyable stay.

Nice place but NEEDS updating

Few things need to be taken care of... 1 - the AC unit in the master bedroom drains into a 5 gallon bucket and needs to be dumped at least twice a day or the floor gets soaked. 2 - the bath tub in the master bedroom leaks bad, as in the faucet itself falls off, so you can't use it. 3 - both gas grills just need to be replaced. One has tin pans on the bottom just for charcoal and the actual gas one is so rusted that the 3 fingers aren't even connected and it only flares up just in the front. 4 - the couch in the billard room has a rip in it and is covered by a pillow.

Plenty of room for a large family.

We loved the location and there was plenty of room for all 8 of us. We were disappointed that a lot of things werent working or in poor condition. Upon getting there the screens to the porch were hanging off because the duct tape that was used to hold then there was falling off. There were two grills that seem to have never been cleaned, one which was leaking gas. Half the lights werent working in the house and locks on the bathrooms didnt work. The whirlpool tub faucet leaked and unless you hold it down the water ran onto the floor. There was just a lot of things that have been neglected that could be easily fixed. And when checkout day came we were never given any instructions on what to do. We had a wonderful vacation but we just wished things were more tidy and working for the amount of money we paid.

Fine, but just fine. Not the best rental.

We booked this house solely for the hot tub, and the one in the property currently is not the same one in the listing pictures. We had a hard time getting the temperature set the first night, but the property owner didn’t hesitate to call and talk us through it. We really appreciated his open communication and do recommend his service. Even with his directions, we couldn’t turn off the waterfall feature in the tub, so it wasn’t as relaxing as we hoped. Inside, the house was cleaned, but it is in desperate need of some TLC. There wasn’t a comfortable spot to sit in the couch as all of the couches, chairs, and mattresses are old and shot. Some of the couches were even ripped with the stuffing coming out. The beds were all flat as boards, so thankfully for just the 2 of us, my husband and I had our choice to find the lesser of all the evils. The paint on the walls was chipped and peeling in more than one spot, some of the rugs were ripped, the sink in the master bathroom was cracked, etc. Overall it seemed like no one has put any effort into the house since the late 80s. The size and space have potential to be an awesome spot, but as is, it really falls short.

Great Spacious House

We just got back from a mid week stay. We had a decent size group. The house is laid out great with many spacious areas indoor and outdoors to give everyone room. The lower lever was ideal for our teeenagers to hang out and sleep, pool table, hot tub and large bedroom!. Joe the owner was very receptive and quick to any questions I had from booking through staying. Great central location of house as well. The only thing I would add is more cooking supplies. Thanks again for an awesome week.

Lots of room for the family - lots of pros / few cons

This was a spacious property and convenient having bedrooms spread out over three floors as it allowed us to put teenagers on one floor and smaller children on upper floor. Each appreciates their privacy. The property certainly met our needs, had a nice size table for game nights, fully functional kitchen to cook family meals. Fireplace was wonderful and kids enjoyed watching the deer from the back door. As mentioned there are some cons: - Don’t know who their cleaning service is but every pot, bowl, plate we pulled from the cabinet was nasty like they had put up dirty dishes. We finally we through and just washed everything. When the snow started melting we noticed the porch was full of cigarette butts from prior tenants. This was pretty gross for us and we could not let the small kids go out on the porch due to nasty cigarette butts. - DOSE NOT COME WITH LINENS OR TOWELS! Would have been nice to know earlier as we flew in from Texas and did not pack these items. Upon arrival at 10:00 we had to make a Walmart run to get linens and towels. On her lighter advice that they had a linen service we could rent from but the cost was substantially higher than what we paid to purchase the items. - The furniture is pretty worn out! The beds are the hardest beds I have ever slept on. The sofa downstairs on the first level is torn and the upholstery sofa on the second level is just worn down. Great for napping but not very comfortable for sitting.

The home has 3 levels of decks which make it great for relaxing in the beautiful mountain weather. The rear deck gets sun all afternoon and is one of the best sun bathing spots in the Poconos. The 3rd floor deck on the front of the house is a great place to star gaze and enjoy the mountain air. On a clear night you'll feel like you can reach out and touch the stars.
