About this property

Bozeman Trail Cabin Bighorn Wyoming

This historic cabin has a long and storied history in Bighorn and Sheridan County, Wyoming. Well-known in our community, it has only passed through the hands of a few families, and is still held dear to those who recall, happy childhoods visiting and staying here. The large fenced backyard has shared many a peony root stock across the region, and still shelters repeat guests beneath its shading branches.

The cabin itself has gone through different versions over the decades and now holds a cozy cottage kitchen equipped with everything you need to prepare a bountiful meal for the dining table that seats eight. Or take a break from typical chores and enjoy a quick stroll to the Bighorn Mercantile for their stone-fired pizza, hot “sammiches”, and local brews or to Just Ledoux It Saloon and Steakhouse for tasty American cuisine and frequent live music.
Return home to original dark-stained log walls embracing a rustic interior, outfitted with comfortable seating and plenty of room for your family. The library wall is filled with the Ty owner’s diverse collection of reading material, including local references. Not that you’ll want to spend much time indoors with the incredible view of the Bighorn’s to be enjoyed from the swing on the side porch, or via a stroll along Brinton Road or a quick five minute ride up to the Red Grade Road trailhead sponsored by Sheridan Community Land Trust, but if summer rain showers or winter snowfall keep you inside you can enjoy your favorite streaming subscriptions or cable TV on any of the three flat screen TVs throughout the house, spread out a board game on the library table in the living room, or get some pressing work done in the study off the living room or enjoy a bubble bath in the clawfoot tub upstairs or a relaxing shower in the newly remodeled main floor bathroom.

You’ll have the entire house and front and fenced backyard to yourself.

I am an experienced and highly rated Superhost, a cohost on behalf of the owner and manage the property full-time. Please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions, or if I can help in anyway.

There’s so much to do nearby that you’ll probably feel torn between enjoying the cabin or getting out. Bighorn orn City Park, and Little Goose Creek are straight down Third Street less than a block away, the Brinton Art Museum and it’s incredible Plains Indians and western art collection, as well as regularly rotating contemporary artist’s exhibits is just under a five minute drive down Brinton Road. You could easily stay occupied right there in Bighorn, but there’s lots more to explore just a short 10 minute drive to Sheridan. Please don’t hesitate to reach out with questions or to ask for recommendations for your trip planning. We are excited to share this special region and its history with you.

There is plenty of parking on the side of the house for 2 to 3 vehicles. While there are not sidewalks around the neighborhood, Bighorn is a small quiet village and easy to walk around. You’ll enjoy strolling to the city park, to restaurants and live music.

Annual trip to Sheridan/Big Horn
The cabin is as advertised--cute, charming, clean, well appointed, and ideally located in the quiet community of Big Horn. Wild turkeys and whitetail deer were constant and charming companions. The fenced yard prevented dog/turkey interactions and provided ample room to run. The kitchen, sized appropriately for a cabin, was well supplied with cooking implements and was suitable for evening dinners. The cabin has been tastefully updated but retains its wild-west charm. I would be delighted to stay again.

Relax and Recharge
My husband and I stayed two nights at this property and absolutely loved it. The rustic cabin is just as the pictures show.. but what they can't show you is how it will make you feel. I LOVE being outside and we had fabulous weather, but I had a hard time peeling myself away from the cozy living room to get out. It was perfect for finishing a book, watching football and just chilling by the fire. When I did decide I needed to get moving, the LARGE fenced back yard was a great place to hang out, along with a beautiful stream you can hear babbling in the background (about a half a block away). I walked around the town, stopped in the Mercantile for pizza, dined at the LeDoux Steakhouse and enjoyed a tasty beverage at the local bar. If you are needing to check out from life for a bit, check in to this cabin.

Wonderful, relaxing retreat
My stay here was a highlight of my summer. Absolutely beautiful yard, and a wonderful interior with so many interesting things to see. Unlike any other place I have stayed, so much more character. Couldn’t have asked for a more quiet and comfortable stay. I will definitely stay again.
