Rental property was dirty on arrival - broken fans - poor circulation
Booked for the view, which is lovely. However, there were dead bugs on the bunk beds, dead bugs in the bathtub, glassware in the cabinet had to be cleaned before use as it was very dusty. Dead Bird in the stove. Poor circulation from the AC system. Main living area stayed cool, but with high humidity, at one point it was 64 degrees with 72% humidity. Bedrooms on the upper floor were too warm to sleep comfortably, my husband I tried to sleep on a mattress on the living room floor. At this point, I am also 8 months pregnant, so that was uncomfortable. Had reached out to the host about the fan in the bedroom not working to cool the room. He said that the fan had been broken since he bought the home, and that the remote actually turns a fan on/off at the neighbors house. His resolution was to turn the AC down more. Still didn't circulate well enough to the top floor. Clogged sink in master bathroom, second sink in that bathroom ran brown water. He said that it was because it hadn't been turned on in two weeks. All of this stated on a recorded call with VRBO. Host agreed to a fair refund, as we vacated the property after the first night, with two nights remaining on our reservation.
Called to follow up with VRBO, and now the host is refusing any kind of refund, after we had two nights out of pocket at another hotel.
There was also standing puddles of water in the basement, and the master bathroom shower curtain didn't close completely, posing a slip hazard.
