About this property
1803 HISTORIC JOSEPH ABELL HOUSE
This historic Joseph Abell House was built in 1803 and is located in Middletown, Kentucky. This home is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The house sits on a two-acre property.
The building is located in the main house of Joseph Abell's 600-acre plantation. It includes a secret entry to the underground railroad, which is believed to be one of the last locations the slaves would be housed in before crossing the Ohio River.
The Abell house is a five-bay two-story brick structure with a one-story wing extending off the east side of the main block. The layout of the house is composed of a central hall with a room off each side. All of the original woodwork remains intact.
The grounds are currently filled with over 25 different varieties of flowers, and native trees and blanketed with beautiful ivy. The owner has installed a natural stone patio, a firepit & an outdoor pizza oven that can hold many gatherings.
This is a furnished rental property that comes with the basic furniture a tenant will need to live in the space, like a couch, beds, a coffee table, a dining room table and chairs, basic kitchen appliances, and a washer & a dryer. The rental has two entrances (back and side of the house) for guests. There is a large parking lot for multiple cars.
