About this property

Milky Way Cabin: Off-Grid in the Craters

Relax with the whole family at this peaceful place to stay among the junipers and volcanic craters just outside of Flagstaff. This quaint off-grid cabin has all the amenities you'll need to enjoy and explore the wonders Flagstaff has to offer. Grand Falls, Meteor Crater, Walnut Canyon, Sunset Crater, Wapatki Nat'l Monument, and oh yeah, the Grand Canyon! Hike among the junipers or up Junction Crater right from your front door onto the Coconino National Forest overlooking the Painted Desert.
The space
This is an off-grid house and while we have running water/electricity we ask you to be mindful of the resources available. Our toilet is a composting toilet (no flushing water). It is easy to use and we will provide instructions how to use it (you will have to empty the pee bucket approximately every second day), but we want to make sure you are aware of it before booking. Our house is about 20 min drive from the Safeway/Flagstaff Mall and 35 min drive from downtown Flagstaff. This is a great place to experience peace and quiet, nature and the stars. Please note that this is an off grid cabin/house with a wood stove for main heating (we do have an additional propane heater) and you will have to make your own fire every morning and evening to stay warm during the winter months. We do provide the wood, but if you stay longer you will have to bring wood inside from the wood stack and be comfortable lighting the fire.
