Grandma's Spectacular Beach Cottage

Perched on a bluff at the edge of the Pacific Ocean, Grandma’s Beach Cottage offers unobstructed white water views that cannot be improved upon. She sure knew how to pick em’ - this house could not be better placed! It is one of only three homes located inside the private gated entrance to Irish Beach’s exclusive beach access and looks right down the beach to the western most point of the lower 48 – the Point Arena Lighthouse. Grandma was very unpretentious and so is her house; she built the first home in Irish Beach with 3 bedrooms, 1 full bathroom, constructed of solid core redwood (no paneling here!) with lots of windows to soak up the view and a fully equipped kitchen. Grandma didn’t want us kids sitting around a TV when there was exploring to be done outside, nor was she going to be inside doing laundry. You will not find a TV or laundry facility in this house! She didn’t really know how to use a computer, but yes our house is equipped with wifi. I think Grandma must have been a romantic, because her house sure puts you in the mood. With a glass of wine in front of the fire and the constant sound of the crashing waves, honey by my side, well... I just can’t think of anything better! If you love long walks on the beach, and natures wondrous scenery I think you too will love Grandma’s Beach Cottage.
Please note that you will need to bring your own bed sheets and towels.
Please note that this property may not be well suited for folks with physical limitations for walking on steep hills .

By the photos you can see it is an impossibly beautiful location. The Inside is perfectly vintage and the lack of technology enhances your stay in ways you really can't imagine until you are there. Fully stocked with everything you need and more. More than just a home this place evokes a feeling of magic and whimsy. We truly did not want to leave. There were some issues but it did not even take away from the experience because the owner is easy to get ahold of and made everything seamless. The single bathroom was nice and the tub/shower was roomy and clean. The beach nearby was easy to drive to and empty most the time, we loved watching the horse tours come by. Reading on the wrap around deck was beyond relaxing. I cannot say enough about this wonderful place you will not regret it.

Wonderful relaxing stay!

We love coming here..it's like being on a boat! So close to the ocean and cozy. Everything we need is there and granddaughter loves the beach just down the road. Best vacation ever!

Mesmerizing Ocean View!

The atmosphere created by the wide beautiful view and impressive sound of the surf was very calming. We loved our daily walks on the beach and the relaxing warmth of the cottage. It was the most peaceful and refreshing time we have enjoyed in a long time.

Great location

Probably the best location of any place we’ve ever stayed. Can’t beat the views from the cottage. The home is very comfortable and has everything we needed. Communication with the owner was easy & quick. Make sure to leave it clean and follow the checklist when you check out.

Perfect spot to regroup

A friend and I stayed here and were pleased with the entire experience. The view was spectacular. We appreciated that the home was clean and the decor was as Grandma would have appreciated. Grandma's Cottage is good for the soul

Our stay was nothing short of magical. The moment we arrived all the stresses of daily life was washed out sea with the sound of the waves. Stunning views everywhere you look. We loved watching all the birds fly in and out of the tree by the bench. The morning we left we were even listed by a deer! We can't wait to come back.

Peaceful Retreat

The most amazing views I have ever experienced. Our family of six had an amazing time exploring the beaches nearby. Coming back to a cozy, clean cottage and making dinner while enjoying the sunset over the water was a highlight for me. I couldn’t have asked for a better getaway for our family. Thank you so much!

Absolutely LOVE Grandma's Cottage!

Everything about this property was exactly what we wanted. The look, the feel, even the smell (in a good way), made us feel like we were family members visiting our Grandma's cottage on the coast. Views and access to the private beach were AMAZING! Only one inconvenience was the lack of nearby restaurants for dinner - we managed with the two that were open in Point Arena (pizza and the Pier Place). But, next time, we'll plan on doing more cooking and grilling on our own, in the well-equipped kitchen. Thanks again, for sharing this wonderful family treasure with us!

Best getaway spot ever!

We will definitely be back. Four days of unplugging and enjoying beachfront views. Absolutely perfect. Small surrounding towns with early closing hours and some places totally closed Mondays and Tuesdays so recommend arriving before 7pm to stock up on supplies or just bring in food. We loved cooking our meals at the cottage (fully stocked kitchen). The views and practically private beach really make it hard to even leave and explore nearby areas.

There is likely no more stunning views from any property along the N California coastline!

This property is not a fancy house yet the views are fancy and the decks surrounding the house offer non-stop ocean gazing morning until night. No neighbors and hardly ever a sole on the miles and miles of beach just below the ocean cliffs. We truly felt blessed to have an opportunity to stay in a property that would normally be off limits unless you were in or knew the family. The owner, Jennifer, is incredibly accommodating and concerned over every detail of the stay. Very easy to work with and kind hearted. House has everything you need to stay, cook and hangout for the duration of your stay. We will be back...again, and again and again!

Oh my goodness. This place is as good as all the other reviews say, and then some. We travelled all the way from Ohio bc I was obsessed with this listing, and it did not disappoint. Such a cozy, welcoming home that has everything you need. Our 14 and 11 year old had a great first experience with the Pacific, playing on the beach all day, exploring tide pools. And plenty of wifi to be on their tech at night. We also managed to tear ourselves away for a day and visit some redwood groves (Montgomery Woods is worth the drive!). Some great places to eat close by, and some more that I want to come back and try. Definitely get sandwiches at the store in Elk and have a picnic lunch at the park across the street! Thank you, Jennifer, for opening this wonderful cottage up to share and being such a kind and gracious host. Your communication was always so nice and helpful, and we appreciate all the time you spent making sure our stay was safe and pleasant, even when the weather wouldn’t cooperate! I hope to be back someday, if just to sit on the porch and drink coffee and listen to the roar of the surf. As my son described it, “this place is powerful and peaceful”. ❤️

This is one of my best vacations ever. It was lovely and totally relaxing. We've been on many cruises and beach trips. This surpassed all of them. We watched a whale pass by, seals on the beach and playing in the waves, and deer in the yard. This was perfect for us.

We absolutely loved our stay at Grandma’s Cottage! Perched right on the edge of the cliffs in Manchester, this home feels like a private slice of paradise.
