Casa Libra - A beautiful home in an ideal location.
Casa Libra is a newer construction, architectural home with two covered patios, a large yard, and a relaxing fountain pool. The tropically landscaped yard is completely private from neighboring properties.
The home is steps from Merida's popular 'foodie corridor'. Many of the city's top choices for restaurants are located on or adjacent to Calle 47, now a more pedestrian friendly street.
Paseo de Montejo is just a few blocks away. This tree-lined boulevard stretches 6 km (3.7 mi.) and is filled with historic buildings, museums, monuments, restaurants, shops and amenities.
Just a few blocks in the opposite direction is the new Gran Parque La Plancha de Merida. Plaza Grande is about a 20-minute walk or 7 min. by car.

This was the perfect location for us. Dozens of restaurants within a 5 minute walk and so close to Paseo De Montejo and La Plancha park. We would definitely stay here again.
Absolutely beautiful property in a prime location. We would stay again.

A beautiful and well maintained home. Very gracious hosts. Welcome gifts were provided and great recommendations on art galleries to visit. Walking distances to great restaurants and boutique shops. Though construction is going on, it wasn’t distracting at all. We slept through that as well as street noise. Didn’t use the earplugs provided. I’ll definitely return!
The place is nice, very spacious, nice back patio and pool. The place needs some maintenance- the walls are cracking and could use some paint. Three of the four bedside lamps didn’t work which appeared to be an issue with the outlets. The kitchen drawers have a very strong mildew smell. The biggest issue was the very loud music that the restaurant next door played starting at 1pm and continuing past midnight (house music with strong bass beets). You could hear it from both bedrooms even with all the doors and windows closed and the AC on. It was very unpleasant during the afternoon as well when we were trying to relax by the pool. I believe this restaurant just recently opened so previous reviews may not have experienced this. Otherwise, the place is nice enough. We won’t stay there again because of the noise.
Casa Libra was spacious and had “character” reflected in carved wooden doors, natural wood furniture in dining area, and well appointed use of natural light in skylights and windows. The upper and lower patios were also comfortable and a wonderful outside extension of the house. The yard felt secluded even with the busy street right outside. Beds were very comfortable. In the kitchen we appreciated the insulated cups for keeping drinks cold but found the cooking gear to be bare minimum. We suggest adding a vegetable peeler, colander and a large serving bowl.
Location was as described being convenient to Merida centro making it easy to walk everywhere.
The only real negative about the house is how sound is amplified in the downstairs area. Due to the high ceilings and lack of rugs and wall coverings, normal conversation and road noises were echoed. It was also difficult to watch television in that space without the sound carrying everywhere and being difficult to understand due to the acoustics.
The Casa Libre is a tastefully, upscale, and excellently located property in the historic district of Merida. I would definitely recommend this property to anyone interested in a short or long-term stay.
In the immediate area, the restorations of casas (homes) is impressive and the restaurant options within easy walking distance - 100' to the gastronomic street Calle 47, are all excellent choices. From our location it was a 10 minute walk to Paseo de Montejo (a beautiful boulevard) and La Plancha Park (truly impressive). This is a very walkable city.
We needed to delay our check out and they were able to accomodate our request, very considerate.
There were a couple of maintenance issues that were promptly dealt with. The only downside, as this whole area is undergoing restoration and updating, was the major construction work that is currently underway, directly next door. Once completed this will further enhance the desirability of Casa Libre.
